"Where would you want to go if we traveled the Four Lands?" Lin asked him.
Since they had only seen only a few places. All of the Southland sure, and the Borderlands but they had only been to the capital in the Eastland and never to the other kingdoms.

"Besides the visits we owe to people we already know?" Earendil quipped. "The Northland, Westland and western Southland are in line, I believe. I'm interested in looking at the ruins of this fortress that Aranel visited. He says it's safe."
He sat back and looked over at Lin again. "Anywhere you would like to go?"

Lin thought about it, they were already going to visit Nauros again and Earendil had listed all the places she would like to go... and he was right there would be people to visit again...
"I think you just covered everything," Lin admitted with a laugh, "Those would be all the places I would love to see."

Earendil grinned teasingly. "And shall we make it a point to see these places before we go off in search of new lands? Or do you think we might get asked to go on another voyage before then?"
His eyes sparkled with laughter, but it was true. Every time they made plans to see more of the continent, they ended up on a ship to who knew where.

She had to laugh at that, because Earendil had an excellent point about that. There was always the chance they would be taken away to another voyage.
"It is possible, or something else will happen," Lin chuckled, "But at least life isn't... routine? Or maybe this is routine."

Earendil pursed his lips thoughtfully. "If it is routine," he murmured, "is it so bad? We're being useful, raising our daughter with a good education, seeing the world, discovering history ... making history ..."
He smiled at her. "Perhaps what we need then is a place to call home, a place we can come back to between journeys. The way Nako and Neko have a home in the Borderlands, even though they're almost never there."

Lin thought about it, "That would be wonderful actually..."
Even though she hadn't even thought of moving out of her home (honestly though she should if she was going to be traveling here).
"Especially since I'm here so much, I'm always here, I visit home not the other way around these days."

Earendil chuckled. "I was meaning as a real family, with you and I being marri-"
He cut himself off and looked away, blushing furiously. "Never mind, I'm sorry, I - I didn't mean to ask - not like that -"

Lin blinked at Earendil for a moment and blushing because he was already thinking about it. Not that she hadn't thought about it, but it was probably and almost accidental proposal right then and there.
"You mean find a settled home as a family," she ventured, "I understand what you mean."

Earendil nodded, though he still couldn't bring himself to look at her, still embarrassed by the presumption he had almost voiced. He didn't know what to say after something like that. What could he say?
"At any rate," he murmured, clearing his throat, "that's in the future. Not that it's not good to think about the future, but I - I know we agreed we would take things slowly and ..."
And what? He had waited for her for so long, for so many years, decades even, and now that his dream was in sight he was finding it hard to wait. Still, he would. He owed it to Lin. To them both. Even if Miyuki was impatient.

"And one day," Lin told him firmly, "That future will be our present."
She had no doubt after all they been through one day they would be married. Even though she didn't know when would be considered the right time.

Earendil smiled warmly and the colour faded from his cheeks.
"I look forward to it," he said quietly, sincerely.
And in that split second, he made a decision. He sat up partway and looked down at Lin again. "Lin, what kind of house would you want to have?"

"House?" Lin blinked.
She hadn't thought of it at all to be honest, and to her a house was a house.
"I'm not sure what kind of houses there are," she replied sheepishly, "But I'd imagine something that would fit the three of us comfortably... and then a bit more just in case..."
Well what was the chances she would adopt again? There was always that chance and she was the most likely out of all her siblings to adopt again after having one.
"Well... you know if maybe another child came..."

"If ..."
Earendil smiled at the thought of that. Another child ... who knew what the future would bring? He had no hopes for a physical child, she was an angel, he was an elf; but if they could adopt another ...
"Wouldn't that be wonderful?" he chuckled softly.

Lin grinned up at him, "You never know. Even Cindy has Vincent and she hasn't stepped foot into Gaia since she came to teach Rhea."
And in fact Lin had a strong suspicion that Cindy would prefer to stay in the Four Lands, she was quite happy there.
