Alexis shifted, diving closer to the box. "It might. There's only one way to know for sure, eh?" he said with a teasing note in his voice. He wondered if Aoi would realize that he liked her company a lot.

Aoi looked around for some seaweed or anything else that could be used to haul the box back to the cavern. She heard Alexis speaking and she heard the slight teasing note in his tone and she looked at him with a raised eyebrow, but she soon grinned at him. "I could go get some of that sea weed that's over there to braid into a rope." she said, pointing to some seaweed. She could sense that Alexis liked her company and she smiled because she very much liked his company and thought that she could stick around for a while; otherwise she'd be alone again and would risk the chance of encountering more of the shark men. Although that wasn't really the only reason that she wanted to stay. She was fascinated by Alexis and wondered if he was also fascinated by her.{{ooc:}}

Alexis nodded with a faint half smile that most would have called roguish. "I'll dig some of that sand away and see how deeply that box is buried while you handle that. I'll admit a lot of this that you've shown me... I likely never would have thought of seeing much less doing, so it's just as fascinating as you are," he said with a chuckle as he let himself land on the sand.

Aoi waited for an answer and when she heard Alexis giving her his reply she blushed some. "I'll go get the seaweed and will be right back." she said swimming off to get the seaweed. She grabbed only the longer strands and picked what she thought would be enough to make the ropes and headed back to Alexis. She started making the ropes right away and left Alexis to digging out the sand. 'He thinks I'm fascinating! I have never been called more than average before.... though I suppose the men that were talking about me were terrified of my father and what he'd have done to them if they would have approached me. Although father's not here and he can't do anything about Alexis talking to me.' she thought happily, as well as a bit rebelliously, while she worked on braiding the seaweed into rope.{{ooc:}}

Alexis had already dug a hole half a foot deep and three feet wide by the time Aoi had returned and was mildly surprised to find the same markings on the box that had been on the staff. Interesting indeed, he thought. Fortunately the box wasn't buried more than eight inches in the sand. He was somewhat surprised when he touched the box, that he could tell exactly how large it was. Two feet tall, three and a half foot long from corner to corner, and a bit over a foot and a half wide at its shorter sides, he thought.

Aoi was actually very swift and nimble when she was making the rope from the seaweed and she had a few strands of rope that could be easily tied together to make a longer rope if needed; the rope was also very strong, even though it did not look it. "I have some of the rope done if you want to check if it will be good enough to lug the box back. It should be strong enough not to break when carrying something, though I want your opinion first. Plus I also wanted to check with you if this would be enough, although we'd probably have to dig it out completely." she said, holding out a piece of the rope for Alexis to examine, oblivious to the fact that Alexis had somehow known just how big the box was. She had several feet already braided together and was still going to make more, though she wanted to be certain that there was enough, just in case any of it broke.{{ooc:}}

Alexis tilted his head as he looked at Aoi and the rope. "I think that'll be strong enough, though it never hurts to have more than enough rope; better to have more than necessary for several reasons, like if some breaks... if it doesn't, then we can always find other uses for the rest of it," he said with a small half smile. He dug down a bit deeper until he could see where the bottom of the box rested on the sand and started digging it out from underneath before it cracked loose with a ominous crunch and slid partially into the larger, deeper hole. "Well, that'd make things easier; pull it out of the hole and then drag it around to the gorge and lower it to the tunnel where we can push it in until its in the pool beneath the cavern," he said thoughtfully.

Aoi nodded at Alexis' words as she continued to make more rope. When she finished braiding all of the seaweed into rope she looked to the box after hearing a crunch coming from that general direction. "I'm guessing it'll be easier to get out than I thought?" she asked, even thought that was pretty clear. She moved over to Alexis, handing out the rope, and realying herself to help move the box to the cavern.
The little silver fish managed to get free from the little pouch that Aoi had made to keep it from getting away and it swam right down to the box, bumping into it almost as if it wanted to help move it. Aoi laughed at this and wondered if the fish would realize that it was a tad too small to move something so much bigger than itself.{{ooc:}}

Alexis chuckled as he managed to work the seaweed rope around the box in a horizontal loop before pulling it slowly and steadily, seeing the fish attempting to push the box as he pulled it slowly, giving the illusion that the fish was pushing the box along before it had slid to the edge of the hole he'd dug out.

Aoi giggled some at the little fish that seemed to be slowly pushing the box along, even though it was actually Alexis pulling it with the rope. "He's such a strong little fish isn't he?" she said giggling, and then gave the fish praise for being such a strong little fish. The fish swam right over to Aoi, went behind her and started bumping her in the back, as if he were trying to push her over to Alexis, however, it stopped after a moment and then did the same to Alexis.{{ooc: I'm so sorry that I just vanished like that. The internet went all funny and it kicked me off sweatdrop }}

Alexis chuckled. "They do say that it isn't the size of the package, but the size of the fight in the package," he said with a shrug, amused. He was mildly surprised when the little fish nudged him towards Aoi. "Is it just me, or does every animal seem to pick up on what seems to be chemistry between us?" he said with a chuckle, half joking.

Aoi listend to Alexis and nodded at his words. She knew that the fight in this particular fish went way beyond his size. "I noticed that too... It's kind of weird, but in a good way." she said in reply to Alexis. She looked at the fish and wondered if there really was some conecction between how the dolphin had tossed the washcloth onto her should, more than once, and how this little fish was pushing her and Alexis towards one another.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged one shoulder, a slight twitch of the corners of his mouth giving away his smile. "There was a song I heard once that had a line that seems to actually fit this situation, though with a bit of a twist. The line was 'Something like this just don't exist between a
backwoods boy and a fairytale princess', though in this case, wouldn't be 'withdrawn boy and sea princess'?" he said with amusement.

Aoi noticed the twitched at the corner of Alexis' mouth, thus causing a small grin to come to her face. She listened to Alexis wholeheartedly and she said, "That sounds like a really nice song. And I bet that the dolphins and fish would agree with you about that, seeing how they are seemingly pushing us together." she said, smiling sweetly. She looked at the fish, who was yet again trying to push the box, and said, "You really want to help us don't you little guy?" She then added to the question in thought, 'With more than just moving this box maybe?' She looked to Alexis again and waited for some instruction on what she could or should do to help move the box to the cavern.{{ooc:}}

Alexis chuckled. "Probably, though I have a feeling that your singing voice would attract them more than mine. I'm not that talented when it comes to singing," he said wryly with a shrug. "I think it'd be smarter to push or try and roll it, if possible, to the gorge to preserve energy, since I have no doubt that this thing is far from light," he said with a shrug.
