I wanted to wait before releasing my Feedback on how gaia's been doing till my gaia anniversary, but I wanted the guild to know how I was feeling as well and tell me whether or not I will get more pain for posting this in the Site Feedback forum.

Note: The mods and devs are wonderful on gaia. They have helped me out in a lot of areas, and I do like them. This feedback is not directed at them, but rather the lack of attention to events, MC's, and users opinions.

As my account will be three years old in the coming weeks, I’d like to say that I have enjoyed Gaia for the whole three years that I’ve remained. But that just wouldn’t be me being honest.

As Gaia proceeded to get more members I noticed a loss of detail in events, leading straight up to the most disappointing one of them all this years Easter event. Now I’ve been around long enough to know what a copout looks like, and this is definitely one of them. For St. Patrick’s Day it was okay, because that was a minor holiday and the sites first attempt at it. However, it is inexcusable to just use the same thing over and think that users aren’t going to be angry about it. In fact the items only change really in SIZE. It is so disappointing to see that this is what Gaia is becoming. This event lacks any forum or storyline update for a major event and is treated like a minor event. Those of us who have been around long enough, or even browsed previous events know that Gaia can do better. Now I know that people are going to say that we should be grateful we even have one, but you know what? If I’m going to get crappy items, and a half-assed event I’d rather not have it at all. “Well the artists were stretched.” No excuse their either, if the artists are stretched thin hire more, if you can’t pay them, then just have the usual FOUR events a year. I was perfectly fine with only having Halloween, Easter, The Anniversary Ball, and Christmas. Easter should have been planned ahead instead of left to the last minute.

I’ve also noticed that the MC’s are also failing to please many of us users this year. If Gaia can’t produce items that meet the demands of many, then of course you’re going to be strapped for money. The elemental hair was a great release, and the mystic was not. It would have been better if the release between these two was a greater time period instead of a small time period. And the eagle? I’m sure it must appeal to some part of the community, but what about to those it doesn’t appeal to? The MC’s sure have been a great amount of cop outs this year as well. Please give us things we’ve been asking for, for a long, long time like the lunar scythe or even the winged backpack. There are plenty of threads that have been asking for good items for awhile now. You want more people to donate, choose better items that appeal to most of the gaian community instead of just a small amount of the community.

Store item shops updates. I actually enjoyed most of the updates that have come along this year especially the elegant set, and the Egyptian set. Both of these sets work wonders for the economy finally bringing inflation for some of the users to a reasonable price. Each of the items updated matched, and appealed to someone. However, even here I have a complaint to make. We waited forever for a salon update, and a housing update. Even though I don’t use housing, I can understand how painful it is to wait almost half a year for a new update. And the salon? Not much better. There are plenty of threads with ideas for new hairstyles just waiting for you to take the time and look at them, so that the updates are more frequent. Instead of updating the G-store constantly, update the pixel stores more constantly as well. Right now I feel that gaia is trying to just grab me for cash now, and doesn’t care about the pixels in entirety anymore.

I’ve also heard of the re-release of MC’s for purchase or into the quest system, which also degrades what I’ve believed about gaia for a long time. Keep your promise, no mass re-releases on items. Everything is handed to the new users these days, when I had to work for just about everything that I have and relie on the generosity of friends to get me where I am today. Today these users get handed a huge set for housing, and clothing, this is just not right and completely unfair. These are the users that will complain if they don’t get a re-release of old donation items, and will complain about the unfairness. You weren’t here when they came out? Deal with it. Most of us do without a re-release of these items. I am however all for the quest system having these items with stipulations, and these stipulations need to be harsh and set into place.

And now I have beef with the most recent issue as well, username changes. Dear me, who the hell needs another email? I already have plenty of them, and then you'll have to change the TOS to fit them. With the growing number of members on this site eliminating special characters makes it harder for a person’s username to be unique! Some just don't sound right without spaces or underscores or anything of the sort. It will loose you members even quicker then the horrid events will. Forcing users to change their name is a terrible thing to do to us, and I for one do not want to have to change my name just because of the underscore. Why should I have to change what I am known by? Our usernames are what make us unique, and separate the community from other sites like dare I even say it, neopets. The email idea is almost as bad as the easter event was.

Lastly, the users have not had much communication as of late about these changes. It’s not encouraging to know that the rest of the site that doesn’t read isn’t aware of changes going on. The easter announcement didn’t even announce the huge glitch of invisible eggs in towns. I, despite having known to read by now, feel compassion for the users who were expecting them and sat around trying to find something that apparently didn’t exist. Then username limits suddenly change without warning. Would it hurt gaia to really start using the announcement forum for these things? I mean that’s what it’s been created for right? To grab the users attention.

All in all gaia, I am quickly loosing faith in your ability to set things the way they need to be. 07’ is already a disappointing year, and I am fast on the track to not caring about anything on this site anymore. If you’re going to release crappy events, give us crappy items, milk us for every penny we have, release bad MC’s, break promises to old users like myself, hand everything to the newer users, and make us change the one thing that separates us from other users I have an obligation as an older user to say something. Anything to maybe get this site to change course somehow. Gaia: Get your act together.

I must say that everything you've stated is a problem, except the GStore updates, users have been asking for more in there since it was opened, probably more than have been asking for release of specific items.
But yea, other than that, all olbies will agree and newbies will attempt to flame. But it IS disappointing this year.

EDIT: Hey look, I'm wearing ALL the event items we've gotten this year (That can be worn at the same time)...
