TweedleKeys Streamjumper TweedleKeys So Diffy is super stressed at work lately so we decided to push back one of the more cerebral movies on our NetFlix queue for something more fluffy. We were trying to determine precisely what. (It currently stands at Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.) During the discussion I also offered "We could always just stay in and watch [insert DVD we already own.]" He laughed at my idea of staying in. xd If he's stressed, I highly recommend something hot-blooded and fun to help him blow some of that stress out of his system. Gaogaigar, Gravion (and Gravion Zwei), and Godannar are all really good for that. They're like medicine for men's souls. Along that line we were considering Casino Royale. (Personally I just want to watch it because I heard the opening has pretty fractal-y card game stuff.) I think it was just mindless action fun/special effects over hot blood though. (Bonus points of not still thinking about the movie much the next day while at work.) He's a pretty gentle guy, I'm not sure if hot blood would be de-stressing for him or not. Though anything with jets/planes is a plus. One of the few things I've seen him eagerly wake up for was an F/A-22 flyover. More information: His favorite fictional characters appear to be Garth from Wayne's World, Emperor Palpatine and HAL 9000. HAL 9000 x GLaDOS - OTPThat reminds me to go queue Gaogaigar for myself as progress on Dai-Guard has become a lot more whoosh lately. Edit: Wow, Godanner has quite some, um, character designs. If/when I do get around to it, I think Diffy will be upset if he is not included. Edit2: While we're on the G's, I've been wondering about Gad Guard for quite some time. Good/bad? I think Diffy might like both Gaogaigar and Godannar... they're really great both for action and comedy... and they're not incredibly thought-intensive shows... in a good way. I think you'll get a kick out of one thing in Godannar... not only is there almost as much fanservice for the women as for the guys, but the ladies are insanely badass. I think you'll love Shizuru... who is as mind-blowingly hot-blooded and totally badass as she is hot. And Tiffany Grant did an awesome job on her voice. I think you'll like Go, Kagemaru, and Knight Valentine though...

Streamjumper hilaroma Stream: You must have gotten lucky with your cooker (either that, or I was the unlucky one). I don't mind the rice getting slightly browned on the sides, but mine honestly burns it. Not black, but really dark and it tastes pretty awful. I've been wanting to get a new one for a long time but I haven't been able to afford it. My whole goal this semester is to save my money so I can upgrade it and some other things that really need it. Those Zojiushi cookers look like something I can definitely justify paying that much for. Thanks for the tip! Rave: Another thing about buying in Chinatown/Japantown is that they might be selling direct imports that wouldn't work properly in the U.S. due to the power frequency difference. I'd probably avoid that route all together. Mine is an Aroma 10 cup cooker. I've never had more than lightly browned rice... and that was after letting the leftovers sit in it for maybe two or three hours before going back for seconds. It was kinda pleasant too... like it was mildly toasted. I end up with a layer of rice stuck to the cooker sides that can be scooped in and broken up, and I just have a toaster type cooker...

Dr. Fomite I've just got an el-cheapo Rival cooker from KMart and that's been my luck as well. If I leave the leftover rice on warm while I'm eating, the stuff at the bottom is, at worst, a little crispy and very light brown. Personally, I like slightly crispy part, so it's never been an issue for me. And it's really only the rice that touches the very bottom of the cooker. Everything else comes out fluffy and nice.
I almost never cook anything but basmati or jasmine rice, though, so I can't speak to anything else.
Mala loev rice cooker. Stainless sides, glass lid with tiny metal rivet steam hole, white plastic serving paddle, and clear plastic measuring cup? If so, I think we have the same cooker Mala. I'll check when I get home. xd

Shoujo Phoenix I want to make rice now. Dunno if I should try throwing in seasonings... I like adding just a splash of rice vinegar to help open up the rice's flavor and aroma a bit.

RaeRae Rave hilaroma RaeRae Rave hilaroma Shoujo Phoenix No, she's not allowed to. She's got...a terrible lezborg disease. It's kinda like leprosy. heart [/I am so going to Hell for this] There was a thread in the AMC a few hours ago asking "What would your Sailor Scout's name be?"
I was so tempted to link you, Hila. xd
@Luna: I don't know how I missed your post before... of course, I also wouldn't even have a clue what to say... sweatdrop So whatever you do decide to do, good luck and I hope it turns out super-fantastical.Is it still there? I'd be glad to post my monstrosity. heart http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/anime-manga-comics/what-would-be-your-sailor-scout-name/t.37298659/ It's on the second page now, but knowing the AMC it'd pop back up in ten minutes anyway...
Omg guys. I was looking at cookbooks the other day. I just bought a Japanese one. Next is the book of five hundred cookie recipes. I've always wanted to be able to cook... I need a rice cooker though. I always make it manually since we have a gas stove at home (whereas at my grandma's it's electric, and I'd need to be constantly switching burners), but it takes so long and by the time I finish washing and drying and cooking it on high and then cooking it on medium and doing this and that and BLAH I'm almost too tired to keep going xd I have a microwave rice cooker. I just shove the rice in the bowl, add a dash of salt, water, then nuke for 12 minutes. Let it sit for 5 more and it's done.
And it's never undercooked. 3nodding heart
