It had been easy enough to find an apartment, slapping down a deposit and the first month's rent with the last lingering bit of his savings. He had enough leftover for a shopping trip to fill his fridge with the basics-- hummus was high up there on the list for him, along with yogurt and a case of beer. "Can't do Destiny City without beer," he had muttered softly after settling the case into his cart.
Next on the agenda was job hunting. He picked up a newspaper at check out, intending to brows through it over lunch, circling through options and opportunities in the 'Help Wanted' section. He'd picked up enough odd jobs here and there over the years that he knew how to properly market his qualifications. Fix-it, guard-it, lift-it... He was Mr Right For the Job in any of those situations and it was just a matter of finding something to put a bit of money on the table.
With his groceries put away at home, he'd head out in search of food, Help Wanted section rolled up and tucked into the back pocket of his jeans, heading down the street to a diner he was rather pleased to find out was still standing. There were some staples around town that the city just wouldn't be worth much without and this place was it.
