Name: Risa Are you a Buddhist?: basically Age: 14 Why you became a Buddhist: Karma, for one, obviously exsists, but mosstly because Buddhism is the path to awareness of now and I feel that the world has too little of that. As I like to say "if ignorance is bliss than why aren't more people happy?' Certainly some ignorences give you bliss, but being aware of the right things will lead you to true happiness. and also because i strongly oppose all cruelty adn closed'mindedness. I have only just skimmed through His Holyness The Dalai Lama's book "how to practice" I don't follow the Buddha's teachings to each precise point, but I base a good deal of my life upon simaler ideas, hence the answer "basically"

sorry that i didn't follow the format but i feel more comfortable writing when im not bound to a certain format. lol
My name is Tsering and im a tibetan, and im 20 yrs old. Im currently attending a state college, my major hasn't been decided yet. And i was born into a buddhist familly so i was taught about buddhism from very little. Unlike many of you, i haven't experienced any other religion besides buddhism but i have learned a quite deal on most religions. I think i said this but ill say it again, It never shows weakness in ones own believes and values, if you decide to learn more about others point of view and beliefs, it only shows that you are always willing to learn more, and you can only gain form learning, you can never lose anything.
With that said, i hope i meet lots of friends here, there is only so much places on gaia where we can actually have intelligent conversations.

I may not agree with the beliefs of other religions, but it can never hurt to learn a little more about something you may not entirely understand.
Who knows? You may even change your mind... or maybe you won't, but at least you'll have a better understanding and a little more knowledge.
A little more knowledge never hurt anyone... as far as I know, learning has always helped... *lol* -[Haruko]

Hey, I'm Kizzy I'm not really a Buddhist, but a lot of my beliefs come from Buddhism. I came here partly to help find a way to better myself by talking with people who have bettered themselves I'm 15. I started to follow some Buddhist beliefs because they made sense to me. It was like cha-ching in my head, you know?
