Well, I finally got it! I was looking forward to seeing Season 8 again, because seasons 7 & 8 never aired in our area of the U.S., and I lost the copy someone made off of British TV for me a few years back.
I had to have seasons 7 & 8 because they complete the collection, but I didn't remember connecting with the characters as much in the last two seasons.
I watched season 7 when it came out, and saw the first couple episodes of season 8 last night. And the connection still isn't there.
The characters almost seem like stereotypes of themselves. There are a lot of one-liners (usually " as (blank) as a (blank), esp. from cat. And it seems like the actors almost pause waiting for the audience reaction.
I just don't feel there's a good flow in the last seasons, which makes me wonder about the movie (which we may see one day, I hope!)
I assume the difference is the loss of one of the two original writers.
What's your opinion of seasons 7 and 8?
Also, does anyone know if both writers will be involved in the movie?

I've always been less fond of Series 7 & 8 than the others. I think they made a huge mistake by bringing Kochanski back as a main character, especially as they changed the actress. Clare was so much better than Chloe!
Also, the storylines just weren't the same. The best bit about the first few Series was the idea that they were completely alone and they had to make their own entertainment. That was lost when the crew was revived by the nanobots.
Though I admit that there was some very memorable moments; such as the Dibley family xd

I_Focus_On_The_Pain I've always been less fond of Series 7 & 8 than the others. I think they made a huge mistake by bringing Kochanski back as a main character, especially as they changed the actress. Clare was so much better than Chloe!

I haven't seen series 7 or 8 in a pretty long time. I wasn't to fond of them when they first came out. Now that some time has passed I shall have to watch them again and see what I think of them this time around.

I have all DVDs except series 8 even though ive seen most of them on Video anyway.
It was a real bummer when Chris Barrie left even if it was only for a while.
The shows in series seven and eight just aren;t as funny though they are better quality...efects and lighting and all that.
Your right sayin that Kochanski wasn't great....but i spose some things ya gotta live with... rolleyes
