Flink stepped into the apartment, looking around and letting out a whistle, albeit his expression seemed entirely sarcastic. He kicked at some of the food debris on the floor while making his way in.

"I see that these two were quite healthy eaters," he commented as he scanned his room when his eyes spotted something that piqued his interest.

"Dude said something about a tablet, right?" he asked, walking over to the item and picking it up, running his fingers over the etched symbols, "I think we found it."

Powell grumbled as his foot met with a fast food carton, and slightly kicked it aside.

"Damn untidy people, eh?"

He then saw the tablet that had been on the table, that Flink picked up. Walking over to him, he glanced over his shoulder at the symbols and frowned.

"Well, damn it. Anyone know this language?"

Powell stared at the symbols, trying to figure out what it was.

"Looks incredibly arcane. Nothing on it makes any sense. Maybe there are some notes in this mess of papers that could help with the translation of the runes." Shawn then began to sift through the books and papers, looking for something that could be used for such a purpose.

Leo looked passively at the library of novels, his brow quirked in a clear distaste. "Who needs this much fiction?" He asked no one, almost completely ignoring the tablet. He begins thumbing through the books and papers as well.

Both (Zen) and (Aine)'s knowledge rolls fail. So sad, it's an easy answer too. The tablet remains undecoded.

(Izzy) Finds a file containing the Invoice records of the orders for "America's Worst Verse" by lurking around. The orders are from every sort of bookstore across the US. Perhaps more searching must be done?

(Roger) Finds nothing.

"Well that was useless. Time to search the other side of the room!" Shawn exclaimed, placing what he had searched through in its own pile to signify that it had been searched.

As he continues to run his fingers around the carvings, taking in the way the tablet is polished and carved, he turns it over and seems rather entranced by the tablet.

"Granite," he murmurs thoughtfully, "strange symbols... this is practically a work of art." He glances up at the group, curiously offering a proposal. "Hey, I go to school at Cornish just on the edge of the U-district. Maybe one of the professors would have an idea if we can't figure something out here - after all, it IS an art school."

(( Yes, I live in Washington. >.>;; Lived in Edmonds, spent some time in Seattle every now and then - but I'm down by Olympia now. Cornish and the UW were both schools I was looking into attending before I found Evergreen State. ))

IZZY RANDOMLY FINDS A BOOK. Titled "America's Worst Verse." and on the cover, under Author's Name are the victims. Joanna Fellowes and Harriet Clute. Could this be a coincidence? Or has someone published in the book caused them to 'disappear' permanently?

((I LIVE IN WASHINGTON TOO ^_^))

Powell stared at Flink, giving a cynical look.

"Are you sure? That thing looks ancient."'

After a few seconds pause, something also occurred to him.

"Say... we could also find an archaeologist, if that art school idea doesn't work."

It sounded like a good idea, at least to him. "So... anyone know someone like that?"

Shawn holds up the book that he found, and reads the cover. "Hey guys, take a look at this. Probably our first clue. Who wants to start reading through this? I feel lucky so I'll continue searching."

Leo, getting board with the lack of anything interesting in the stack of papers, takes his look at the runic table, following the indentations in the granite with his fingers. "This really isn't something that you usually find in a dorm room. Maybe a...project or something? Anyone know who these people were?"

Flink smiled sheepishly, pursing his brows. "I actually just ditched my Art History class to make it here today," he said with a shrug, "Personally, I think the professor is nuts - but he sure does know his stuff when it comes to old... things."

He gave the tablet another quizzical glance before looking up at Shawn's outburst. He wandered over towards the indicated book, looking around at the rest of the group, hoping someone else would take up the offer first - he was curious, sure, but reading a book was boring work.

(Roger) gets his mind blown open, as if the very conscious of the tablet was speaking to his soul. It was as if he now had the ability to decode the tablet, and fluently speak whatever language it was, and notice any other oddities about the culture surrounding it. Now. Can he comprehend it?
