Layna nodded silently at his words, and followed him. She curled up on top of the covers, not caring of the cold. She wasn't really cold at the moment anyway. She was extremely warm.

Ceon curled up beside her and silently stroked a single finger through Layna's dark hair. "Goodnight...love."

Layna's eyes watched him before they drifted closed with his soft touching lulling her to sleep. Perhaps she had indulged herself in happiness. But now, as her mind slowly floated away, she hoped it would last.

Ceon awoke some hours later, and looked over to find his mate was fast asleep. He wrote a note on an old piece of paper and put it in her hand, reading, "Gone to park. Be back in a bit." Ceon crept out the door of the apartment to get some fresh air.

Layna murmured in her sleep, before her eyes slowly opened. The darkness around her caused her to become wary as she noticed Ceon's place beside her was empty. She sat up, groaning at her sore muscles. That was one thing that was bad about being pregnant. She was always sore. She slowly stood up, shivering as her feet made contact with the floor. She sighed, and walked out into the living room, smiling at the snoozing wolf. She then went into the kitchen, and opened the fridge. At least the smell isn't bad, she thought. She found a can of fruit, and picked it up without hesitation. She popped the lid off, and picked at the mixed fruit, popping a grape, or a piece of pineapple into her mouth.

Steffon woke up with a start. His amber eyes frantically looking around his environment. He relaxed when he remembered where he was. Ok then...time to go...Ceon seems fine and Razu's probably looking for me. He padded softly to the door and reared to his hind feet placing his front ones on the door. Bracing himself for the doomed tumble backwards he gentlely grabbed the knob in between the door knob and twisted it while pulling backwards. He fell backwards tumbling a full circle before stoping on his back. He layed there panting for a second before scrambling to his feet and walking out. He turns and swings the door behind him using his teeth once again. Hopefully he hadn't awaking Layna or Ceon. Panting happily, Steffon loped out of the building and to Central Park with Duke flying after him scolding Steffon for staying so late.

Ceon slowly walked into the door, his eyes watery and he was still in disbelief of what happened right in front of him. He walked to the deck and sat in a chair, wondering if he would have the same fate, if Layna would be forced to watch. A shining tear rolled off his face and fell onto the ground.

Layna heard the door open and shut, and quickly threw the empty metal can into the trash. She stepped out of the kitchen, and followed the lingering scent. "Ceon?" She said, smelling the familiar salt of human tears. She walked, almost half-ran to where he sat. She sank down beside him, a hand finding his, and squeezing it softly. "What has happened?" She asked.

"I saw a hunter get impailed by a tainted.....his wife was watching.............she was holding her child in her arms.................it makes me wonder if that's how I'm going to die." Ceon held her hand against his beating heart, wanting something to warm his cold soul.

Layna's arms slowly made their way to wrap around him. To hold him close, and to comfort. "Shhh....," She murmured. "Please, Ceon. Know this is the way New York works. I know it seems so horrible, but I've seen children ripped from their mothers' arms to be devoured." Her eyes welled up as a sudden memory thrust it's way into her mind. The memory of a little brother she had barely know, stolen away by night's embrace. She never saw him again. It hurt now to think of it. She had all but forgotten it, in hopes it would not mar her thoughts.

Layna whimpered against his lips at his words. She pulled back briefly. "Please, Ceon. Don't ever think about it..." She whispered, her voice becoming hoarse with held back tears. Several emotions flickered across her face. She couldn't really think of what to feel, her heart a pulsing hurt within her chest.

Ceon looked back down on the ground. "I want to be with you forever. And I don't want anything bad to happen to either of us. I love you so much." Ceon stood up slowly and hugged Layna against his chest, resting his head on top of hers.

Layna buried her face against his warm chest, stifling sobs. "Stop thinking about it, then." She urged quietly. Her voice was delicate, as if made of ice and snow, easily burned away. But her eyes were fire as they stared up at him. She would tell him off if he continued.

"It's not that easy for me. The mother was FORCED to watch him die. I can't get my mind off it for some reason. It's like it's glued to my brain." Ceon looked down at her, his sorowful eyes meeting hers.
