Here it is, everyone! Our first sticky for the Red Dwarf entire series (or as much as we can) marathon!

Just watch the episode any time over the weekend, and post anything you like regarding that episode here for discussion! Come post throughout the week.

Next week, we'll post the next sticky for episode two, and so on.

(Thanks, OliviaOblivia, for the good suggestion about making these as a sticky!)

The thing that struck me most about this episode is how much Rimmer changed over the course of the series. I'd almost forgotten what he was like in the very beginning. The ultimate prat!
biggrin

One of the best bits in this episode- when he smeared the answers to the test on his hand, put his hand print on the test paper and signed it. I never get tired of that one!

That is such a good episode. One thing I never really noticed though, was that when Holly was wasn't fullscreen, he was on a black background, and when he went fullscreen, his head was pasted on the blue screen of death.

Anyone else notice how skinny Peterson was? And someone else watching with, MissMoppy, noticed that during the welcome back party, Peterson could still be seen hitting his head to dislodge the quarter. You have to look quick to see it.

And of course, this episode once again brings up that timeless question: Why Rimmer? The lives of the crew aren't on Rimmer's conscience- SOMEONE thought it was a good idea to give him the job.

Last thought on Rimmer. Anyone else notice how Rimmer charged at the Cat when he first appeared? That was awfully brave for Rimmer!
You could say that he did it because he knew the Cat couldn't hurt a hologram- but not knowing what Cat was, how could he be sure?

Why Rimmer indeed?
Rimmer really was a prat in teh first series...
but so cool
uwaaah! i luv teh Cat! I can't wait to watch me2 (meant to be me squared)

When Rimmer charged at the Cat, it reminded me of something from a later episode. We know that Rimmer has a light bee buzzing around inside him to protect his image, so what happened to the light bee when he ran through the Cat? You'd think that it would crash against the Cat and fall, shutting off the image, or at least distorting it.

I don't think they had the light bee in the first series. No I am certain that they did not have it.
Because in that episode were they are on a moon celbrating Rimmer death day then he is in a holocage.

The first episode of the series.^^
I love it so much. "Everybodys dead Dave..."

I love "Everybodys dead Dave" As well as what Holy said after Lister realizes everyone is dead. "Oh god. I never should have let him out."

i think i might watch it again and count how many times Holly says "Everybody's dead, Dave"

Yeah, let us know how many times he says it. smile

Oh, and ever since I saw that episode, I use Cat's line. "I'm lookin nice."

It really defines Cat's character when Lister put the food dish on the floor, and Cat said, "Hey, you monkeys eat off te floor? Ain't you got no style of sophistication?", then laps up the food with his tongue.
You know exactly from that little exchange how the Cat is.

Also, this episode is the first introduction of Lister as God. What a thought! biggrin

As far as Holly letting Dave out, and then saying he never should have done it:
I think the only reason Holly let Lister out is because he got bored, and realized he was getting peculiar. That would also explain bringing back Rimmer, of all people, to "keep Lister sane." It's more likely that Holly was the one who was being kept sane by having Lister and Rimmer around.

I'm curious about that count! biggrin

Hey, this is the episode where we find out Lister is God, at least for the Cat people. But isn't Holly really the God character of RD? He rules the world, resurrected Lister and Rimmer from the dead! rofl
