Tinkerer swallowed hard. "No, sir." Death Raider paused for a moment in thought, then finally shrugged. "No, boss."

"Really?" the Ace of Knaves said, stopping front of the two of them, his side towards them. "Are you sure?" He looked at them with a smile on his face that would have scared the humor out a hyena. He knew this; he'd tried it on Bud and Lou before. "Try and think."

Finally Death Raider began showing physical signs of nervousness. Tinkerer on the other hand looked like he was three sheets to needing a new pair of pants. Not wanting the Boss to snap at them, he just started blurting out anything that came to mind that he thought would be relevant. "W-we brought in someone th-that i-isn't part of the group? W-we we weren't watching Rosie care-carefully enough?"

"Very good, Tinkerer," the Joker said approvingly, the smile still in place. "I'm not so mad about you calling the Crime Doctor. As it turned out, it worked rather well for me. However, not watching Rosie IS a big deal. Now, I know that Tinkerer only leaves his gizmos in order to perform basic body functions. Which leaves only one person to be given the responsibility of keeping an eye on the girl." The Joker took a few steps, stopping directly in front of Death Raider, looking him directly in the eyes, smile suddenly replaced with an obviously furious frown.

Tinkerer relaxed with the Joker's approval enough that his shoulders visibly drooped. But, he tensed right back up when the Joker approached the other man. Tinkerer took a few large steps away and watched wide-eyed.
Death Raider swallowed and took a nervous step back. "I....I was watching her. She wanted to play a gun game and had me be the moving target. There wasn't much space in the one room, so we ran around the halls. I....I went around the corner and hid behind a table. But...she never came around the corner. I thought she was waiting on me to come back around to shoot me again....then I heard Tink freaking out..."

"I understand that accidents happen," the Joker said in a VERY evil tone, "Which is why I can accept the fact that you were born, and the fact that you survived into adulthood." As he continued, he also got louder and angrier. "It also allows me to accept the fact that you've managed to call yourself a super-villain in Gotham City, MY city, and somehow keep your life for as long as you have. What, your previous life was so poor that you couldn't even afford an eighty-dollar round-trip bus ticket to Keystone City and at least have Gambi make you a costume? You LIKE having four-eyes? You're allergic to physical freaking activity, you slob?!" With that, the clown tore the paper sign off of Death Raider, tore it up, balled up the pieces, threw them on a nearby coffee table, and started spraying acid from the flower on his lapel onto the wad.

Both henchmen were at an utter loss for words. Tinkerer was afraid the other man was about to be killed in front of him...and he wasn't about to put his two cents in. Death Raider....just couldn't find his voice at this point. He stared at the bubbling pile that was once paper, tried to stammer out the first word of a sentence, failed, and looked back at his boss with wide-eyes.

"I shouldn't have even wasted the acid," the Joker said disdainfully, also looking at the bubbling mass, "But I doubt the website or the guild would have taken very kindly to me urinating on it." He turned again to look Death Raider directly in the eyes. "I want you to know that the only reason I'm not correcting decades of cheating both the laws of nature and probability, is because a certain little redhead that you failed to look after likes you a lot. So I'm going to give you one more chance. JUST one more. You WILL fix your appearance. Start with simple things. Lose the stomach. I'm not asking for physical perfection, just slim down. And for God's sake, get some freaking contacts, so that you don't end up blind after one punch in the face. Once you get to a better size, I'll see about getting you a better costume. I might end up having to go with Gambi, so it might be a little cheesy, but ANYTHING'S better than what you're rolling with right now." The clown's eyes narrowed. "Above all else, you WILL keep a better eye on Rosie. She's my little girl, she's the person who just saved your life, and most importantly... She's my little girl. Do I make myself unmistakably clear?"

"Y-y-yes, sir..." Death Raider replied quietly. "I-I won't let her out of my sight again, sir."
Tinkerer stood and continued to stare, still holding his breath. He really, really wanted to relax now that he was sure the other man wasn't going to be ripped in half...but he just couldn't get his nerves to calm down.

"I want you to understand just how fortunate you are," the Joker continued. "You are one of a very select few to have angered me and lived to tell about it. Not only that, but I am giving you a chance to become something like a REAL super-villain. One worthy of living in this town. MY town. You DO understand, right?"

The Joker nodded. "Good. That'll be all, Raider. Oh, Also keep in mind this..." the Harlequin of hate added, "...If you disappoint me again, I WILL kill you. Now, you go out there, don't say a word of what happened in here to Rosie, and watch over Rosie until Tinkerer comes out. When he does, send her in here. Go on."

Death Raider nodded and carefully moved past Joker. He hurried over to the door and disappeared as it quickly shut behind him.
Tinkerer swallowed and turned his attention nervously over to Joker again. Again, going over and over in his head that Joker wasn't going to kill him or anything.

Joker looked at Tinkerer's tensed frame and laughed. "Relax, man. You're a fully-functioning adult. I'm not going to take that same tone with you... This time."

Tinkerer looked at him a moment, then let out the breath he'd been holding the entire time. He sighed and his entire frame seemed to sink in relief.
