You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

Your subordinate is useless, Bael told Telgove flatly, as emotions could be conveyed through telepathy... somewhat. Who cares about this Magus? Destroy the tower, and take him down with it. Use your hammer. Now. I will distract the old fool.

Mindbreakers did not take it upon themselves to play fair.

Bael's unparalleled Mindbreaking abilities entered into play, now, as a much worse pain than heightened sound began to assault the old man, who seemed to have lost half of his mind yet already. Struggle would be pitiful; Mindbreakers had not existed during this man's prime. Unless he was actually much younger than he looked.

Bael did not attempt to speak or in any other way communicate with the old man. Just a silent, relentless mental assault, for which their was no magical defense or reciprocal.

Telgove grinned deviously and held out his hammer.

"Grow..." he chanted, "grow... grow... grow..."

The hammer began to increase in size... and it didn't stop. The hammer grew and grew and grew until it's enormous head could be seen towering above the entire city, casting a shadow on half of the town. Telgove roared and swung the hammer, it's weightlessness causing the hammer to swing surprisingly fast, into the tower.

((Does it crumble to the ground or what? I am somewhat under the impression that it is protected by magic.))

(It was a month ago, dude...)

The old man flipped Telgove the bird before Bael's attack, safe behind enchanted walls of a special variety... The Ganzi would find the repercussions of an assault on it soon.

The old man's mind was fragmented and distorted. there were shattered memories scatted about, and big pieces of the man's memory were gone... as if everything that had ever been painful to this man had been forcibly yanked from his head... Bael wouldn't find pity (this RPer believes), however, by the horrific thing that had happened to this man. however, one thing was quite obvious. this old man was drunk. REALLY drunk. by what was in his head, he had been depressed, suicidal, and hadn't been sober for the past few years. He pretty much hated everyone in town by now and wanted to be left alone. Stupid Ganzi wouldn't give me my cane... echoed through the man's head... Also, there seemed to be nothing in this old man's repetiore of spells that was anything but self defense and magefire (something harmful only to others.) the tower was only stairs, books, and pillows everywhere. and a stuffed cat.

As long as he was left alone (and kept intoxicated), he was harmless, but if attacked, he'd do everything he knew at once. In fact, the old man was too worn out to do anything, and lapsed into sleep on the stairs.

(The tower is an enchantment, not a continual spell that's maintained... it's one that you just triggered.

you'll not kill old Yin so easily!)

As the hammer struck, the tower still stood, but now there was the feeling that something bad was going to happen.

Then it did.

an ehtereal duplicate appeared as he struck, coming down on him. The wizard had ingeniously cast a spell so that any strike's force would be done to the wielder.

It had been a VERY lengthy spell, and had required a scribe to be hired make, as well as an expert on spells. it had been in his prime, and it had nearly killed him. The result was the enchantment: relocation of attack towards the attacker.

had Telgove asked a villager, he would have known of the tower's spell. guards had attempted to smash the walls with hammers, only to suffer hammer blows themselves. eventually they gave up.

(you have just witnessed the classic SPI -14 Block/counter death avoidance technique... Although I thought you'd use a smaller hammer...)

((Ouch.))

Telgove met the full force of the attack, and was sent flying, crashing through building after building, and eventually hit a high stone wall. At this point, Telgove would have no more of the wizard's nonsense.

He stood up and roared at the tower, baring his claws and hunching his back.

"YOU... PITIFUL... WRETCH!!!" he yelled, "I'LL MAKE YOU REGRET EVER HAVING BEEN BORN!!!"

He began to glow again, and put his hands together, releasing the Ganzian Art.

"Ganzi Teleport!"

With a swish of the cape, Telgove was inside the tower. He stormed up the stairs, searching for the infernal wizard...

Thetower had been built as a shaft around a stone spiral staircase, with the bottom and top the only living spaces the bottom was a toilet, the top was literally filled with pillows and books (and the mage was in them somewhere...)

the staircase was thin. a human child would have had a tough time fitting Apparently it was all aesthetics and no comfort. it also smelled bad... and was filled with white noise.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 04, 2009 6:45 pm

((To those who are probably wondering how many Ganzian Arts could there possibly be, I am preparing a list of the twenty techniques that one can learn.))

Telgove hovered along the stairway up to the top floor of the tower. Although he was quite the contrary, his mastery of the Ganzian Arts made him like a god.

When he reached the top floor, the terrible stench filled his keen Ganzian nostrils, and the white noise pierced his keen Ganzian ears. He looked around at the mess of books, pillows and said cat, and lifted his cape.

"Ganzi Zephyr."

Telgove swished his cape, and a gust of wind blew throughout the room, blowing away the books, pillow and said cat into the wall. Only a few of the random items were left on the floor.

((You're up, SPI.))

All of the contents of the room hit the wall. sadly the mage was part of those contents, obscured by the mass of pillows. all that remained was a tablet in the floor with the etched list of: Things to do before I die: Everything was crossed out except "Get a girlfriend" and "Train a student nonelemental magic."

As there seemed to be absolutely no resistance in the fragmented, shattered mind... Bael simply took control. His powerful mental consciousness delved around, searching for the ioto of pure thought that was Yin's awareness. This would have to be intact, else Yin would be like a rock. Doing and thinking nothing whatsoever... and being unable to react to external or internal stimuli.

Finding this root of one's being or essence, Bael seized it with his mind as one might seize a dangling rope with their fist. With a firm grasp.

Your body, your mind, your will... all belong to me.

((THE GANZI ARTS

The ancient Ganzian Arts are a powerful assortment of magical techniques that aid the user in combat or travel. Anyone can learn a Ganzian technique, but the training required is rigorous and most have never succeeded. One would be incredibly lucky to master even one of the Ganzian Arts. Below is a list of the Ganzian Arts, in order from Level 1 to Level 20.

-Level 1: Ganzi Spiral- The user spins around like a tornado.
-Level 2: Ganzi Aura- The user surrounds him/herself in a blinding sphere of light that blinds enemies.
-Level 3: Ganzi Swift- Allows the user to dash at dizzying speeds.
-Level 4: Ganzi Blaze- The user throws a fireball of pure spirit energy at the target.
-Level 5: Ganzi Gust- The user summons a gust of wind that blows away anything in it's path.
-Level 6: Ganzi Float- Allows the user to hover above the ground.
-Level 7: Ganzi Bracer- The user's body becomes rooted to the ground, preventing him/her from being knocked down.
-Level 8: Ganzi Break- The user's fists turn to stone, increasing offensive power.
-Level 9: Ganzi Rave- The user calls up a blast of earth energy from under the ground.
-Level 10: Ganzi Rush- The user spins in a drill-like fashion.
-Level 11: Ganzi Darkblade- The user calls forth a wisp of seething dark energy that badly corrupts whatever it touches.
-Level 12: Ganzi Panic- The user sends the target into a state of extreme panic, hindering their fighting ability.
-Level 13: Ganzi Illusion- The user makes illusory copies of him/her self.
-Level 14: Ganzi Teleport- Allows the user to warp from place to place over short distances.
-Level 15: Ganzi Spikes- The user's body is covered in sharp spikes, making a balance of offense and defense.
-Level 16: Ganzi Dragoon- The user calls forth a legion of ethereal serpents to attack the target.
-Level 17: Ganzi Confusion- The user surrounds the area around him/her in a pitch-black haze.
-Level 18: Ganzi Wrath- The user shoots lightning from his/her fingertips that chains from enemy to enemy.
-Level 19: Ganzi Nova- The user envelops the area around him/her in a pillar of light energy.
-Final Level: Ganzi Unleash- Allows the user to unleash his/her Ganzian wrath, becoming a ferocious beast. Only Ganzis can master this technique.))

Telgove suddenly sensed Bael's presence; weak, but still there nonetheless.

"Lord... Bael?" he mumbled as he let the surge of Bael's power send chills down his body.

It was like trying to find a single diamond in a mountain of glass fragments. The old man was clearly off his rocker. Maybe sober it would be simple to tell fragmented memory form the old man's dreams, but they were all so similar or broken apart. There were at least ten memories split apart of him kicking a cat, and the battle with Telgove, the most recent, was all scrambled up and fading away in drunken haze. Yin Merlyn was dreaming of nothing but emptiness.
