You walk through the dark, shadowed forest. In the middle of a clearing, with one single ray of light centered on it, is a mirror. What do you see when you look at it?
I see my reflection - I see who I really am inside.
I see who I have become - all my past efforts and endeavors roll before my eyes.
I see potential - the future, with all its possibilties, becomes clear to me.
I see my inner demons. I recognize them, so that I may conquer them.
I see darkness; the mirror is not a mirror, but a window to my soul.
I see someone else - the mirror is not a mirror, but a window, showing me my heart's true desire.
I refuse to examine the mirror. It is an illusion - I do not need it to tell me what I already know.

The battle ended just in time for the Plasma Spell to lose it's effect and disappear. Only about a dozen Sentinels were left to limp and wander and run around in small circles; most of them were missing multiple limbs and other various body parts, such as their heads. Raedou walked around, finishing off whatever was left even remotely alive. It was quite satisfying.

Perrault looked back at the city gates, which were still locked tight. He turned to Raedou.

"So what do we do now, Raedou?" he asked.

Raedou sighed, took out his map and scribbled out the nice line he had drawn. Doing this wracked his heart with grief.

"Well, we have no choice but to go through the Mines of Kalesteses, since we obviously will not be able to make our way to Eopia through Erebus."

He drew a new line on his map. He groaned, because this line was not as nice as the last one.

"The Mines are dark and trecherous, but it's a straight shot to Eopia if we make it."

Perrault looked at the map and gasped.

"The Mines of Kalesteses?! You mean the Gravity Mines?! We'll never get through before we buckle under the brutal gravity in there! Raedou, are you mad?!"

"No, it'll be fine. I packed some items that will protect us from the cave's high gravity."

Raedou turned around and began to quietly giggle at himself.

"Well, let's be off. The sooner we are out of those mines, the better."

And so they started towards the Mines of Kalesteses... they would reach Eopia very soon.

((Interesting... and I like the Horde banter. Originally, the Horde was going to be only located in Rantuinne, but I like this better. The largest of the Horde - huge, towering behemoths the size of a castle - are still focused in Rantuinne, though, in the depths of the desert sands. Okay, now introducing my new character, who doesn't even have a profile left.))

A lone figure was watching the battle from his place atop the castle armaments. He was precariously balanced on a thin beam of wood projecting from the very top of a large lookout tower. He was dressed in black garb; a long, fluttering cloak that moved and swayed with the wind. His dark hair covered his eyes for the most part, and the lone book he held in his hands dangled down towards the ground that plummeted below.

Suddenly the entire city was awash in activity. Guards and soldiers all along the walls, the towers, and the crenelations. They were armed with bows and crossbows, and some with slings and others with javelins. Far worse, however, was the large ballistae being readied on the larger, inner war towers. Ballistae could launch huge spears a great, long distance with little ere in their accuracy.

Trebuchet, as well, were being armed. These launched a great many rocks in a wide-spread pattern over the land, resulting in thousands of tiny, deadly projectiles.

The figure standing on the beam, however, simply raised his finger and let a harsh light engulf the castle... and when the light faded, moments later, he was falling through the air, upright, without flailing, simply gliding down towards the valley below. Erebus was, you see, located above the valley that surrounded it. A drop was a sure death, and it was a tiring climb up to the gates from the valley below on all sides.

However, the figure was not falling, actually, but just gliding. Gliding while standing tall, however. His cloak fluttered continuously as he descended, and the entirety of the city walls behind him seemed to be temporarily blinded.

After a few minutes, the magus landed gently a mere ten yards away from the two who had been (or still were) fighting the Horde. He seemed to be their ally, from what anyone could tell from these events thus far.

((Dang it I didn't post fast enough! Can you squeeze him in to join you, perhaps?))

((Yes. Farfarello is one of those "I'm-so-easy-to-read-it's-not-even-funny,-really, Characters. Lol. [Sure makes it easy to write, though...]))

The internal struggle instantly stopped gnawing at Farfarello as the most peculiar beam of light caught his eye. With a last sidelong glance at the brawl and a small chortle at very flustered looking Clem, he shot towards the source. This world contained so many secrets.
Farfarello slowed as small city lights caught his eye from behind the gate, when the source of the light had become very apparent, though still unbelievable; he watched intently as Raedou in all of his strangely-shaped armor's glory swung the sword in his flamboyant Ganzian style. The scene before him was impossible, one would say; what with the two people fighting, one odd enough by himself, then his sword, the other doing what seemed to be casting spells with stones outside of a city in Baelta, fighting an endless amount of - what did they call them? - oh yes, the Hoarde.
It seems like everyone I meet, the demon thought, has a death wish. Or they're all just morons. Then the thought crossed his mind that perhaps one of these two would be the one to free him.
It was suddenly not funny if they were to die.

As they walked, Perrault looked around. He was a bit frightened to see two strange figures; one, running towards them, and the other watching them from a distance. Nervous, he tugged on Raedou's arm.

"What is it, Perrault?" mumbled Raedou, already tasting the unpleasant gravitational experience that would soon come to pass.

"Well, it appears that we have a freakish-looking stalker and... uhh, someone running towards us, most likely with the intent to kill us... Can we run?"

"No... we must face them head on... and burn their bodies after we kill them.
I hear that the Horde can take the dead up as hosts..."

He shivered at the thought.

"Okay..." said Perrault, "Can I run?"

"There will be no running!! Now, I have plan. Here is what you do..."

Raedou whispered in Perrault's ear.

"Do you understand?" asked Raedou.

"Yes, but... is that really necessary?"

"Of course it is! Get ready."

Perrault waited, drops of sweat sliding down his forehead.

"NOW!!" Raedou bellowed.

Perrault held up a yellow curser and yelled the magic words.

"RAZU DEGRA!"

A thin bolt of lightning struck the tree dweller out of his hiding place, burning the tree to the ground in the process.

Raedou spun around and sprinted towards the lone warrior, sword drawn and ready to go. While running, he held up his finger and pointed it at the warrior, yelling the proper words:

"TOR BOROT!"

A powerful force swiftly smashed down on his target, causing dust to rise
from the ground. Raedou could not see what happened to the warrior...

The magus (who had been thirty feet away) was still standing, looking dumb-founded. Then he laughed - not very dramatically, just a simple mix between a real laugh and a chuckle.

"I suggest you hear me out before you attack me," the man called out, "if you don't want an entire city to kill you with arrows, rocks, ballista bolts, and other assorted projectiles."

He began - slowly - striding closer, hands at his sides, walking steadily. The magic seemed to have not affected him whatsoever. Which meant, of course, that he was magic.

"I did just save your lives," the man added as an afterthought, while still approaching.

OGTHX. XD ))

A stream of colorful words tumbled out of Farfarello's mouth as he leapt away from what used to be the tree. Obviously and quite irritatingly, that spellcaster had seen him, and - also in the same condition, - those two were dangerous to him. Trying to erase the very unfriendly look from his face, Farfarello approached the duo - plus strangeness number three. "Freakish-looking?" He repeated, "Stalker? That's a bit harsh. I was only observing." The forever-present half-smirk shone on a face with heavily lidded eyes. Farfarello stayed at mid-range from them.

"My apologies... I thought you were one of those Baeltan racists. My friend uses magic, you see, and I would prefer that he go unharmed. "

Raedou also walked closer. He tried his best to hide his limp; he could not
let this stranger and possible enemy know that he had a bad leg.

"My name is Raedou Ganzi. I am traveling to Eopia with my young elven friend, Perrault Terris. What is your name, stranger?"

((Since Raedou and Perrault are currently not together, Raedou's role will be in green and Perrault's will be in blue. I will do this whenever they are apart so that nobody gets confused.))

Perrault raised an eyebrow at the demon's strange form. He did nothing more; only looking at the demon and thinking of what to do next.

"What would Raedou do...?" he thought to himself. Then, he realized what Raedou would do, which was not very pleasing to him. He decided to think for himself like he used to, instead of thinking of what Raedou's course of action (Which, apparently, is usually very rash).

Then, finally, he slowly walked over to the demon, and stared him right in the eyes. Suddenly, a smile crept across his face, and he began to poke the demon on the nose.

"By Lady Elysia's gem, what are you?!"

Instead of recoiling as a normal person may have done, Farfarello pushed his forehead against Perrault's. Mimiking the alchemist's voice to almost exactness he said, "By Lady Elysia's gem, that is the phrase I swear I hear the most!"

The robed man smiled. "I would think that seeing me survive the drop from that castle over yonder," he spoke with a gesture towards the towering Baelta, which looked like fifty castles from their vantage point. "Would prove me a magus as well."

"But to answer your question, Raedou, my name is Ephlas," he replied. "Scholar of sorts, but more of a practitioner of arcane arts. I cannot travel from Baelta unharmed, you see, for reasons of my own. Since I have just saved you from a holey death by arrows, I would request that you take me with you wherever you're going. Rantuinne would be preferable, but any place other that this corrupted hell pit would be nice."

It went without saying that Ephlas could be of help, but then again, his reason given could be a complete lie. He had a pleasant, smiling face, but that was also possible for the cruelest, most wicked of tyrants to look, 'pleasant.'
PostPosted: Fri Dec 05, 2008 8:22 pm

Raedou looked down and thought for a minute.

Ephlas could indeed be useful. And, lucky for him, Raedou liked to seek out the positive aspects of people instead of the negative.

"We would be happy to bring you along, my spell-weaving friend. We are currently headed for the Mines of Kalesteses, so I hope you are well prepared... I left my pack over by Perrault... Follow me."

As he walked, he saw the demon throwing a temper tantrum, and little Perrault rolling on the floor with laughter. He grunted in irritation.

"I'm getting to old for this..."

Perrault howled with laughter.

"I'm sorry... did I offend you?" he asked, wiping a tear from his eye.

It was against Perrault's moral code to disrespect any form of life, no matter how freakish or disgustingly deformed it might be.

"I didn't mean to hurt your feelings... My name is Perrault Terris. What's yours?"

Feelings? Farfarello thought, and laughed out loud. "No, no, not at all, it's just that's the second time I've heard that today alone. I'm Farfarello." Named demon's tail waved fluidly back and forth, his skin blending in well with the night sky. "And what are those rocks you were using?" He gave a sidelong glance at Raedou and Ephlas before returning his gaze to Perrault.

"Oh, dear." Ephlas frowned as he recognized Farfello. "Not you... aye, Raedou, if this... being is your ally, we will be in for a long trip, a long one indeed... by Lady Elysia's toe...."
