Allora's eyes remained fixed on the other for a long moment before they fluttered to a close as she sighed and then flickered back open again. "....No, I wouldn't," she said quietly, the wind beginning to die down. There were flowers and other remnants of foliage scattered around the room as a result of the winds.
Her dark eyes focused on Haar's and she held his gaze steadily as she spoke. "But anyone who tries to hurt my son will not leave unharmed," she said, her voice no longer cold or angry. She sounded more... normal now. But slightly empty - almost as if her own anger had taken everything out of her.
"Mother..." Alti began slowly, and Allora's gaze flickered onto him. "Why would... how could knowing of my parentage hurt? It's not exactly a secret that I'm a failure at Storms magic and half the Kingdom already think that -- that you had an affair with someone from the Fire Kingdom and that I'm... not a pure blood," he said in a rush, unable to stop the cascade of words that fell from his lips. He had held this flood back for years and was finally voicing what he had never had enough courage to say.

TableTopWatch KineticTang As the sun fell from the sky and night approched, K felt himself being gently rocked back and forth by the horse's trot. He couldnt help but become sleepy. It must be torture to ride horses all the time, he thought to himself. He was determined to stay awake, but the comforting grip of Cain's arm around his waist wasnt helping. His head began to nod and he felt himself sinking in and out of sleep. "I need to get some water from my pack or i'll fall asleep" he mumbled to Cain, reaching for his pack on the side of his horse. Cain frowned gently, reaching back for the younger teen's pack, handing it to him easily. "We'll be at the castle soon enough, an hour or so at most. I don't care if you sleep, but I'm worried you'd fall off again," he murmured softly, easing himself against the other in order to give the younger teen some sort of support should he end up falling asleep.K grabbed the water and took a long drink before replacing it in his pack. "No, i'll be fine" he said. About two minutes later he was fast asleep, leaning back into Cain. His head was resting on Cain's shoulder and his lips were slightly parted. He may have seemed peaceful, but his dreams said otherwise. The darker things that lurked in his mind often made thenselves noted in his dreams, but he dismissed them as dreams and carried on with his life.

Haar was about to reply, but stopped once Alti started to speak. Grip loosening on the teen's hand, Haar eventually let go, leaving his hand stil near the other's as his gaze flickered around the wind-blown room. Cupping a petal in his palm, one that had gotten caught up under a dish, the young soldier stared at the pale colored petal for a few moments until the tiny, fragile remnant lost his interest and he found his red eyes back on Alti, waiting for an explanation for the woman's outburst.

Cain knew that the few moments of alertness due to the cold water would not last. It was obvious the teen was incredibly tired from all his journeying and the knight supposed the steady rocking of the horse was not doing anything to help. The young knight almost smiled as he watched K slip into sleep, dark eyes flickering over the other as his head finally dipped backwards, a soft slow breath leaving him. Keeping a grip around the other's waist to keep him from falling, Cain sighed lightly, well, if anything his horse would be much more relaxed...

Allora's expression softened as her son spoke and she turned so that she was fully facing the two. "Alti..." she murmured softly, a small look of concern on her features. "I... know what everyone says. But it's not true..." she said, her voice full of compasion. "I... I don't want to hurt you... I...." she began, for once seeming to be unsure. It was as if all her self-confidence had vanished to now be replaced by this tender... concerned woman.
"I'll be fine," Alti replied, a soft frown set into his lips. "Mom, I'm not... not as fragile as you think I am."
Allora sighed and bent down to pick her chair up from the ground and then sat down in it. "I... Alti, do you... remember your aunt Clara? My sister?" Alti nodded slowly. Aunt Clara had died a decade or so ago... but he remembered her quite vividly.
"She's not your aunt... and... and I'm not you mother," Allora said heavily, her eyes lowering to fix on her hand.
((Ack. This sounds like some cheasy soap opera. Dx;;;;; ))

[[OMGSOAPOPERA. The yaoi makes it all good though, no worries. XD]]
Haar blinked several times, nearly gawking at the woman who was apparently not Alti's mother. Glancing between the two, the young man frowned. But they looked so much alike... and their stubbornness was enough to convinvce him that they were related.
Crushing the petal within his palm, Haar lowered his gaze. He didn't feel it would be right to make any sort of judegemtn on the situation, especially when the woman hadn't finished...

K's dreams were less than pleasing. He was walking up the steps of a tower. When he reached the top there was a solid oak door that swung open with a creak. The room he enetered was a huge gothic styled chamber, the stones were all filled with elaborate and evil looking carvingsm. The man's pitch black hair was pale in comparison to the the dark bloody armor he wore. K felt himself drawn to the man and as he came closer he saw that the man was standing over the bloody corpse of a slain cleric, who's face was too scared to distinguish. K looked back at the man as he turned to face K. That face. He woke with a start about 2 hours after he fell asleep. He began to look around franticly. He remembered that he was with a man named Cain, traveling to the Fire Kingdom capital. Relief flooded him as he felt no prescence of evil.

Alti stood there, an expression on his features that mingled shock with bewilderment. "Then... wha... who--?"
"Your mother was my sister, Clara.... She... took up with some noble from the Kingdom of Fire around the time my late husband was courting me.... We were even scheduled to have our children around the same time.... But I was married... and she was not and her lover died in some affair.... And I miscarried. The best option seemed to be for me to take you...." she said slowly, almost as if she had forgotten and was explaining it to herself, rather than to her no-longer-son.
Alti sank slowly to his chair, his breathing becoming shallow. He was... to put it simply, he was a b*****d child and and orphan.

Haar could've said something to Alti, something along the lines that he could understand what the teen was feeling... But he couldn't. He was technically an orphan, but he had grown up knowing that very well... He had not been lied to for almost two decades because of a stupid secret. A secret that he didn't feel had been worth keeping from the world, much less the boy himself.
"But you're still his mother, right?" Haar asked, looking up from the petal he had crumpled into nothing but velvety scraps. "You're the one that's taken care of him all his life, I think that's what parents usually do," he murmured, looking down once more, feeling almost intrusive by speaking.
-----
Cain clearly felt the teen wake with a start, tensing against him. Making sure to keep an arm around him lest he freak out and move around, Cain leaned forward slightly, "You okay?"

"Yes fine, perfectly fine, nothing to worry about at all" K blurted out quickly. He was worried about it. That face. But he wouldnt think about it. It was just a dream, right? He windered why he had ever left home. He had been safe there, he should have chosen to stay. He sighed and steadied himself on the horse.

((Haha... my kitty is being so cute!!! x3 She must hate me by now, though.... I carry her around with me everywhere like a sack of potatoes... and she just purrs the whole time..... Now she's on my lap and being all cute and kitten-y and purry. x3 *squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeness* <3))
Allora nodded. "I... no matter what, Alti... I'm... still your mother," she murmured slowly, a soft smile touching her lips. "And I will always love you... even... even if you do lie to me about being in love so that you won't have to deal with my suitors."
This minor shock seemed to bring Alti out of his larger shock (more like stupor) and a small smile twitched onto his lips. And then he was laughing almost hysterically. "I... you... knew?" he asked through his laughter.
Allora nodded. "How could I not? You pressed the point very well when the two of you were in the waiting hall. I was outside the door, waiting for a break in the conversation so I could come in."

((Haha... well, she's not really a kitten any more.... I got these two little kitties at the vet's and they're about a year old each now (even though they're not related, they're about the same age). Wizard (the boy) is completely paranoid and doesn't like being picked up, but likes to be petted a lot... as long as I'm stationary and he comes to me rather than the other way around. And Moxy (the girl) is just awesome. She's sooooo sweet. She purrs almost constantly and is very laid back. =3 She'ssosweet. I loves her guts su much. ;3; ))

[[I'm allergic to cats. 8D]]
Haar's hand clenched significantly as he glared at the woman. "You made me go through all of that for over an hour when you knew?!" He supposed it would be hard for anyone to keep theri cool after having been conned liked that, but for any fire native it was approximately ten times harder to ease out anger in a constructive manner. "Why didn't you say anything?" He demanded upon knowing, glaring lightly at Alti's mo- ...whatever she was.
-----
"M'kay," Cain absentmindedly replied, urgiung his horse to go a little faster through the dark so they'd reach the castle within the hour. "You feeling less sleepy now?" He asked, relishing in the cool air of the night.

Allora considered the question for a moment before answering. "Mmmm... it was fun to watch you squirm," she said, her usual bright smile in place on her lips. "Alti's never been particularly good at lying, anyway, snd the pair of you seemed rather uncomfortable with each other -- and Alti is not at all the type to fall head over heals in love with anyone... evenif I do try to make him," she said with a small, knowing smile. "So I would have figured it out sooner or later, anyway."
Alti shook his head slowly and slumpt down into his chair, a small smile lingering on his lips. He wasn't even sure why he was smiling. After all, he had just found out that his mother was not his real mother and... and all that crap. But he found that he didn't exactly care, either.
