The man let out a laugh. She was a little extreme in her thought, but to him it seemed like she really cared for people. "No. They don't force them to have sex more like into. It's only those girls who are sixteen and older. They shun the girls and don't smile at them. The only reason they would talk to them is purely for business." The doctor explained to her. They probably would have gone two years earlier if he as a medical doctor didn't speak up. He patted her on the head for her thinking. "It's preferred sometime in the two years." He added. "The partner can be chosen, but I think to some men that they would be willing to sleep with any girl who wants to stop the shunning and have a child. Of course larger the family the higher the social status of the woman."

"Two... Years..." the young nurse choked out. She would have to become a mother in two years to continue her stay in this town? The shock over came her, she finding a chair that was a few steps behind her. The look of shock and bewilderment that came across her face was recognizable; it would seem as if she was her first patient with shock syndrome. "Well, it seems as if some things where left out of the pamphlet before my coming here...Two years to find a man, or risk a bas*ard child.. "

It had only been five years since the death of her beloved... She was still in belief she would see him again, but now, she knew that it was a false reservation she was holding onto and that she might as well just get use to always being a nurse. Doctors had no time for children, and her fate was sealed, or it felt that way.

"Doc, you know what I find funny... I planned being like you, a well esteemed doctor, and you know as well as I do doctors have no time for families, which is why you where... well... spared this task of procreation I suppose... "

She quietly got up from her seat, bowing her head towards the doctor, she still had to find a spot to set up her tent (seeing that she is new, and she's been on the outside of safe heaven) The young woman picked up her baggage, walking towards the door. "So when do I continue my practice. doctor?" she was needing to change the topic, she never planned on children, it had never even been a passing thought, first with her schooling and career choice, than followed by the attack, she just assumed she'd always be, well, childless. I suppose I do owe it to the human race to re populate, I guess maybe being a ...mom.... won't be all that bad.

Serena bit her lip, her thoughts elsewhere. She lived in the same run down shack at the edge of town with the beaten down windows and the broken door that creaked. But things had changed since she had first came to this tiny little town. She had found out she was expecting a child and it made her thoughts become peaceful hoping her journey would finally end and she wouldn't have to move anymore.

But of course fate had turned her in another direction. A few months after she found out she was pregnant her brother had become very ill and not only taking care of herself. She had to take care of him as well. Serena sighed as she pulled on the white dress she had worn for several months their was couple tears and a few blood stains but she walked down the road to the very busy town wondering if she could find the medicine to help her brother

Efren looked over at the little old man insisting on someone knocking Maya up. "Hey old man. It's none of your business, but she's working on it." The man said before walking away. The man was fine with Efren's answer and walked away.





Dominick smiled at the girl. There were some positives about being a medical professional in this town. As long as they worked most people left them alone and even gave them stuff in return for healing the sick. They were the only ones in town that didn't have to do farming to get their meals. "If you're looking for a place to stay the nurses here get their own room upstairs. The first floor is for healing the sick and the basement is for the fully dead until they can be buried." He answered her about the layout of the house. Of course the kitchen was down stairs as well because both the sick and the well needed food. "We have some donated clothes if you want to take a shower and have a fresh outfit." The man added.

It seemed the woman liked the idea of staying in the clinic. It was probably much better then dealing with the lustful men outside. He didn't like to see women on the streets and hoped that he could have more room one day so they could have a safe place to stay. "Just to warn you the shower and the toilet are in the same room. I can request any men that I find not trust worthy to take their business out back, but I will not do the same for women and children." The man warned her. He wasn't going to let anyone through the door that would harm her. "As for where I sleep. It's down here now. You'll take my room until we move the beds around. Till then I'll sleep down here." He answered her.

Maya was left there and the women that owned the orphanage came over to her and treated Maya's head wound. When she finally woke up all the kids were around the bed she was on trying to see if she was okay. Efren had not even come to see if she was okay or at least that was what she thought. Tears finally began to trickle down her cheeks. She wanted to move on and the only way was to finally mourn her family's death and she was.The kids were ushered out of the room so that Maya could rest.

Efren stepped into the room. He let out a sigh. he didn't like to deal with emotional woman, but he had to treat her head. He was a little gruff in his movement and he flipped her so she was on her back. The man then pinned her like that as he started to apply medication to her forehead and even a bandage.
