They had been traveling for a few weeks now, and for the past few days the grass had done nothing to keep his light pelt cool. At the moment, they rested under a tree, the sun high and wild as the heat came down in waves. Kikore, while not as young as he used to be, deffinatly felt the ware building up, and had he seen himself he would have been able to tell that all of his cub fat was deffinatly gone.

Shaking his making of a mane, he padded out into the light and let out a groan, light as to not wake his mother. He would only be going towards the near-by watering hole, for he needed water before he could rest and possibly a bath. Glancing back to his mother, he made a silent promise before bounding out and praying nothing would come in his way. It had to be quick and easy, else his mother would wake and find him gone.

As he moved into deeper grass, his ears perked for noises, and he looked towards the clearing which was the water. Glancing around it from his hiding spot, he saw none, and let out a sigh of releave before rushing to lap up the cooler waters. Today would be a good one, he felt it in his bones.

Kilango was nearby in the brush, hiding from the small family of green. She had been following them for a few weeks now, and found herself growing tired and weary of the travel. Growing more mature herself, she was slightly larger built. Of course, that is what happened as you aged. Pondering for the moment, she found herself questioning whether or not to make today the day to reveal herself to Kikore and Palesa. She was dying of hunger, as she found herself weaker than ever without the assistance of anyone.

She didn't realize that Kikore was taking a drink in the waterhole. She was headed there now, a nice cool drink would quench her dying thirst.

She padded through the grasses, and to the opening that the male had made his way through only a few minute before. Shocked, she squeaked and fled back behind the greens the second she spotted Kikore'ruia. Chuckling, she darted around the other way, knowing the male, he would probably get scared and go see what the noise was all about. Then she'd be able to snag a little drink from the pond of water.

His paws had just hit the water when he heard the noise, and all at once his body stiffened and he turned. Peering out to the silence, he noticed the sound of paws pattering and the grass ruffling, though otherwise he had no clue what was out there. Waiting for a long moment, ears still perked, he turned back with a soft sigh.

Longingly, he silently said goodbye to the idea of the bath, and lapped quickly at the waters before backing away. It would be another day that he would bath, and hopefully with his mother aswell. Now, he just chose to turn and move back towards the grasses and away from the noise. If it were anothe lion, he would be better leaving than confronting the beast.

Fleetingly, the questioning of just who it was and what scent drifting towards him brushed his mind, though he pushed it aside and meekly went towards the grasses. Without his mother knowing where he was, he knew better than to pick a fight.

The young female chuckled with a grin upon her maw, as she slowly began to tippy-toe her way towards the water, from the other side of the pool. As long as Kikore didn't turn around, she'd be unseen for now. She didn't want to suprise the little cutie until later on, when she was deep onto their trail.

Glaring ahead, she tried to keep as still as possible, because Kikore was bound to turn around. Loosing her balance from the sudden silence, she yelped and found herself in the waterhole. "s**t, my covers blown ... ... " She hissed under her breath, as she turned away in an attempt to not be noticed as much by the male. Maybe enough crap got on her blue coat, so she looked like s**t brown instead of blue? That is what she hoped. In a girly voice, she spoke. "I'm alright! ... ... just fine!" Another giggle left her mouth.

Her ears went down slowly, as she awaited the shreiking fate that was about to escape the sissyboy's mouth. She began counting down in her head.

No shreiks came from his maw, though had she seen him when she fell, she would have seen a green form jump a few good feet into the air. Landing in a sprawled mess, he scampered and stumbled to get back onto his toes before turning suddenly with wide amber eyes.

"Who's there!" He called out in a quivering voice, before his gaze landed on a brown and blue form. Not connecting Kilango just yet, because of course he assumed that she was far behind them, he lowered his ears and his head, "Are you okay miss?"

Softly, he stepped closer, curiosity to the new being and slight hormones bringing his bravery out once more, "You aren't hurt, are you?" Lifting his head, he tried to get a better view dispite the distance between the two. Had he know it was Kilango, he would have never gotten closer to the little monster.

Instead he would have ran and dragged his mother to where she could never find them.

Kilango almost died, as the green juvenile made his way towards her. Her heart skipped a beat, as she grinned. "I'm fine, really!" She chuckled once more, as she started to get out of the watery mess. Of course, coming out, her blue, purple, and white furred body was exposed. "I ... ... uh ... .. I'm fine." She glared her red eyes at Kikore, keeping as serious as she possibly could.

"You don't need to worry about me. I ... just needed a drink." She darted to the other side of the watering hole, away from the green boy. Lapping a small drink, she began padding off slowly. Looking back, she paused keeping an eye on what he was to do next. He had to have known it was Kilango! Most of the crap fell off as she moved around, and her blue and purple was exposed more than ever now. "Sorry for worrying you, i'm fine ... really." She sighed and then fled into the nearest patch of tall grass. Then she sat there, and waited.

She wanted to beat herself up! She had the chance to scare him off, but there ... was something about him that she liked. A lot. She couldn't understand why she didn't bad mouth him or anything. ... Maybe she was taking a turn for the good. She simply stared into space, questioning why she was acting so strange all of a sudden.

His maw fell sharply open as he moved out of the water and his eyes caught her own. Just starring unbelieving, he responded not to any of the words she said, nor did he follow her just yet when she fled from the scene.

Slowly, his mind pieced the things together, and he pondered over what he just saw while closing his maw. It didn't sound like Kilango, but the eyes and the pelt, and the way she glared told him it was her. It was than he found his voice, and he moved his eyes from where they stared at the waters.

"K-kilango?" He asked tentativly, ears falling as a frown marred his features, "...please tell me that isn't your name..." His voice was deeper now, though still held the same sort of fear that it was lacking moments ago. Before, he sounded like a proud young male, now he just sounded like a quivering boy who got beaten for disobaying his parents.

The female's trance was broken as her name was spoken out loud. She peered through the grass back at Kikore, grinning at him. "... ... yes, Kikore'ruia?" Her grin found itself growing into a warm smile. She found herself just ... ... staring at him, but she couldn't recall why. He started looking cute all of a sudden, and she was slowly beginning to be attracted to it.

She just shrugged and then looked away. "Yes, its me you big goof. Who else would it be? ... ... i'm just ... tired. My body aches, i'm ... starving. I don't know what to do anymore. I'm lost, Kikore. I'm ... truely lost in this ... hell of a world." She looked down, and then found herself padding off, away from Kikore. If anything, she had no reason to confront the male any longer. She wanted to speak with Palesa, and she knew just where to find her.

He just blinked at her as she spoke, and than moved away, his mind wandering and thinking over her words once again. It nerved him when she openly stared, and he felt as if he was being stripped down and judged almost, though clearly that was not the case. But when seh spoke, her voice sounded so...weak...nothing like what he remembered when they last met.

Making up his mind, he rushed after her, knowing full well when he was tired, she must have been one hundred times more.

"Kilango!" He found himself yelling in an effort to catch up, "Wait!" Huffing as he reached her, he slowed his paws and hoped she would stop with him, before he looked to her and spoke.

"Please...if you are tired, you should do more than just take a few sips...get some water..." Somehow, he suddenly felt guilty, and he hoped that she wouldn't make him regret his offer, as silent as it may have been. He offered acceptance, for now.

Her ears twitched as he told her to wait. Pausing, she looked back, her red eyes glaring like always. She just sighed, and looked away. "You don't need to worry about me, Kikore. ... I know ... when to give up. I've been chasing after you and your mother for literally weeks now, hoping you wouldn't realize I was on your tail. I ... haven't eaten in over a week now. Its ... hard to survive without my mother or father. I truely regret leaving them now. I was foolish to do it. I was always mean to them, but ... deep down inside ... I loved them. Before I left the Pridelands, I saw something I didn't want to see and it made me realize some things. A lot of things."

A few tears shed from her blood red eyes. She felt so strange for the first time in her young life. It was the 2nd time she'd ever cried, the first time only being a month or so ago. Something was going wrong with her.

She coughed slightly, and then returned looking to Kikore'ruia. "I don't need water. ... I need to speak with your mother. As soon as possible. I need to clear some things up that have been clouding my mind for days now." As the mention of water flowed through her mind, she licked her dry maw. Maybe a little sip would be fine?

She found herself rushing back over to the pool for another drink. This time, she took extra large gulps. She didn't know when another opportunity to drink this much water would come along again.

He was about to demand that she go back when she rushed past him, and once more he was left to ponder things over. As he walked back, he felt the questions come to his maw, but never leave, for he was unsure as to how she would react. He didn't want too much violence, but as he watched her greedily drink, he found a soft sigh lifting his chest.

"My mother is asleep...I don't really wish to awaken her, if you don't, since she hasn't gotten much sleep. She is always insisting she stay away and protect me, when I am good enough to keep watch...I never see her relaxed enough these days...I guess..." Murmering it softly as he reached her side, he just looked at his currently dusty green pelt and shook his head before turning away from the reflection.

"Please...heed my request and wait a few hours...than you can speak with her..." He begged with pitiful eyes, hoping she would.

Kilango smiled as Kikore came up beside her. "I will obey your request. ... I don't have the strength to fight back anyways, I wouldn't want to awake the lioness who will be caring for me ... ... for a while." She simply laid herself down. The exhaustion of the moment caught up with her, as she collapsed her body to the ground. She was in a daze, staring up at Kikore innocently from the ground below. She felt a sense of comfort for once, being with him. It was ... ... a good feeling. She nudged herself over a bit, as her fuzz ruffled up against the male's.

She fell silent, as she kept close to Kikore. She whispered to him, and smiled. "Thanks for ... everything."

He fell slack-jawed once again as she moved to the ground and tried to looked around for anything to help. It wasn't until he finally drew his eyes back to her that he caught her gaze, and found himself unable to move. The ruby orbs held him captivated, for once he could suddenly find himself going deeper than the harsh shell they once held. Sure it wasn't as if he could read her mind, but he felt like she was letting down some sort of wall, something to show him a different side.

Or maybe it was all in his head.

'She's kinda cute...' he murmered in his mind, before shaking his head and closing his eyes tightly.

It wasn't until she scooted over that he let out a yelp, though he couldn't move his legs and pull away, some unknown force kept them there. Slowly opening one eye, he looked down at her from where she spoke, and swallowed his parched throat.

"I-I haven't done a-anything..." He stuttered out, the only one ever touching him this close was his mother, and possibly his father though he was forgetting such events. However, this was much, much different.

Kilango clung onto his hind leg, smiling. She didn't want him to go ... although the moment felt somewhat strange, there was a little tug inside her that didn't want it to end so soon. "Yes you have ... Kikore, i'm sorry for scaring you before. I ... really didn't mean it. I ... really didn't. I just ... I don't know." She closed her eyes for a moment. "I'm just, glad your here. I truely am, Kikore. I've been lonely ... and ... ... well, i'm afraid of the dark." She shrunk as her eyes opened once more.

"Its been really hard to follow you both. Mostly because i've never been alone before. ... ... I got a nice rude awakening from reality." She smiled again, looking back up the the green male. "I'm just glad to see you again. I ... missed you. I know know why, but ... I did."

He faltered a bit when she grabbed his hindleg, and took a long time as he scratched for some sort of balance. In the end, he fell so his paws were at her head and his head was by her paws and tail. Letting out a soft huff, he moved to curl around so he was looking towards her, and just blinked at her words.

"..." He opened his maw, about to say something, before closing it, able to tell she was confused and a bit afraid of what she got herself into. Curling close to her with a weak smile and unsure gaze, he spoke softly for her ears only.

"I'm afraid of the dark too...when I am all alone and no one else is with me..." looking to the side, he took a deep breath as the same determination came to his gaze he held when around his mother, "I...I wont let you be alone in the dark anymore, Kilango. I promise!"

Nodding and looking ahead, he turned his gaze back to her as the determination faltered and he smiled weakly.
