One pawstep in front of another, dark tipped ears perked at the slightest sound around him. Nonchalantly, the male wild dog sauntered across the heated ground, not a care in the world. His cousin was somewhere, he wasn't worried about her. Hell, she was a damn female, she had more problems than the law allowed, why should he care about what's going on with her and where she was? No, this was his time alone, and he was gonna make the most of it.
But was there anyone around to share the silence with? He'd happened upon a little, brightly colored jackal, but she'd wandered off shortly after that. He hated to admit it, but it was kinda boring out here, no action to be had, not a soul to annoy. What was a dog to do without a bone to chew, a flea to scratch, or an ear to yack into?

A new land lay ahead and Damalis was quick to jump into the excitement of the journey. Her ruby colored eyes scanned the bare land in front of her, ears perked forward attentively. Padding forward, she kept her footsteps as silent as possible, for she knew the dangers of the strangers that may rest behind the next corner.
Her wanting to get up and explore the land around her had caused Damalis to leave her original family and had made friendships and any other kind of thoughts of settling down short lived. A sense of loneliness tugged at the back of her mind and she knew that it would never leave until she found a place worth staying. But this didn't seem to bother her much at the time, right now she longed just to talk to someone. Just where to find someone.

His own reddish eyes swept across the land, similar in fashion to the other in the same vacinity. Out of the blue, a his voice, slightly rough around the edges, sounds out across the air.
"Fortune and glory, my friends, fortune and glory." It was anyone's guess as to what on EARTH that meant, or even referred to, having been rather random in it's coming. Still, it could've been considered a ground breaking moment, as, anyone around would've been able to hear it, and therefore catch an idea of what direction he was in. Oh yes, this was a strange dog indeed.

Ears perked up instantly as she listened to the new voice that filled the air, the fact that it had come from not too far away surprised her enough that her head shot up and she froze in place. After a few moments of thinking to herself, her body loosened and she shook her head with a soft chuckle. "So there are others here..." She mumbled to herself.
Curiosity pushed Damalis forward in the direction which the voice had come from, not at all expecting to see another wild dog as she reached the top of a small hill. She watched him closely, without a sound, waiting to see what he was up to.

A skip in his steps, a hum in his throat and a tune in his ear. Indy was rather preoccupied. A little too occupied to notice the beauty watching him from not that far away. All of his senses were sleeping, apparently because he didn't smell her either. Regardless, the young adventurer had turned into her direction and was quite entertained by whatever he was thinking at the moment, too much so to notice he was close to stumbling upon her without even knowing it.
"Indeed, it's all about fortune and glory. Can't argue with that though, can we?" Apparently talking to one's self happens quite a lot in the heat...

What on earth could he be talking about?
Damalis could not understand... He was talking to himself, she knew that. But why exactly? She shrugged the thoughts off.
She watched as he padded closer and closer, surprised that he had not sensed her presence what-so-ever. She stepped to the side as he passed the spot where she had previously been standing and laughed quietly. As quiet as she could, Damalis trailed behind him.
Finally, she decided to speak up.
"Fortune and glory, eh? Well, usually that kind of thing doesn't come easily."

The humming, the skipping step, all progress forward as he knew it stopped in an instant. Indy's eyes widened, and he whirled around at the sound of another. "Pray tell, dear lady, are you but a mirage in my vision, a trick of the heat that bears down upon us this day?" And without missing a beat, the young dog bent his right front leg underneath of himself, allowing his left frong leg to reach out ahead of him. Bowing in respect of the female before him, as his father had taught him to do so long ago, Indy chuckled aloud.
"They may not come easily, but they come to those who work hard for them, at the very least. Perhaps fortune has smiled down upon the both of us, if but for a moment?" Flashing a charming grin at Damalis, he sat down upon his haunches.

Damalis stopped in her tracks and she watched curiously as he bowed in a manor which she had seen very rarely. With a dip of her head, she nodded in a polite greeting back to the male before her. "Ah, but I am not a mirage." She chuckled. "I'm as real as you are." She grinned back in his direction.
With a content sigh, Damalis also sat back on her haunches, curling her tail loosly around her front paws. "Aye, perhaps it has. I'm Damalis, who would you be?"

"A beautiful name for a lovely lady. I am Kijini'indindi. But you may call me Indy. And it's good to know you're not a mirage. One can't be too sure, these days to trust their own eyes sometimes. What brings you out here, all by your lonesome?" Glancing around for a moment, Indy caught sight of a tree, kinda scrubby in appearance, but one that provided a fair bit of shade, regardless. "Shall we converse where it's a mite cooler, Damalis?"
Now, it could be said that Indy was a bit TOO polite at times, but he did have his crude moments more often than not. For all our sakes, we hope those moments stay well hidden in front of his current conversational companion.

Damalis gave Indy a wide grin, happy to find someone as pleasent as he. Flattered by his comment, her ears layed back slightly and she nodded her head. "Well, it's a pleasure, Indy. I'm one for traveling, so I found myself here." She followed his stare and noticed the tree as well. Craning her head up to the sun, she felt its heat beating down on the earth and had no second thoughs about wanting to find a cooler place to sit. "Why not...?" She brought herself to her paws and motioned to the tree with a flick of her tail. "Shall we?"

"No, the pleasure is all mine." Padding slightly ahead of her in the direction of the tree, he glanced back. "Traveller, eh? I'm a sort of traveller myself. More of an adventurer, really. Still, nothing wrong with a bit of travel. It clears one's thoughts, and gains valuable knowledge of the land and others that live around us."
Pausing at the edge of the shade created by the tree, Indy waved a paw to her. "Ladies first." Somehow, it could almost be considered too good to be true, that he was this sweet and polite, for this long even. NO ONE is that angelic, not even him.

Damalis followed a pace behind him and gave another content sigh as they reached the bit of shade. She nodded at his friendly gesture. "Why thank you." She laughed lightly and ploped down on the cool earth, happy to get out of the heat for a while. Her paws were tired and this served as a perfect resting spot.
Though, a question tugged at her thoughts. Why is he so welcoming? Sure it was nice to have someone to talk to that was polite... But it sure seemed a little strange.
"Be glad you have someone to talk to." She thought to herself.
"Exactaly. I've always had a love to see what really out there... Traveling has basically been my whole life." She sighed. "Even though it comes with it's down sides."

"Down sides? May I ask what those might be? I've always seen travel as a way to grow, to become better than what I was, before I traveled." Settling down upon the earth, his body stretched out before the gods and all creation, Indy glanced off in the direction he came from, hoping, beyond all hope, that his cousin Badiri wouldn't just 'happen' in at the wrong time.
She'd probably tell him a thing or two about what she thought of him at that particular time and place, then turn to this young lady and tell her exactly what he was. A scoundrel and a pain in the rump, mostly. "Me, I've always wished to travel more. Granted, I'm not a sentient soul, myself, but, there's always more out there for me to encounter. Something to be seen, someone to talk to and learn from."

Damalis lifted her head, surprised that he was one for traveling, unlike most of the others she's ever met. "Well, to tell you the truth, I've never really met someone that really enjoyed traveling as much as I..." She looked down at her paws for a moment, regaining the thoughts and memories from her past. "That's exactaly the dawn part." She lifted her head and looked out into the distance, her face expressionless. "I've never been able to stay anywhere, with my needs to explore... Everyone I meet seem to pass from my life because they always wanted to staty where they were currently living." She paused. "And that's how I never saw my family again." She laughed dryly. "But I dont regret it... Every new place I come too seems as beautiful as the next, if not more." She looked back to Indy and shrugged. "Forgive me... I tend to bore people with my past." She grinned, spirit a little brighter.

Shrugging slightly, Indy shook his head. "No need to forgive. Your past sounds similar to many, believe it or not. I have never rested in one place for too long myself, though I did manage to gain part of my family as a tag-a-long." To himself, though aloud, he added "not for lack of trying to get rid of her, that is.." Resting his head upon his folded paws, Indy simply let the subject slide. He knew, from past experiences, if he spoke too much of Badiri, she would appear out of thin air to harass and torment him. It was almost like she was psychic or something.
A shudder passed through him at that thought. The thought of her reading his mind, with all the dirty things that passed through it from time to time, was horrendous even to him. He chose to change the subject, and his thinking, before he was permenantly damaged in some form or another. "So, what have you seen in your travels so far? What have you thought of everything you've encountered?"
