"I can honestly say I have no idea..."

Her voice trailed off as she watched the two men square off. "If it gets any worse I will consider intervening."

The smile had long since left his face, Mort was losing by a landslide.
Jumping in the air he extended his leg, directing a foot towards the Doctor.
"You're not having fun?" Mort exclaimed connecting with a thrusted kick.

"I suppose this sort of thing is to be expected at a bar, but still..." Chris scratched his head. There was no way that this was just a typical tavern brawl.

"You just can't escape the fighting anymore..." he sighed. "It's everywhere you go."User Image

The Doctor saw the kick coming at him and was ready to dodge. However, his constantly increasing headache shifted into a higher gear, feeling as if a chisel was being grinded into the back of his skull. The pain was more than enough to lower his defense, allowing the kick to collide with his head. He flew aside, tumbling in on the ground. He slowly got up on one of his knees, weak from the pain. "Come on... is that all you got?"

From a running start Mort drew his right arm back and as he neared he jumped in the air.
Coming back down, a single punch directed towards the Doctor's head put him all the way on the ground.
Landing on a knee, Mort began smiling. His idea of adventure and stress relief boiled down to one thing, combat.
"Aw, come on, get up, drinks are on the house for the rest of the night." Mort proclaimed, extending a hand to help the Doctor up.
"You know how to handle yourself, I'll give you that." Wiping the blood from his lip, Mort hefted the Doctor up.
"Now, about that perilous journey I mentioned," and as he talked he wrapped one friendly arm around the Doctor's neck.
"I know of a place where you can kill vampires to your hearts content," he said, beginning the details with a promise of violence.
As they both walked back into the Tavern, Mort let go and went to serve back behind the bar.
"I've actually been planning something that will be both lucrative, and fame oriented."
"If you're curious, give me your number and I'll text you with the details."
Grabbing a bottled water from the fridge and snatching up several pain killers, Mort handed them to the Doctor.

"The fight is in all of us," Skutz mused, "it comes out because of everyone else here. There is no escape since it resides in us." He looked up to watch the "fight" or the parts that could be considered a "fight".

She shook her head, every year of existence suddenly quite apparent in her features. A woman who had seen too many battles in her time, and fought far too many.

It was well into the evening when Vii returned to the Vestal in one of her regretful melancholy moods, a product of this evening's events. Vii hav been out shopping for supplies for the Tavern at the local store because the items hadn't been substantial enough to warrant an order from her usual supplier. When she approached the clerk to finalize her purchase the adolescent had known her nature almost instantly. When he confronted the little vampire about her condition it was as if an invisible hand grabbed his own hand and sought to open his vein with the ball point pen laying conveniently on the counter. The delicious red liquid sprayed Vii in what felt like real slow motion, and needless to say Vii behaved very badly after that. Trudging to her usual booth she collapsed into the plush red seat placing her guilt heavy head on the table as Mort had on the previous evening.
Vii was so lost in her own tumult, she didn't even notice the brawl.

"...No painkillers." Question collapsed in a chair. His head wasn't bleeding anywhere, but almost all the pain was in his headache. He lied there silently, his head throbbing as if it were cracked into millions of pieces. One of his eyes was bloodshot from the sheer stress. "No... painkillers..."

Skutz shook his head, regaining consciousness of the present. He took notice that the "fight" had ended, and that Vii has returned, and not in one of her usual moods that he has witnessed so far.

Emma frowned slightly, casting a worried look towards the Doctor. She excused herself from the Swordsman for a moment, walking over and crouching beside him. "If you require help I will provide it."

"Actually... there is." He reminded her of his recurring dream taking place on an endless path. He asked her if she could affect his dream, but only ever so slightly. "In it... could you... give me... a motorcycle...?"

She nodded. "Certainly. When would you like me to?" Affecting dreams was an easy matter...stopping yourself from going too far was the hard part.

"Hold that thought," Mort told the Doctor as he dashed around the counter and brought Vii a few of the pain killers.
Placing them next to her hand, Mort whispered gently, "Hey boss.. Vii? Yeah, I have to go now."
He had been hungry since he first started his shift and the fight did the opposite of quelling that thirst.
"Uhm.. so.. would it be possible for you to cover for the rest of the night?"
With a very lacking head nod, Vii dismissed Mort and he was away before she could change her mind.
Hurriedly he crossed the room and neared the Doctor who was outright refusing anything that could help his pain.
"Look, there's no need to be a hero here. Why don't you just take a sip of my blood? It'll fix you right up!"
Pulling the jacket sleeve up his arm, Mort used a pinky nail to slash his wrist which he then offered to the Doctor.
"Try it, I promise you won't regret it." Vampire blood was used for it's healing properties in some of the more open hospitals.
It was a documented fact and yet still, some people denied it for what it was, stuck to the preconceptions of "evil".
"If you would though, hurry it up, I've got to get out of here." With his spare hand, Mort retrieved his cellphone.
"Give me your number and I'll text you later with those details," he was trying to be polite, but his hurried demeanor was coming a bit rough.
As he stood waiting, the dark elf stared at him. If her vision could have come with spikes, Mort would be a pin cushion.

Question stared at him like he was insane. "I'm not drinking your blood. As for painkillers... I don't like things that mess with my mind." He turned back to Emma. "Well, I'm tired right now... So, I think that now might be the best time." He yawned and closed his eyes, allowing the amounts of stamina he'd lost to take him into his dream.
