Mat i Got it i was in a boring suciced prevention class when a cam up with the doctrane for skyborne platoons Skyborne PlatoonsSome Imperial Guard Regiment feild jump pack equiped platoonss to quickly manuver trooper acroos a large feild of battle Rules: Movement: Same as Seraphim Sisters Weapons: No Heavy or Template weapon except sniper rifles Is this a referance to the Phantine / Urdeshi Sky Borne troops mentioned in the Guns of Tanith novel? wink Those packs were only used for insertion and had no real combat value. So, yes, only auto-first turn deep-strike would be a valid idea, but for sniper rifles...? Assault weapons would be better as they characterize the mobile light weapons used.

Mat does anyone know the special rules for Gaunts Ghosts Try CHapter Approved 2002(?), as that one features rules on: Gaunt's Ghosts, Armageddon Ork Hunters, Death Korps of Krieg, Illysian Drop Troops and Imperial Guard city fighting forces. Please note that these rules are now, invalid and are all replaced by the new Guard codex, which features the Krieg and Tanith regiments with valid doctrines, along with Ibrahm Gaunt as sepcial character.

Okay, my current objective for my Guard force is to get this 1.250 Pts. force ready before summer. This may sound like an awful lot of time, but school is keeping me pretty tied down and I'm not a good painter, so alot of time is put into that aspect of the hobby.
Anyway, the store has these 1.250 Pts. battles every Tuesday, so I am working hard to get a force ready for such an event when I finally have vacation.
It's a basic Imperial Guard army with fire power but no doctrines (Can be too distracting for some people) and is based around Cadians. Without further ado, the list:
1.250 Pts. of Cadian Shock Troopers
HQ. Command Squad. Senior Officer: Carapace armour, power weapon, bolt pistol and trademark item. Veterans (2): Medic with lasgun and med kit. Standard bearer with carapace armour, bolt pistol and ccw. Guardsmen (2): Meltagun and grenade launcher.
Sanctioned Psyker: Laspistol and ccw.
Fire Support Squad: Heavy bolters (2) and autocannon.
Anti-tank support squad: Lascannons (2) and missile launcher.
Special Weapons support squad: Sniper rifles (3) and lasguns.
Troops. Infantry Platoon. Command Squad Junior Officer: Carapace armour, power weapon and bolt pistol. Veteran: Medic with lasgun and med kit. Guardsmen(3): Plasma gun (2) and meltagun
1st Squad Sergeant with laspistol and ccw, nine Guardsmen with grenade launcher.
2nd Squad Sergeant with laspistol and ccw, nine Guardsmen with flamer.
3rd Squad Sergeant with laspistol and ccw, nine Guardsmen with grenade launcher and heavy bolter.
Armoured Fist squad. Sergeant with laspistol and ccw, nine Guardsmen with meltagun. Chimera: Multi-laser, heavy bolter, smoke launchers and extra armour.
Fast Attack. Cadian Pattern Sentinel with autocannon, extra armour and smoke launchers.
Heavy Support. Leman Russ tank with: Battle cannon, hull-mounted heavy bolter, sponson-mounted heavy bolters, extra armour and smoke launchers.
Basilisk: Earthshaker cannon, hull-mounted heavy bolter and indirect fire upgrade.
+ + +
This force has not been created with a said opponent in mind, nor te be good at smashing or dominating them. It's a basic platoon with armour combo that hold lines or run amok when given enough momentum.
There's nothing too fancy such as storm troopers or ab-humans. The storm troopers are added in the 1.500 Pts. list and I'm no big fan of Rattlings and Ogryns, so their out of the question. Other big additions for the force in the future are: Another platoon, two more Sentinels and a Conscript platoon.

I see, you'll going to need to add alot of extra stuff if you want it to be a functional army.

When facing Tyranids, use man's best friend: A tooled up Leman Russ Exterminator. Nothing says 'I hate Tyranids' more then a twin-linked autocannon toting tank with three heavy bolters and a pintle-mounted heavy stubber.
We all know that the Tyranids have puny minds, not even capable of pure and common hatred.
