Vostroyan Glory!
Doctrines. - Hardened Fighters - Iron Discipline - Sharpshooters - Special Equipment: Carapace armour - Special weapon squads
ALL squads have carapace armour and the hardened fighters doctrine upgrades. The Sentinels are excluded from this. May sound like a waste, but I want the force to be themed and to be honest, able to kick the arse of anything that they come across.
HQ. Senior Officer - Bolt pistol, power weapon and Iron Discipline. Veteran - Standard bearer with laspistol and ccw. Veteran - Medic with laspistol and ccw. Guardsmen (2) - Grenade launcher and laspistol and ccw.
Anti-tank support squad - Lascannons (3) and sharpshooters.
Mortar squad - Mortars.
Special weapons support squad - Sniper rifles (3).
ELITES. Veteran sergeant - Plasma pistol and power weapon. Hardened Veterans (9) - Grenade launcher and plasma guns (2).
TROOPS. Infantry platoon. Junior Officer - bolt pistol, ccw and Iron Discipline. Veteran - Medic with laspistol and ccw. Veteran - Laspistol and ccw. Guardsmen (2) - Plasma guns (2).
Veteran sergeant - Laspistol and ccw. Guardsmen (9) - Flamer.
Veteran sergeant - Laspistol and ccw. Guardsmen (9) - Heavy bolter and flamer.
Armoured Fist squad. Veteran sergeant - Bolt pistol and ccw. Guardsmen (9) - Meltagun. Chimera - Multi-laser, heavy bolter and smoke launchers.
FAST ATTACK. Sentinel - Autocannon and armoured crew compartment.
Sentinel - Lascannon and armoured crew compartment.
HEAVY SUPPORT. Leman Russ - Heavy bolters (3) and smoke launchers.

Looks like a good army. A little too close range for my taste but it seems like it should have no major problems holding its own. Though it may be that quick assualt armies like the nids may get inside of your guard too fast to let you use the special weapons effectivly.

ok the reason im posting this here is because it could effect the guard the worst were it true. Now this is about the Tau phirana TheJesus Nope they are just a skimmer that can move up to 12" BUT they are fast so they can move 24" in a turn if they want to. So I was thinking of putting seeker missiles on them turbo boot 24 up and then markerlighting a tank and shooting side armor of the tank from the Pirahnas seeker missiles. I am going to add two of them to my list. Ian Is that legal Why I think its not. The Seeker missles for the old rules said It may fired in addition to the vechiles weapons when even moving over 6". But since the vechile is mounted on has moved over 12" it may fire nothing. They say you may fire it because the Marker Light squad fires it. But all the ML squad allows it to do is fire. It still cannot fire because t counts as the vechile shooting it

Mat, it IS legal.
Seeker missiles may only be fired by units with marker lights or marker light drones. So a vehicle that is or has moved it's maximum may still launch a missile.
Seeker missiles are not fired by the vehicle carrying the projectile (with the exception of the Sky Ray) and while the missiles do not require a LOS, the marker light still does.
Posh if it's the end, grow a bloody spine! If this makes you worry you haven't been around as much as the others, each week someone else spouts something "cheesy" or "beardy" that could seriously unhinge the whole game system.

I like 'em, they have this nice balance of great fire power with an overwhelming feeling of "No, not my ******** face!" when assaulted. I mean, even Imperial Guardsmen are able to beat them in a fair fight and I know it, if you want tau dead as an Imperial Guard player, you either outshoot the bastards or just move in and bash the s**t out of them.
All that Demon s**t about Imperial Guard never getting the chance to assault is nothing but pathetic smacktalk.

I know im going to assualt tau alot. I think im really gona like this drop troops thing. I used to run my Storm Troopers as Drop Troopers and had alot of success which is how I beat Tau the first time. I was thinking the other day in a discussion on another forum we were discussing melee combat and suddenly somone mentioned at that was missing was a pair of noon-chucks and it would be a jet lee movie. Laspistol and Close Combat weapon (noon-chucks) just to be funny

-Mykal Try to remember that Gw stated that nothing can dish our more shooty death then an Imperial Guard army. Sure, there's this whole debate about the Tau having powerfull weapons, but once you get into range, they will die. I made a medic out of a normal cadian by simply adding in a back pack from the heavy weapons sprue along with a vehicle sprue head with visor. Instant medic with ccw and laspistol.

Unless the rules have changed, Tau have far more range on their weapons than Guard, and the Tau have a high chance of pinning, so the guardsmen stay out of range, while the Tau keep on firing.
That's what happened to me in a combat patrol.
That pissed me off muchly.

But, for some reason the Tau think that taking heavy weapons along in infantry squads is silly. And that is their folly.

Lt. Brookman But, for some reason the Tau think that taking heavy weapons along in infantry squads is silly. And that is their folly. Well that does quite a bit to deal with their threat since you can focus on what you want to kill more easily but those Crisis suits are able to dance in and out of LOS all day long.
