Haucon stopped on the stairwell. The gears in his mind were ticking away at double speed. There has to be something I can do. He looked at the group behind him. There were too many of them for him to cast an illusion over them all, the envelope could only stretch so much.

He pulled a knife from his pocket and idly flipped it, unsure of what to do, and time was running out. If Violet's waiting for us outside, then the best thing for us is for her to think that we're haven't left, but motion is almost impossible to mask via illusion. he thought to himself. He stomped his foot in irritation with himself, that he couldn't think of anything. Changing the building won't help any, especially if she's outside already. I could change her appearance, but that wouldn't help us at all either. He looked at the spray paint can in his other hand and shook it experimentally, it ticked back and forth.

They were running out of time and nothing was coming to him. "Holly!" he said after a while. "You're an angel, yeah? Can you produce really bright light?" he asked hopefully. "Violet hates light, and I think our best bet is to blind her, which will give us a chance to make a dash. I can't conjure anything here because she's expecting it and will see through it..." he explained.

Holly's eyes snapped to Haucon when he said her name. She blinked, then amusedly replied, "Of course I'm an angel. But, yes, I could do that. I could also spread it out over the area so they cannot pin down precisely where we escape to."

After a pause, she added a little more quietly, "Unless.... one of our pursuers can sense our auras. I might be able to mask my own, but I don't know if I have developed enough experience to mask everyone's auras...."

She moved towards the front, by Haucon with a smile. "Let me know when you're ready."

She was glad to be able to do something.

Dream grinned. Haucon wasn't too bad, he knew how to take advantage of things. Holly's light magic far surpassed his own amount, and he was quite able to blind Violet; he could only imagine what she would do this time. It was a good start. Now to attempt to improve it.

"I'll attempt to help too, I'll surround us with a sphere of air that would be able to eliminate any sound we make. Sound is really only vibrations in the air, so keeping the air steady would stop it. That barrier would also stop most physical and some elemental magic attacks, but I'll keep it really close to us so it's not sensed. Plus, it's just air, so it'd be invisible; they wouldn't see it. What do you think?"

Kihaku listened silently to Holly, Haucon and Dream, calculating their chances of escape. Sending a quick glance at Dream, she motioned to the walls surrounding them. "I can put a barrier up around the building after we leave so that it seems like we're still in there, if you want..."

Holly nodded in understanding. "That's good, Dream, Kihaku. Shall we put it into action?"

((Darn! Why are goodies never easy to defeat *sigh* lol xd ))

Violet frowned to herself as she waited for the group to leave the building. She was barely breathing so she wouldn't make any sound, and her wings were wrapped around her sides a little to make sure her long dark hair didn't come into veiw. However, all these efforts seemed to be in vain, the group didn't seem to be going anywhere. 'Unless, they know of my location' she thought darkly. With as little noise as possible she slipped out her dark sunglasses ffrom her pocket and put them on. They were strong enough to stop her from going permanantly blind, but it wouldn't help with the pain. Violet just gritted her teeth behind her smile. She'd just have to grin and bare it, she thought, chuckling silently at her own pun.

Haucon nodded to the others. "That should work well. If we stick close, I can try and cast an illusion around us, but to make things easier, everyone should be touching someone else. I can't make us invisible, but if Dream can mask our aura, Kihaku will make it seem like we're still inside, and Holly will blind Violet, we might just be able to make it."

He led the way down the stairs and stopped at the door. He took the spray paint from his pocket again and shook it. "This is going to be a barrier and as you walk through it, you'll feel a slight squeeze, but on the other side you'll look completely different..." he explained adding "that is if all goes well..." to himself at the end. He began to spray paint geometric symbols on the wall, circles with lines through them, triangles in squares, all the while whispering under his breath. His eyes were closed and he felt a brief regret at not having been able to grab his subway poster, which with all it's notes and information might have been his only way home. Finally he turned to the opposite wall in the hall and repeated the procedure. Haucon put his hands on either side of the writing and pushed against the wall. Again it shuddered, and this time, the whole building shook, the light rattled and plaster fell from the ceiling. "Buildings here aren't used to magic... " he explained as he dusted off his hands. "Alright. Everyone ready?" he asked, he reached out and took Leila's hand, putting her other hand in Liam's. "Everyone link up, and try and stay close." he said.

Liam took Leila's other hand in his and watched while Haucon led them through. He situated the cat on his shoulder before taking hold of Holly's hand. Liam felt strange that he couldn't do anything to help with the plan, but if it came to it he could always fight for them. He also worried about Lucky, praying to himself that the cat wouldn't jump off his shoulder. Praying. The bandage which wrapped around and concealed Liam's neck began to itch, and he narrowed his eyes. He couldn't do anything about it now, he'd have to wait.

Kihaku nodded and closed her eyes for a moment, mumbleing a few words under her breath. She could feel the magic gathering in the tips of her fingers, heat swimming through her body at the sensation. Kneeling so that she could reach the floor, she gently placed both hands palm down and muttered a few more words, burning a small, oddly shaped symbol into the ground with closed eyes. After a few seconds had passed she stood and opened her eyes. Seeing that the others were holding onto each other, she grabbed one of Holly's and Dream's hands, before looking to Haucon. "As soon as the first person steps out of the building the barrier will go up."

((lol, everyone wants to hold my hand!!))

Holly accepted Liam's and Kihaku's hands and followed them, keeping an eye out for Violet. She also muttered to the two whose hands she clasped, "I'm going to have to put your hands on my shoulders or my wings when I use my magic. My hands are my conduits of control."

Leila glanced at both Haucon and Liam before closing her eyes, wondering what exactly would happen, and if it would actually work to fool Violet. Her hair bristled a bit in nervousness, resulting in it looking as if it were uncombed, and the goosebumps ran up her arms.

((sorry for the short post ^^; ))

Haucon moved to the edge of the barrier. "Everyone ready?" he asked quietly. For the first time it occurred to him that he might be about to die. He hesitated, hand reaching for the door knob. He let it fall back to his side and turned around. So many pairs of eyes greeted his, but he saw only one set. He leaned down and let his lips brush against Leila's only for a second. I love you. he thought to himself as he straighted up. He squeezed her hand and took a deep breath before stepping through the barrier.

Violet emerald eyes stared through her glasses, her head twisting sharply. She'd thought for a moment that...but she wasn't too sure. Risking her ambush she sank the last few feet so she was standing on the ground, a few feet away from the door to its right. She was staring at it intently, and she thought she saw the air flicker.
"Hell's Bells..." she muttered under her breath.

Time to go. Dream allowed Kihaku to grab his left hand, making sure his right hand was ready for any quick powers. For some reason, most of his power was just done through his mind, he rarely had to make any sort of gesture, but it was easier to direct where he wanted his power to go if he had some way to indicate it more clearly. (He didn't have anyone holding his right hand, as he was in the back of the line.) He wasn't sure how well an air barrier would mask auras, but it would certainly stop any physical attack, as well as some forms of magic, mostly of the elemental type (Fire, water, wind, and earth). It wouldn't stop light, shadow, or psychic energy, though, and he figured that was what would be used most often. For that, he just hoped that they would be able to avoid everything, and if someone did get hit, hopefully they could live long enough for him to get around to healing them. He wasn't concerned with himself, considering he would heal himself automatically, but he couldn't do it as soon as it happened to someone else... except perhaps Kihaku, who he was in direct contact with at the moment.

Haucon stepped through the barrier he had made. At that precice moment, he unleashed his power to make a completely invisible barrier around them in the air. It was a type of magic that really couldn't be sensed, and it allowed light to pass through it fine, but sound could not pass it. Almost perfect for their use. He would follow everyone else, so he waited for the moment in which they began moving.

Holly inhaled deeply, then followed the others through as they filed out after Haucon. Carefully, she moved Liam's and Kihaku's hands to her shoulders to give her room to use her powers. Since she was shorter than either of them, it was probably slightly more comfortable for them anyways.

Intently, she looked around, watching for Violet's position, waiting for the right moment to throw her light at her.
