An actual argument I saw. :/

I'll try to find it again. Hold on.

"because women are such lusty sexual beasts and they had it coming!"
She shouldn't have worn that skirt!
Or worn that shirt that showed cleavage!
It's her fault if she couldn't fight off the rapist!

Complete bullshit. mad

People who think like such should be raped themselves, every single day of their lives, and see how they feel.
Blaming the victim for the rape is purely subjugation of women.

Don't forget the ever popular, "It was her fault for being in a bad part of town where that sort of thing happens!"

Also, this topic in general. It reminds me of something:
The Bible
Deuteronomy 22:23-24:If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death—the girl because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man's wife. You must purge the evil from among you.

We never heard her yell, fellas, nevermind the vast, vast array of possible circumstances that would prevent a rape victim from being able to successfully communicate her distress to somebody. Guilty whore!

The more things change, the more they stay the same, eh?

Don'tcha know? There's no such thing as a submissive personality, or being scared stiff, or being held down by someone FAR bigger than you. There's no such thing as weapons used against women, and all women become black belts when they're in danger. Oh, and women are ALWAYS raped because they were dressed like a slut in a bad part of town after dark. No woman is ever raped by a friend in broad daylight. Ever.

You would actually wish rape on someone? I wouldn't. Ever. It's torture in my book.

There was an article I saw a few days ago about how this lady thought that if females in the military get raped, it's their fault. Cause you know... (even generally) women wearing a short skirt means she wants to get raped, right! And men are just being tempted so it isn't their fault. =

The things I see in the news these days concerning rape disgust me. That article and also one where a man didn't get any jail time for raping a ten year old because he thought she was sixteen. Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but rape is rape and age has nothing to do with it.

You know, the whole issue in the middle east with the forced wearing of the burqa for women in afghanistan by the taliban, the wearing of the hijab thought of as done by the 'good' muslims and the Koran stating that women should dress modest all the time is really just the same thing though to a more severe level of what we have here in the west where women are thought of as immoral.

I know many people, espeically quite a few lifers/catholic conservatives are appaled about what is going on in the middle east with women.

What they don't realise is that even though we may be in different countries, on different sides of the earth, we are the same people, and those people here who blame the woman for her rape for 'walking in a bad section of town' are no different then those extremists in the ME who stone women for just walking outside without a male escort.

Women; sluts no matter what the country or culture. neutral

I once heard someone say that it's the woman's fault for making the man horny and then not giving him what he wanted. He actually blamed women for "oppressing male sexuality."

I dunno about in Afghanistan, but the women in Iraq didn't have to wear the hijab until the invasion by the US and after the new government was put in. Now they wear the hijab and need men escorts not only because it's the new (stupid) law, but also for protection from creepy people.

Honestly, I really am getting tired of hearing all this stuff about rape and it being the person's fault. I have like, nothing to say except that I get mad whenever I read anything like this which seems to be happening often.

Sadly. sad

If I weren't bound by rules of a particular forum to keep confidential what's said inside... I'd totally share a particularly frustrating rape discussion I've had with someone.

Rape is a sad thing. It's even worse that after being victimized people victimize them further by blaming them. What was it... about three months ago there was a huge survey in the UK that showed something like only 1/3rd of the population believed a woman is never at fault when raped, but at least 2/3rds believed she was partially at fault if raped? Terrible.

Because man can't control themselves!

Look, I don't care if the girl was passed out naked in somene else's bed at a party, you're still responsible for your actions, boner or not. Saying it's her fault you raped her is like saying it's your fault if I beat your a** and therefore I shouldn't be prosecuted. What? It's not like you didn't entice me or anything rolleyes

I've seen that arguement many times, and it still makes me cringe every time.

Two things come to my mind reading these comments.

1. A girl got raped in a public bath a couple of years ago. Abooout 30 witnesses. All looking the other way.

2. A school were sexual harassment was getting quite out of control. The principal said it was the girls own faults for "dressing to sexy" and "provoking the boys". What got to me most was the forum were the article was discussed. The vast, vast majority were actually agreeing with this ******** gods forbid boys/men could ever be able to control themselves.. I mean, they're just walking dicks, right? Ever erect and ready for action..

I hate that crap.

Saddest thing is I'm getting used to it.

This stupid "blame the victim" mentality seems to be almost a trend as of late. Yeah, it was prevalent for a while, but then people started realizing that it was stupid.

Now it seems to be making a come-back.

I honestly don't understand it. If it's rape, then doesn't that sorta imply that the victim doesn't want it?

If I drive my car into my neighbor's living room, should they have anticipated this, and not been home?

What an idiotic way of thinking. neutral
