I've just started a DH campaign with a group of mates, all of whom are new to the game, though some have experience with D&D or other RPGs.
So I decided to flex my muscles as GM, having gone through several games as a player I thought it was time I took the Captains chair and directed this b***h! emotion_awesome
So far we're making progress through the intro game at the back of the DH rulebook, it's giving my players a chance to get comfortable with their character and interactions with other players etc. and more importantly they're enjoying themselves, of particular note was my decision to throw in a game of liar's dice into the mix for the characters to play in order to try and win info. It was hilarious watching one of the guys crap out and lose all his money to a grubby local of Port Suffering. (I'm now getting pestered to set up the next session).
Am happy to share my experiences with peeps and any advice and/or suggestions are most welcome.

Got a chance to sit down and read through the Only War rulebook at my local book shop. The book itself was wonderful. The fluff included was entertaining, everything was well organized. Once again, Fantasy Flight has shown that they are able to streamline and improve their rules over time. It really is worth the look/pick up if you have enjoyed the other games.

Don't worry. A evil GM would wait at your 14 hour mark to send the largest, most dangerous foe at you. Then laugh as you attempt to survive.

Biggest worry right now is how well we will cope when the time comes. We used to play quite a bit of Rogue Trader and had become quite powerful over time (I became a Flight Marshall myself and our Rogue Trader had become a Legend of the Expanse!) whereas Only War is at the lowest of the low, perhaps even lower than Dark Heresy and oh dear, that was an outright mean fight for survival. sweatdrop

Or quickly get the biggest weapons and just shoot everything. I find throwing large explosives at enemies demoralizes GM from mobbing you.

I wouldn't call our GM mean-spirited or unfair, rather he is hard but fair when it comes to rolling dice and making choices.

If only I could join a 'Only War' RP. I would love to try that out. Maybe some other RPs as well. Wouldn't hurt to be a Space marine, or similar.
At least your GM is nice. I am in a 'Custom-made' RP in works by the GM, and he is still tweaking his system. he is very troublesome to deal with.
