"Hey, look!" Sayael began deffensively, a small pout on his lips. "I have no clue what it is, either, and I just made up the staring thing! I mean... I don't know what it could possibly be. And it doesn't really... seem to be something they have control over, anyway...." He trailed off then, brow wrinkling in concentration as he mulled over what could possibly be the reason for such odd behavior. The people seemed... drawn to Jillian. The teen could put up a mask of charisma, yes, but he didn't seem to be wearing it currently. He seemed a little too shaken up from the events.... But then, people in the Nation had also seemed oddly... agreeable around the teen. It was an unatural attraction -- obviously, diplomats should be able to get on the good sides of the rules, but Jillian was quite overly young for the position.... And Sayael had never seen a diplomat, other than Jillian, who could make his father act so... natural -- make him smile in the way that he usually only showed his own children.

Sayael blinked slightly as Dax spoke, now broken from his train of thought. "What? Oh... yeah..... I have siblings..." he said rather absently, giving the other a small shrug. "Twelve of them."

Dax seemed to take notice of the change in Sayael, that sort of uncertainty that seemed to reveal itself once that familiar of his smile dropped. If Sayael wasn't going to be the strong backbone of the group, at least in this prince's opinion considering this was the Prince of Darkness' idea, he wasn't sure how long they'd hold together. But that didn't mean he couldn't try to help support the other in the process. Sayael didn't have to stand alone. Tapping the tips of his shoes together, he encouoraged himself enough to actually put his arm around the other's shoulders. "I'm sure they're just not used to seeing foreigners around," he said. "Probably think Jillian just looks funny."

"Twelve?" the Ice Prince asked, eyes widening in surprise. He couldn't imagine living with so many. "Wow, then I guess you'll have no problem taking care of me. I'll be just like one of your many siblings then. That is, of course, unless you were the one who needed the taking care of."

Sayael was rather... surprised when Dax put his arm around his shoulder. It was already a rather snug fit in the chair, but this only brought them closer together.... And there Sayael had been, thinking that Dax wasn't much of one for close physical contact. He shrugged at the other prince's incredulous tone. "Well, considering I'm the older, I don't very well think that I was the one in need of caretaking. And taking care of you is rather... how shall I say.... different. Most of my siblings literally climb all over me. I swear, the younger ones are like little monkies.... And the ones too old to do that still hang all over me.... weighing me down during lessons, meetings, anything... doesn't matter if it's formal or private, they'll be there making sure that I don't get a moment's peace...." As he spoke, Sayael looked rather... weary. Lines had appeared under his eyes that certainly hadn't been there before. But, still, at the same time there was a note of fondness in his voice, despite how obviously annoying it would be to have children treating him like a jungle gym.

Muertian shrugged off the ill-mannered boy's departure with grace. He was a prince; of course, he had dealt with villagers who both adored and hated him. Attention was rather a part of the job. Perhaps the Death Prince hardly knew what he was dealing with because the next swig of dizzipop nearly went up his own nose.

"Your what??!" He cried, placing his bottle back on the table with carelessly and using his hand to wipe off any dizzipop trailing down his chin. He wasn't angry. Just terribly surprised, and rather... was it his own shame? He had tried to defend some woman against a boy that seemed to be intruding completely on their date and making her uncomfortable... and now the prince himself was made out to be the fool. It was her brother bringing news on family or something. In his defense, Rosaline certainly never even mentioned having family. Muertian thought she lived with some old man who owned the dressmaker premises in town, but passed away a while back. Of course, he'd done a background check on his guest. No family had shown up. At least, not in his Kingdom... or perhaps the guys just weren't very thorough... he'd have to fire them.

"Er... sure? I guess. I mean if that's what you really want, Rosaline," he muttered, beginning to stand. Throwing the pink-haired boy a skeptical glance, he suggested, "Since it's been a while, I think we'll be fine to go back outside. You'll be well-balanced and everything. I need to get back to check in with father. If you wanted to go find your brother, feel free. I apologize if my comments regarding not being concerned about his news offended you. I'm sure you'll have... much to catch up on."

An edge of bitterness was hinted in his voice at the fact he'd made a complete fool of himself, but he moved to the door and held it open for Rosaline with a smile nontheless.

Faryn observed Jillian as he explained the villager's actions with a heightened level of interest. "So... what you're saying is that you gave them an order and they listened to you," he repeated back to the diplomat, "You know... that's not normal, Jillian. A whole group of people don't listen to me or Sayael. The lady at the front desk won't even give me a damned bandage until you walk by or I have lucky circumstances. And they take an order from you like it's nothing WHILE looking at you in that creepy way... It's like you're royalty here or something. I don't get it."

"Well, if you want.. You know, if it'll make you feel more at home, I think I could manage to hang all over you and nag you all day, if I haven't been doing a good enough job of that already," Dax offered in a somewhat teasing voice. "At least that way it won't be so different between me and those lovable cretins you call siblings." But the Ice Prince doubted if Sayael would really want to be reminded of home. Afterall, his plan was to get away from it all. A plan he most definitely succeeded in.

Turning his gaze upon the other boy, Dax offered a smile, seeing that tired physique. "Look, maybe you should get some rest. Hopefully tomorrow everyone will have calmed down and we can figure out what we're going to do next."

"My... my brother.... Maar... is my younger brother....." he replied rather weakly, his dark eyes wide. If not siblings, then... what had Muertian thought of them? True, Rosaline had been made quite uncomfortable by the precense of Maar... but the ivory-haired boy was always... always laughing at him and... and hurting him. But Rosaline should know better than expecting to be treated well by... by him. Despite their appearances, Maar was older, he was the superior.... Rosaline had nothing on someone like that -- and he could only hope that, now that Maar was back, no one would anger him too terribly. All in all the poor rose's expression was bordering that of panic mixed with sheer terror.

"I--I'm so sorry you had to see him like that. He's not usually... so bad, I mean! He was just... angry... he... he doesn't like it when I'm not with him.... I'm... I'm sorry...." Rosaline's tone of voice had started out strong, but as he progressed it steadily deteriorated into weak apology. His cheeks were burning slightly. He... he couldn't bare to hear that bitter edge in the other's voice. Then again, he felt he deserved it. After all, Maar had been practically a knight in shining armor compared to his usual self. Though the flowers had been a cruel joke, they had been a gift all the same -- and, for once, one without intended threat. Maar was always trying to do something bad to him....

"---And I don't really want to hear about... family issues...." he murmured as he passed the other through the door, his eyes downcast. As in the time when he had told Muertian about his father, it seemed that the depths of the rose's depression was only ever reached through mention of 'family.' He turned back, then, to glance at Muertain and give him his best smile -- which, at the moment, was a weak immitation of the flawless one he had given on so many other occasions.

"Thank you very much, Muertian... for inviting me here, and for the drink and for... not killing my brother," he murmured, trying his best to keep a positive expression, at the same time acnowledging to Muertian that, yes, he knew his brother was a jerk. Why did Maar have to turn up at a time like this? The mere knowledge of his precense was enough to make Rosaline begin to feel depressed....

Jillian frowned slightly at Faryn's deduction. It... well, it sounded... well, if not plausible, then more likely than at least half of his own ideas. But that still didn't explain... "But how would they know I was royalty? I mean, don't get me wrong, I know I'm not -- I mean, while I lived here as a child, I grew up in the middle of nowhere. How could any royalty have ever lived in such a small, remote place? I've never met a prince that lived so far away from the people or a palace."

"Haha, no thank you," he replied humourlessly to Dax's offer. "I'm fully enjoying my monkey-free days, thank you very much," he continued, managing to flash the other his usual, playful and slightly mischevious grin. "Though I'd say you're already doing a fine job of acting like we've got a sticking jynx landed on us." Not that it was Dax's fault, really. After all, at some unknown point, the prince of Darkness had slipped his own arm around the other's waist.

"Mmm, yeah, sounds good... I am pretty tired..." he murmured with a small yawn, shruging his shoulders up towards the ceiling and then back down into a more relaxed position. "You're probably tired, too, right? So we'll share the room. It's big enough."

With his arm still around the other prince's shoulders, Dax gave Sayael's arm a light pinch at the 'jynxing' comment. "I was just relieved to see you, that's all," he said defensively, though he made no move to untangle himself from Sayael. "Besides.. After being stranded away from everyone for what seemed like forever, I just wanted a little contact. You know.. to make sure it was real."

"Mm-hm, I am pre-.." Dax began to agree, but stopped midsentence as if just understanding what had been said. "Wait.. Just how many beds does this room have?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 31, 2007 10:10 am

"One," Sayael replied, his tone showing clearly that he was completely unbothered by this fact. "But it's not a big deal, right? I mean, we shared a bed when I stayed in your room that night, remember? Besides, I thought you wanted human contact," he said with a slightly teasing tone, a small grin on his lips. "Anyway, I'm used to it. Like I said, I've had siblings hanging all over me for my whole life -- and that includes invading my sleeping chambers to 'cuddle.' Sharing a bed with you wouldn't be any different, except that I'd have more space." Right. No different. Only, Dax wasn't family and he was about Sayael's age, though the prince didn't mention any of that.

"Daxy, we're already so close. Just like family. So there's no problem, right?"

With the 'human contact' comment, Dax finally withdrew his arm away from Sayael's shoulders, disentangled the other's from his waist, and came to his feet, arms crossed defiantly over his chest. "It will be different in the cuddling factor," the Ice Prince said, glancing over his shoulder at the still seated boy. "And my bed was a completely different situation. I'm sure mine's far bigger and much more comfortable."

"I better not find you moving all up on me in the middle of the night like your 'family', if that's what we're calling each other now" he continued, holding up at finger as if to make his point solid. "You haven't gotten that far on my good side yet."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 4:26 pm

"Haha. Don't worry, I wouldn't try to cuddle you or anything. Like I've said, I relish being able to have my own space whenever possible," he replied, his tone level and quite practical. However, soon a wide, slightly teasing, grin had spread across his lips. "Anyway, I wouldn't ever try to cuddle you, since you're totally not cute at all. At least a marginal amount of cuteness is required in order to cuddle, which is why I don't let the older ones sleep in my bed any more." Of course, that last part was a lie. They still slept together plenty (in a purely innocent fasion). He just felt like giving the other, easily teasable, teen a rather hard time. "So you shouldn't have any worries there, Mister Uncute," he finished, grinning.

Dax's mouth dropped slightly before it tightened into a scowl, his bright eyes narrowing at the other grinning prince. Obviously, he was not amused. 'Not cute!?' What would Sayael know about his level of cuteness? he thought grudgedly, staring the other down. Honestly, who was he to rank the Ice Prince's attractiveness?! And here Dax thought Sayael and himself were beginning to get along better and better. "Oh, I'm sorry I'm not cute enough for your tastes, Sayael," he said. "If I'm such a dog, maybe I should sleep outside. That way, you won't have to worry about coming in any sort of contact with me at all."
PostPosted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 10:57 pm

((I need to draw Sayael's family.... >>;; ))

"Ah, well, once you've been excluded from the cute club, that's it. And I don't think they accept membors after around the age of... hmm, lessee, eleven? After that, puberty kicks in and people get uncute," he continued, completely unmarred (at least on the exterior) by the other's complaint. "But I don't think of you as a dog, of course. You have far more dignity than that. Perhaps a... cat or something. Which is fortunate, because my siblings are like koalas...." the prince continued, completely unaware that he just might be digging a deeper and deeper hole for himself. At the moment, he was (unfortunately) utterly carefree, the careful, plotting aspect of his nature for the moment forgotten.

[[Since Sona's not here, and my only character that's not interacting with one of her's is Haar, I thought I'd wake him up...Granted, he'll just be chillin', but I miss rping him. :9]]

The young cleric, who before seemed almost infatuated with the commander had since donned a more professional expression as she looked up from her lunch to check on said soldier. With a simple scan over the brown-haired man's lean, and too bare, form, the young lady sighed pleasantly to herself as Haar's breathing seemed to return to a more normal pattern. It had been slightly quickened throughout his magic-induced rest, Ceris had made a comment about bad dreams-- Haar was prone to those, apparently-- but he seemed to be relaxed now...and right after that prince had left, too, interesting. It wasn't hard to believe, if one knew the fire-native well enough, that even a glimpse of the prince or the king, or any other higher royal of his own nation, made Haar terribly on edge, well, more so than usual. Stand up straight, don't you dare stumble over your words, relax. That last one was the hardest for him. It was infuriating to say the least when an ignorant royal couldn't seem to understand his logic, or the generals' logic and more tha once he had wanted to-- to...

Shifting to his side, Haar mumbled something, being watched closely by the two clerics to who murmured something amongst themselves as well. "Is he waking up? Go check him to make sure. If he does, make sure to keep him in bed for a little while until he eats something," they whispered before the younger healer knelt forward at the edge of the cot. Pressing the back of her hand to the soldier's forehead, the girl smiled something close to relief as red eyes opened slowly.

Waking up after passing out was never as romantic or as calm as many people believed it to be. It all started with thoughts, thoughts that whirled around in your head that you knew your brain was working but you couldn't grasp onto the overload of sense and dreams and whatever else your brain was milling through. Eventually you would be able to hold onto one of those thoughts, memories, whatever...but by that time your body had caught up with you and the pain started and before you knew it your head had had enough of sleeping and you were awake.

Being compared to a cat, a slight hint of surprise surfaced upon Dax's features, but he was quick to smother it with another set of glowering eyes. A cat was better than a dog, he supposed, but that didn't make up for the fact that he still thought Sayael was calling him unattractive. If he actually took a minute or two to think about it, Dax was sure his relief to be in the other's company would very much outweigh his anger, but the problem was that once his temper rose, he could think of little else outside the box.

"You have some nerve, you know!" he spat. Giving a huff, the Ice Prince turned on his heel, his back to Sayael. "Well, I'm sure this inn doesn't allow pets inside anyway. I'll just go outside and find somewhere to curl up. If I'm lucky, maybe someone will think I'm a stray and pick me up." With that, he stormed out of the inn, much resembling a stubborn child having a fit.

"Daaaa~x, don't--" Sayael began, his emerald eyes following the other's rather irked form. He was cut off, however, as the blond prince completely left the inn. Sayael sat there, slightly stunned, for several moments before he got up and followed quickly after his friend. Really, Dax could be so like Faryn sometimes. It seemed neither could take a little good-natured teasing.

He had caught up rather easily, having always been a very fast runner. "Daaax, hey, I'm sorry, alright? I just thought, you know, since you're not exactly a kid any more, you'd rather be 'handsome' than 'cute'. I mean, Lawrence always gets on me if I call him my cute little brother, since he's fourteen already," he said, his tone both sincere as well as slightly nervous. He didn't... like Dax being angry at him. It made him feel slightly... anxious. Worried, even. Why, he wasn't quite sure, but he was sure he would have several hypothesis before the day had ended.

And it was then that a sudden realisation struck him. No, it wasn't about his feelings of agitation towards Dax's anger, but something else..... Lawrence. He... he looked an... awful lot like Dax. Not like brothers or anything so close as that, but... certainly as if they were related in some way, even if it was distant. The brown-haired teen's emerald eyes had widened considerably and he looked, for a moment, completely dumstruck. Suddenly, several pieces had just fallen into place....
