Kon didn't notice anything until the silence stretched on for too long. He looked up at Ryu to find tears trickling from his eyes. "R-Ryu...?" he asked, hesitantly. "Did... did Kon say something wrong?!" he asked, instantly worried that he had somehow upset the other. "N-nah... what's wrong?" His eyes were filled with confusion and concern - he wanted to help Ryu, to make things okay again... but what could he possibly do if he did not know the cause of the other's condition?

Mie-tanuki Kon didn't notice anything until the silence stretched on for too long. He looked up at Ryu to find tears trickling from his eyes. "R-Ryu...?" he asked, hesitantly. "Did... did Kon say something wrong?!" he asked, instantly worried that he had somehow upset the other. "N-nah... what's wrong?" His eyes were filled with confusion and concern - he wanted to help Ryu, to make things okay again... but what could he possibly do if he did not know the cause of the other's condition? Ryu became startled as he realized Kon had noticed his tears. He looked up and smiled softly, trying to cover up his saddness. "It's-its-its-its..." He tried to speak but couldn't- he was took choked up. He managed "Kon didn't say anything wrong..." but then the tears took over unwillingly as he sobbed. He had been trying to hold it in, but that just made him explode with tears now...he had never been more embarrased.

What... what was he supposed to do? Kon was utterly confused - what was a person supposed to do in this situation? He... he didn't know... In the end, he had failed at trying to be human... He carefully set his food down on the bench and then reached over to wrap his arms around the other's head and pulled him over gently to lean on the small boy. "Nah... don't cry... okay?" This was... it was something like what his mother had done when he had cried. And he thought he might have seen people do it before... maybe...

This was... it was something like what his mother had done when he had cried. And he thought he might have seen people do it before... maybe... Ryu was a bit surprised...well, more than a bit. He cuddled close to Kon, trying his best to stop the tears. He couldn't stop them, but he did succeed in slowing them down. "I'm sorry...I shouldn't be acting like this...I wanted this afternoon to make you happy, but look at me...I'm bawling like a baby..." He wanted to be comforted, but didn't really know how...He wanted to tell Kon everything, but didn't know how to do that either...

"But... Kon is happy. Kon is happy... well, all the time," he murmured, still looking confused. It was true... he was very easily pleased. "And... is it bad to cry? Kon... Kon cries a lot, too... so... is that bad...?" He didn't understand why people seemed so appauled by their own tears. It was something natural, something that released your emotion and made you feel better afterwards. How could that be bad? He just didn't understand humans...

Kon cries a lot, too... so... is that bad...?" He didn't understand why people seemed so appauled by their own tears. It was something natural, something that released your emotion and made you feel better afterwards. How could that be bad? He just didn't understand humans... "No...It's not bad...It's just embarrasing..." He wrapped his arms around Kon, his cheek against his chest. Out of the blue he murmered "Are you from around here?...you are...different...a god diffrerent- a different I like very much...but...it doesn't seem like you are very oriented with your surroundings..."

"Kon is from the country," he said with a small shrug. It was true. He had been born in the country, but hadn't lived there for very long. What he couldn't say was that he had spent the majority of his time living in the forest outside the city with his family. It was only rescent for him to live like a human in an apartment. He didn't want to be caught on unawares while sleeping - like his family had. "But is that so different?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to one side.

What he couldn't say was that he had spent the majority of his time living in the forest outside the city with his family. It was only rescent for him to live like a human in an apartment. He didn't want to be caught on unawares while sleeping - like his family had. "But is that so different?" he asked, tilting his head slightly to one side. "No..you're not different because of where you live...You're different because of your personality. You are so happy and innicent and carefree- something very rare these days. You are truely kind- a trait even rarer. You are completely selfless...you are genuinely sweet and...well- you are amazing and you don't even know it." By now the tears had stopped and Ryu softly smiled. "I just hope that your angel-like qualitys aren't wasted on someone who doesn't deserve you...Kon only deserves the best..." And that's why I'll never be with him...

"But like I said...you're...special...you aren't like anyone else I've ever met...That's why I get sad- because I get too attatched to people...then I start thinking about losing them...and then I get sad..." Ryu had tried to explain why he had been crying without saying all of it...and saying it straight out...

So you should enjoy what time you have... right?" he murmured, a small smile on his lips. He wasn't sure if he was making any sense or not, but he hoped the other would understand. Ryu smiled. "You're right." He sat up and as he did so the happy sparkle seemed to return to his eyes. He picked up his nearly empty tray of fried rice. "I'm sorry...about all of that...' He looked down at his food and realized he was no longer hungry. "Is Kon still having a good time?" He looked up at the other boy. "And would Kon like the rest of my rice?"

Kon shook his head. "Don't apologize for crying... crying is good," he murmured. "Mmm... Kon isn't really hungry right now," he said with a small shrug. He had only eaten about half of his dumpling, but, then again, he didn't eat very much. "You want to head back to the salon? Kon can teach you now if you want, or we could do something before that." He... he wanted Ryu to be happy before he started teaching him. After all, it was always best to work in a mind set that made it easiest to do a good job.

He... he wanted Ryu to be happy before he started teaching him. After all, it was always best to work in a mind set that made it easiest to do a good job. Ryu paused, thinking. "Well...I can't really think of anything to do...So why don't we head back to the salon for now. If we can find out something else to do along the way, then we can do that...Unless you can think of something that we can do..." He smiled softly.

Kon shook his head. "No... Kon was just wondering if you had something you wanted to do." He shrugged slightly and stood up. Then, remembering the food, he gestured down at what remained of it. "Neh, neh, what should we do with these?" he asked.
