Delpheus Are the dawn of war games like Warhammer 40K? I mean, the rules and stuff. gonk I don't know how to ask what I'm trying to ask! More or less. sweatdrop In case of moral failure, they don´t turn around and flee in panic, they just stand there, keeps shooting the enemy with less efficiently and hopes that you do something. Abd since it is real-time strategy game, majority of the original 40k rules have been throwed into the carbage can.Epic Fail Guy They must constuct additional pylons right? Two, learn to play. Nope. And what the heck is a pylon? neutral Sounds more like a Necron thingy...Xenos Mortium Well, I mean, he does have a point. Forgeworld has some models for defensive Tau drone turrents, just as they do for stationary Heavy Bolter emplacements. So if the Space Marines have them, why not the Tau? Nope, they don´t have those. The only form of defence I can build up is using Broadsides and gun-drones doing "Dug-in-and-ambush" tactic, but that only works untill Avatar shows up. gonk And not just one every hour or so but every 5 frigging minutes. xp
That area is much easier to play as Imperial Guards and Space Marines. stare Just slap alot of heavy bolter turrents and heavy weapon squads with autocannons and you got yourself an fortress that can´t be over-runned.

Infiltrate a Lord and Monolith, and then drop some flayed ones.

-Mykal Sounds rather impossible on monolith case. :-/ Unless lord can teleport the damn thing with him...... sweatdrop Monolith isn´t as scary as it is in real 40k, with alot of troops, a baneblade and 2 leman russes are more then enought to take one down. Again, I only play easy setting, i´m not that insane. xp

Teleport the lith, then the lord, behind the supersize fortress that's established, while the Lord as a veil of darkness. The veil allows for units and vehicles to be invisible, and seeing as a fully active 'Lith is vehicular, it all seems like a blood good plan.

Asmondai, we were not discussing whether or not they have defensive structures, but more like why the hell don't they have defensive structures. Please, you don't have to tell us in a manner-of-factly way how to defend a base to the best of a Tau players ability, we have all been there.

Tau codex mentions belief in destroying enemy, not holding terrain at all costs...

Also, their shooty powers are pretty good, and don't have much in the way of vehicles (imo), so you might as well just keep some of the drones back and get ready to pop out some Vespid as a speed bump.

They don't have much in the way of vehicles? Are you kidding? The Hammerhead is one of the best vehicles of the game! The Skyray is pretty useful too when it comes to barraging heavy concentrations of units.

Oh yeah, but they're limited to certain numbers, and you'd use those on the attack.

That's true, but I guess since Broadsides aren't very fast and take time to set up, you can use those as decent defensive units.

I mean just entrench them at your base and let them loose. Not much survives afterwards (provied they dont get all close and personal)

I thought the purpose of entrenching was to form a stationary defense? Anyways, since there is only one now, Broadsides don't really stand up to a lot of firepower, especially close range stuff. It really isn't that great of a defensive unit but unfortunately it is the best the Tau have. Totally sad.

Drones are pretty good.
Especially seeing as they can jump out the ground. If the enemy doesn't have a detector unit, you can keep jumping their men about until they die. Comical, if not totally useful.
