Talis hung his head, thumb sliding back and forth over the smooth leather in his hand. He wished things weren't so complicated. Hearing Radevel's more urgent tone, Talis shifted anxiously from one foot to another. What did he want? Deep down, Talis knew: he wanted to be loved back. But Talis wouldn't voice this desire-- it wasn't appropriate to, or so he felt in some way.
Instead, Talis replied softly, "I'm afraid of you... hurting me."

Radevel just couldn't bring himself to see the situation through Talis's point of view. His fists clenched and unclenched as thoughts rushed through his mind of just what he could do. In a cautious manner, he took one step forward. And then another until there were only about two feet separating himself and the other. "That was only because I thought you had done something you hadn't done," he said. "I was really upset.. Needless to say."
"Talis, I.. I really want you to come back with me," he said. That had probably been the closest thing he had ever come to telling Talis how he really felt about him. About those painfully developing feelings for him. He just wondered how much Talis was going to cause him to confess.

Quite unaware of the internal struggle he might've been causing Radevel, Talis was a bit too caught up in his own. And not only that, but he felt somewhat comfortable speaking at a distance of five feet or so between them. However, as Radevel sought to close that distance, Talis's fears became more obvious. Trembling overtook the youth's tense frame, and he crossed his arms more tightly over his chest in a guarded manner. So many days he wanted nothing more than Radevel to be close to him, but now, he didn't want a single touch. He was too frightened the next action between Radevel and him would be one similar to this morning despite the man's claim. "The only reason I said I'd done it was because you wouldn't take 'NO' for an answer, Rad. You wanted it to be me. I thought if I gave you that, you might've... been more merciful to me for at least apologizing!" he exclaimed, bitter tears coming upon his face, "H-how can you expect m-me to just accept that you were upset and that justifies what you d-did? I had to beg for your mercy. And this wasn't like... you know, other times. Yes, you made a mistake. But you're not even sorry for it. It could happen again-- and you would just think 'Talis'll forgive me and trust me and everything will be just fine!' Everything's not fine!" The boy drew in a shaky breath and stared back at Radevel's blue hues with the man's final statement.
The youth's brow softened slightly, and he released a sigh. The sky's redness was fading to purple and the sun was setting quickly. "Well.. just... um. We should really get him to a hospital or something..." Talis murmured, starting to kneel down again by the slowly stirring man. "Let's just get some car to drive us to the next exit and ... we can finish this later."

A part of himself was relieved Talis drew his attention to another subject, but his other half wanted to get this out of the way while the matter was still thick in the air. Radevel almost snapped back with the remark about 'Who would honestly pick up three guys, two of them covered in blood, and one being unconcious?' But he dashed such comments out of his mind. No need to make Talis even more upset than he already was. No need to start a whole new stream of emotions of himself, either.
"Alright," the larger man muttered, looking up and down the road. The cars were so much more scarce than that within the city, but such was to be expected. Sighing, once more cursing his lack of phone service, he stuck out his thumb.
Nearly twenty minutes passed before an old, beat-up truck slowed and pulled off to the side of the road near them. "Yall boys needin' a ride?" he asked, eyeing the unmoving man on the ground with a shake of the head. "Looks like you've hit a bit of trouble. Well, can't say I got much room up here, but there's plenty'a room in the back."
Without waiting for Talis's approval, Radevel moved over to scoop up the unconcious man and none-too-gently lay him in the bed of the truck. "Thanks," he said to the driver, before climbing in himself. "Talis. Let's go."

Talis waited quietly, gently inspecting the man's injuries as Radevel finally flagged down a car. He only looked up when Radevel moved and took the man out from underneath his fretting fingers. It appeared they were going with a bit of a... well Talis couldn't pass judgement. Beggars couldn't be choosers. Muttering a 'thank you' of his own, Talis climbed in last, scooting to the other side of the truck bed as the man started his car back onto the highway.
The wind at the speed caused blonde locks to whip about his face, so Talis sunk as low as possible in the bed. He looked at the still-unconscious man, dried blood marking his clearly misshapen nose.
"You broke his nose," Talis mumbled with disapproval after a few miles of silence.

Radevel didn't even bother to look at the man lying in the truck. He didn't want to see his face, no matter how much satisfaction it would bring him to observe the damage he caused. "Huh.. So I did," he said in a voice all too nonchalant, obviously not carrying an ounce of care for his well-being. His gaze remained locked down the road, facing the wind to keep his hair from stinging his eyes. How far had they gotten on that forsakken bus before they were so rudely thrown off? he thought to himself, eyeing the long expanse of road ahead. At least the cool air was of some relief to his throbbing headache.

Talis couldn't help feeling horrible for the man. Why couldn't Radevel be reasonable? He just... did such irrational, extreme things without explanation and then acted as though they meant nothing.
So why should Talis be any different than this man? He certainly identified with the man on the level of being beaten by Radevel, even though the situations were hardly similar.
Talis scoffed and looked up at Radevel. "Do you have to be like that?" he questioned accusingly, "It's over. And, he didn't do anything. I was the one who kissed him, shouldn't you have just 'punished' me again, instead? It's not like there's a difference..." Talis clearly harbored bitter feelings.

"Well, that would be stupid.. Because I plainly saw him practically lapping at your face when I first got on the bus," Radevel stated, crossing his arms defensively. So much for any beginning of peace between Talis and himself. He knew if he was given the chance again, he would have beaten that man just as he had done before.
"Just answer me something, Talis," Radevel said, turning his eyes down to the boy. "Why did you kiss him? Did you want him? Or was it, perhaps, to exact some sort of revenge?"

Talis rolled his eyes and looked away at the description Radevel gave of the man's actions. 'Lapping at his face'? Radevel just had to make it sound as disgusting as the actual act had felt. But what business was it Radevel's who Talis associated with?
Talis glanced back at Radevel with the other's questions. He knew he hadn't wanted the man. "Because..." he began, but cut off. Why did Radevel deserve to know?
"... well, if it doesn't really matter, I don't see why you need to know, Rad," he finished flippantly.

Feeling his eyes become dry against the persistant wind, Radevel closed them with a shake of his head. "It does matter," he said matter-of-factly, his words getting pulled through the air, leaving them behind as the truck moved on. "Are you listening to me, Talis? It does matter. I'll say it a hundred more times if I have to to get it through your head, if that's what it will take. I just want you to answer the question.. Why'd you do it?"
Radevel just hated the idea of Talis's lips claiming another man's. Especially not after just the night before when the boy had confessed so much to him. Things he thought to just be the other's infatuation of innocent youth.

Talis eyed Radevel for a moment. He longed to know what was going through the man’s mind. Was he being truthful? In the end, Talis caved, deciding it would be best just to admit his reasoning. “Originally, I was going to do it because I… hoped it would make you stop choking him. But even though you did, you... you just made me so angry at you!” he huffed, sliding down lower in the truck bed on the other side of the fallen man. “I kissed him because I thought it was the only way you’d take me seriously.”
The truck driver pulled off at the next exit that indicated a hospital, and the truck’s speed slowed considerably. “And the way you spoke to me… well, why shouldn’t I just do something so befitting of a whore? Obviously you assumed that I ‘would’ve kissed him anyway’ and was enjoying his advances thoroughly,” Talis finished bitterly.

"What a way to gain respect.. Tangling tongues with a disgusting stranger," Radevel muttered sarcastically under his breathe. Despite wanting to get on better terms with Talis, he couldn't help his 'being an a**' way of speaking. It just came all too natural to him. And whether he had been the cleanest, most good-looking man, Radevel would still have considered him 'disgusting'.
"Well, considering you were doing nothing to stop him, one would only assume you did enjoy it," the larger man stated. The hospital came into the view rapidly and before long, they pulled up in front of it. "Look, I'll check this guy into one of the rooms, and we can finish this over something to eat." Hoisting the more plump man out of the truck with only a small amount of strain, he voiced his gratitude to the driver.

Talis picked up the tail end of Radevel's stinging mutterings, yet said nothing. He simply looked the other way as the truck pulled around to the emergency room doors.
Turned off by the other's consistently worsening demeanor-- or so it seemed to hardly be improving-- Talis slid out of the truck bed quietly after Radevel and with a wave to the driver, disappeared into the building following Radevel.
While his recent lover carried the bloodied lech toward the desk to check him in, Talis chose a seat in a corner of the waiting area. His knee bounced up and down anxiously and he looked around at the sparse patients waiting for treatment.
... He hated hospitals. There was too much blood, pain... needles.

Seeing a fair amount of surprise and worry from the nurses at the counter as Radevel made to check in, he refused the many offers to get himself examined. The blood staining his hands and shirt weren't his, afterall. The worst he had was a few minor cuts and a purple bruise forming on his jaw. As the man was taken away to one of the emergency rooms, he explained that they just had a bit of a 'friendly disagreement' over a sportings event on TV. Apparently, as Radevel put it, the guy had had a little too much to drink and was becomming easily provoked. Without answering anymore of their questions, he want to the restroom and washed off all the blood and dirt he could before returning to the waiting room.
Radevel spotted Talis- whoappeared oddly nervous- immediatly among the others. Running a freshly cleaned, now strawberry-scented hand through his hair, he released a heavy breath before approaching. "All set," he said. "You.. ready to grab some food?"

Talis looked up at Radevel and nodded, abruptly standing. It was the first time he'd seen the white-haired man so closely since the bus trip, and Talis spied the other's bruised jaw with begrudged concern.
As he followed Radevel toward the exit, a hesitant hand finally struck out to grab ahold of the man's wrist. "A-are you okay?" he asked finally, though he had to keep his eyes determinedly averted from the older one's face. "Should we... maybe have them check you while we're here and make sure... everything's.. in the right place?" The youth's concern was awkward, but it was present.
