Earendil glanced over at Lin, then looked back at the things on his bed.

"Good morning, Lin," he said, a bit distractedly. "I'm just trying to think ... I mean ... we're going to be up on a roc, doing this from the air ... I don't want to bring too much stuff, because if I drop something, I don't want to lose it ... and I know I'm going to need some of my instruments, but I don't know which ones, I don't know how it will work from the air ... I find myself quite at a loss. And when I think it through in my head I still don't know ..."

"I take it you've been trying to figure this out all last night?"

Lin looked at it all, she couldn't blame him, to loose everythign wouldn't be good at all but this looked like it would take him a while to figure out.

"I think the best way would fly overhead a section and then land to do the actual mapping because at the speed a roc goes you are going to lose your paper, your tools and probably get injuried if you did it on a roc's back."

Earendil scratched at his head. "Well, the problem is then, that I need to see it while I'm recording it," he murmured. "And the point of flying was so that we wouldn't have to land ..."

He was personally hoping that Haldia's roc would be smoother and slower than the other, so that he would be able to do his work from the air, because if they constantly had to land and take off again, he would never get it done.

"Well is Haldia coming? I don't think the normal laws of flying apply to her spirit so it might be easier," Lin replied.

She wasn't so sure if Haldia was coming she couldn't remember if she had seen Haldia while up on deck.

Earendil nodded. "After our trip to the city the other day, she's not afraid of the island anymore, so she was willing to come along. Unfortunately, I couldn't convince Celeb to stay behind," he added with a frown. "I just hope he behaves, or else I'm going to have to ask Arwen to talk to him. He's a good boy, most of the time, but he's very possessive and quite pushy when he wants to be. Especially when it comes to Haldia, nowadays."

He didn't hold it against the boy, but if it came to the point where it would interfere with his work, something would have to be done about it. Prince or not, Celeb had to learn that he couldn't have everything he wanted.

"I've noticed..." Lin murmured, "I think it went from being overly worried to not wanting to be left out. Haldia to him is now his friend and well..."

Well it was no excuse but she could kind of see how this was going on.

"Well the point is, if she's coming it should make mapping for you much easier I'm sure, but ask her first what her spirit roc is capable of doing, but I'm sure the flight to be slow..."

Or if possible the roc could hover over a spot, she wasn't sure if that was possible but it might be.

"As for Celeb, let's see first. Really he just doesn't want to be left out, but I think he's going to bored after the first day at this. He's... an active child..."

Earendil nodded. "I hope he gets bored," he murmured. "He should spend time at the castle, or in the city. Play with kids his own age. Start being social."

Not that he was one to talk, but at least when he was Celeb's age he'd had his brother to play with. Celeb was completely skipping his childhood and moving straight into adulthood.

He started packing his things, deciding that he might as well pack everything and see what he would actually use, and the next day he could just take the things he would need.

"Anyways, I'll just be another few minutes," he muttered. "I don't know if you want to wait for me or go ahead ..."

"Well people were getting worried, this is unusual for you," Lin explained, "But I'll tell them."

She didn't even bothered to tell Earendil she had never played with anyone her own age. The closest thing to "playing" was with Earendil himself. Even with Adan she learned not played.

"And Celeb will be fine..." Lin assured him before leaving to make her way back up deck.

"Thank you," Earendil murmured as Lin headed off. Unfortunately, he didn't have the same optimism as she had about Celeb, but he wasn't about to make an issue of it.

Up on deck, Leyenda was still anxiously awaiting news about Earendil.

"Well?" she asked Lin the moment she appeared.

"Earendil is dealing with last minute logistic problems," Lin replied, "He realized if he brought everything that was in the bag, if he dropped it he would lose everything. He should be up in a few moments but said some of us can go ahead with Aurin if we wanted."

Since she was sure Earendil didn't know that Leyeda and Kelirahc wanted to see what it was like to ride a roc. Meaning Haldia would have to stay behind and Celeb would just because it was Celeb.

Leyenda looked over at Kelirahc, Rhea and Aurin, then looked back at Lin. "We'll wait," she nodded. "After all, we wouldn't know where to go without Earendil, and the Captain is supposed to be his guide as well as guard."

Celeb wandered over and looked up at Lin, his eyes wide. "Is he coming?" he asked eagerly. "Does he have everything?"

"Just give him a few more moments, he's just doing some last minute rearranging," Lin replied.

She couldn't blame him for being excited, after all this was going to be an interesting trip. Well for her anyways it was going to be an interesting trip.

And just as she finished speaking, Earendil appeared from the door to below deck, bag in hand. He was still in the process of fastening it, and he was muttering to himself as he did so.

"Ready?" he called out as he approached everyone.

"Ready!" Rhea called back from where she was chatting with Aurin.

"And waiting," Celeb added pointedly.

Earendil slapped his shoulder. "Mind your attitude, or you can stay here," he frowned. "I'm not kidding about that."

Lin wondered if she missed something, while there were times she didn't like Celeb's attiude (or rather his lack of tack). She had chalked it up to the fact Celeb was young, it wasn't like she had much tack neither growing up.

Yet Lin got the distinct impression that Earendil wasn't quite fond of Celeb, or rather Celeb's attitude.

"Let's go then," Lin motioned, "And see how this goes since this is going to be a new experience."

It was one thing to chart by foot but she was sure no one in the Four Lands had charted by air.

While Aurin helped Rhea, Leyenda and Kelirahc up onto Skyel's back and strapped them in, Haldia summoned Rhiel and motioned for the others to climb up.

"Celeb first," she said firmly, "and then I will go up, and then Earendil and then Lin."

It would keep the two males apart, while allowing her to communicate with Earendil freely.

"Going," Celeb nodded, climbing up.
