Prompt 4: The mail is always bad this time of year, but it seems like something's gone a little extra wrong. An old letter arrives, shows up with no return address, no name on it; it's impossible to tell who it is from or how it got there, given that it might have arrived in your mailbox, your front door, or maybe it even just showed up inside your house. If you open it, the letter is dated from decades ago and contains some surprising information; it is a letter lost to time and contains some secret. The content of the letter are up to the player; it might contain a confession of love, an admission of guilt, the secret of some crime--no matter what the letter contains, it leaves you with news to reflect on. Do you try to seek out anyone mentioned in the letter? Do you investigate or try to hand the letter over to someone else? Does the content of the letter reflect your life in some way? ...Do you have to worry about someone breaking into your house to leave strangely coded messages?

Normally, the twins didn't mess with the mail when it arrived, save for immediately honing in on any packages that came in, on the off chance that they happened to be their prize winnings from the online crane games they played. Any other mail that was for them, such as birthday cards or otherwise, were delivered to them by their parents, after everything else was sorted through, including all the bills and other assorted junk mail. However, on this day, the two had intercepted the mail before their parents did, hoping to find any gifts addressed to them, the excitement of finding something addressed to them overriding any sort of need to respect their parents' privacy. Surprisingly, their efforts bore fruit, for among the bills, coupon mailers, and other equally as useless stuff, they found it- a single piece of mail addressed to them.

From there, the mystery began. There was no indicator on the envelope as to who had sent it, no return address or even a name, beyond that of the twins. Encased within was an old handdrawn map, which Sato deduced had to be a location somewhere within Destiny City, as well as a letter... written in a very archaic style of writing that made it impossible for two gradeschoolers to truly decipher its contents, despite being in English. Still, and unsurprisingly, it was Sato who brought up the idea of trying to follow the map, convinced there was a hidden treasure to be found. Nemu, on the other hand, was unsure, thinking back to the kinds of things Sato and Alise would talk about, when the older girl was over to babysit the twins. What if it was a trap, and it lead them to some sort of 'cursed relic', as Alise liked to mention from time to time?

"I'm not so sure this is a good idea, Sato..." Nemu protested, fretting in her usual manner.

"Not a good idea? I think it's a great idea," Sato attempted to correct her nervous sister.

Just... what else could it be but a treasure map? It was slightly troubling that neither twin could comprehend the difficult language in the aged letter, but it's not a problem when the map included is obviously a treasure map. What else could it be, anyway?

Although she wasn't fully certain, Sato couldn't help but think that some of the landmarks featured in the map are not too dissimilar to present-day locales. Moreover, it was easy for her to settle on that distinction due to the age of the map, and its age further cemented Sato's conclusion that this is evidently a treasure map. Lastly, it was addressed to the twins without a return address. Therefore, she couldn't help but think that it's undoubtedly a treasure hunt opportunity.

"Anyways, I think we better get moving before time flies by," Sato remarked out loud whilst rolling up the map and stuffing it into her crossbody bag. "And more importantly, let's keep this a secret to ourselves... we mustn't let mother and father know..."

Even if she received a rebuttal, she was fairly determined to at least start the search, and if fortune is on her side, that the twins find the treasure before sundown. After all, two heads are better than one in theory, and Sato is pretty proud of her skill of finding treasure.

Nemu wasn't so easily swayed by her twin's insistence on this leading to anything but disaster, if she was swayed at all. She knew well enough the kinds of stories Alise would tell Sato, after all, about the kinds of 'adventures' that she had gotten into when she was around their age, and Nemu fretted about how this was going to influence her trouble maker of a sister. It didn't take much to convince Sato to go off and cause mischief, after all, and Nemu feared that the two of them now being senshi would encourage this even more.

"But how are we going to keep it a secret?" she cried, still far form onboard from this idea (but following Sato because being separated from her twin was far from the better option), "Mama and Papa will notice we aren't home soon enough... we didn't tell anyone what we were doing, you know."

They'd been trusted enough to walk to their neighbors houses on their own, to visit friends, but to take the bus across town, all on their own? Nemu was certain they were going to be in big trouble, should they be found out, regardless of anything Alise said about never being noticed.

"Keeping it a secret...huh," Sato momentarily pondered on her answer. It didn't quite occur to her that it may be in their best interest to have that sorted out. After all, Nemu did bring up a good point, which is about their parents.

"How about we leave them a note in our room? That we're off to see... some friends," Sato suggested. In an attempt to reassure Nemu, she further added, "I don't know who, but hey, if you look at this map... I don't think it's going to take us to anywhere weird... also, we can... what's the word, bundle up? And take some snacks with us if we get hungry... and..."

Could Sato's reassurances be trusted? Possibly. It is without a doubt that some of her reassurances have failed to materialize, but there were times when it all worked out in the end. Therefore, Sato couldn't help but place stock in the possibility of everything working out in the end.

As usual, Nemu wasn't able to be successfully convinced to go along with her twin's mischievous scheming, and she continued to stand her ground, in the hopes that maybe she could convince Sato to change her mind.

"I don't know... I don't like lying like this..." she told her sister, feeling concern for the inevitable punishments they would receive for running off like so.
