    New Brockton's South End is predominantly occupied by smaller suburbs tucked away into forested areas near the hills that surround the city, and open plazas near the coast that connect to public beaches. It's a decently affluent area with not too many tourists save for visiting family members. From the South End it's a fairly short drive to Downtown and there's a ferry that can be taken to the Boardwalk. In one of South End's many plazas there is a sculpture with many sets of wedding rings trapped within the bronze. However the locals and even many other residents of the city know not to try and steal those rings as death soon follows any that deface that monument to the heartbroken.

                                      From Downtown the pair would walk south into the South End. Tara's address was listed as within a neighborhood not to far beyond the border of the two districts. Huntsman wondered if Esper had ever been to it before. Obviously this whole thing was hard on him, hopefully this whole ordeal could be wrapped up easily. Following the directions displayed on his phone they'd soon follow the sidewalk into a sleepy city neighborhood of narrow row houses will small yards and driveways.Eventually they'd arrive at the the destination. Derek's truck would be parked in the street next to the driveway. Whether or not he'd been to it before, Eli would know instantly whose house this was as he'd know it wasn't Derek's. "I know you didn't have the best relationship with the victim, but if it's too hard for you it's fine if you wait outside." If Eli decided to wait Huntsman would simply walk up to door and ring the bell by himself.

                                      Mrs. Saito would be the one to answer, a look of utter dismay came to her face as the presence of Huntsman confirmed her greatest fear as she knew all to well who the man was. She knew now, she didn't wan't to, but his being here had confirmed the suspicions put in her by the news. However what she didn't know is what happened earlier in the morning. It would fall on Huntsman to break that news. Yukiko invited him inside of course, she knew that she'd want to be sitting down for this.

                                      As Ethan walked down the front hall to the kitchen he'd observe the various pictures of Tara handing on the wall, most featured her in some kind of sports attire. Within the kitchen awaited a surprise for the man, Derek Thompson was sitting there with Hiroshi though Hunstmand didn't yet know who he was. The boy looked quite distressed and Hiroshi was stoic but his posture betrayed his feelings. It painted a picture that the hero was all too familiar with. Even if Tara Zirnitra had been a school bully, she still had friends and loved ones that would miss. Few people really deserved to die so far he was concerned, and fewer still left behind without others missing them. "This is hard for me to say, but your daughter is dead."

From school Tara made her way back to her old neighborhood. She'd get there long before Thomas did since he'd have to sit around at school till one of his parents could pick him up after work. That left her plenty of time to trash his most cherished possessions. Upon arriving she noticed something weird, the first was what seemed to be a man carrying what she suspected was a battle ax and also a crossbow. The other was someone who appeared to be a kid though he had a mask on of some sorts. Vat are masks doing here? Is Thomas a ******** cape too? No vay zey're here cause of za school. Eiser vay, zey better not get in za vay. Choosing to ignore them and their presence at her home for now, Tara flew through the wall of Thomas' bedroom. It was filthy so far as she could tell, objects strewn about everywhere. She wasn't sure but it seemed like it might stink a little too. It was gross.

First things first, she wanted to know was what was on that shitty gaming rig of his. She'd heard him brag about the thing at school and maybe it had things on it related to his stalking activities. Standing near it she began to wonder about how to try and get into it. She could guess at his password but it could be literally anything. Thoughts shifting to the computer she began to feel almost as if she were being pulled into it. The sensation was like none she'd ever experienced before. That was when it hit her. An information overload of detail and facts regarding how exactly the computer worked. Or maybe that wasn't quite right. She didn't really know how it worked, more like she could feel each individual part of it and knew how to make them do their thing. She had the vaguest sense of how to make it do what she wanted it to do. Mental impulses fired off, she wanted to get into Thomas' account. The computer blinked to life and booted up without her touching it. Then her powers caused it to simply bypass the password requirement by hitting enter and sending the true vale instead of a false of one. It was so cliche, but Tara was in. A flurry of information blitzed her mind as program and file details exploded within her consciousness. It was overwhelming but she managed to read the file names none the less. In the end she found a repository of pictures, mainly of her so far as she could tell. There was so much information that it took a lot of her effort to stop at simply reading the names of files. Not like she really understood the pixel data all that well. Not being able to see was such a problem. There was probably more on there but this was too difficult on her brain. Despite that, the computer might come in handy later for exposing him so she needed to make sure that he couldn't delete the files. Making herself solid again, Tara quickly unplugged the all the cords and then touched the computer so that both she and it could become incorporeal. It was really heavy but she could still lift the thing. Flying upwards she phased into the attic and looked around. She needed a good hiding place. Eventually one was found. It was a void somewhere within a huge pile of old junk, that'd be perfect for what she needed. Flying over to it she maneuvered the computer into place and then let it become tangible again. Thomas would be deprived of his computer, and she could find it again later. Or point others to its location.

Now that her evidence was safely tucked away she could trash his room. Any video games on disc that he happened to have, she snapped in half. She threw his computer monitor across the room until it cracked and then broke. She broke any knickknacks or trophies that she could. Tore his bed apart, and ripped his dresser draws out of their slots. She wanted him to know what it felt like to be violated. In the end she utilized the lipstick she'd stolen from that apartment in Downtown to scrawl messages for him across the walls. "We're coming for you Thomas" was repeated a few times, as was "Rapist", "You should have left her alone", "We're going to kill you", and also for shits and giggles the following reference to that old a** movie Poltergeist: "They're here." It sucked that she wouldn't be able to see his face but this was sure to freak him out beyond any of her earlier antics.

► Name: Esper
► Occupation: Ward

•••▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬•••

INDENT Esper was thankful that Huntsman wasn't pressing for information or trying to get him to talk. It was tough for him, being so intimate with this investigation, but when Derek and a couple of other auras came into his range, he almost choked. Fear, worry, frustration, anger, despair. Those three were trying to find her, waiting for any information at all. They likely submitted a police report for a missing girl, unaware. HQ probably intercepted it so the police wouldn't be dispatched, knowing there was a team of Wards on the job. This only meant that he would be right there when the news was given to them. Esper glanced at the truck, and he remembered that Derek often times visited Tara. A few pieces clicked, and he nearly crumpled. They were already here. The two other auras were the Saito's. Tara's parents. "She and I were in a complicated relationship, but I cared. I might not be able to keep it together in there, so I will wait outside." Esper took up a post outside the house, not to close, but not to far. He was looking at the opposite facing house, slowly sinking into the emotions around him. There were not a lot of individual auras, but the ones he felt were strong. When Huntsman broke the news to the family and Derek, the emotions hit him like a brick wall, nearly knocking him over. Despair, disbelief, anger, rage, hate, sorrow, guilt, shame. So much of it at once. Dark reds and blues would form in a cloud around Esper's hands, as he tried to let some of the energy just flow through him. He almost missed it, a single light of hope: Tara.

INDENT She was very suddenly in his range again, but her movements were odd. They ignored most physical barriers. Then...he was hit by a long weird string of feelings. Tara was learning something at an almost intuitive level, and it was in the house across from her own. He pulled out his phone and shot Huntsman a text. "Penguin. Tara is in the house across the road. I don't know how, but she is. I can feel her, like I did at the school. Permission to investigate?" He didn't want to change Huntsman position in the house, but he also needed to go see if she was actually there, or who was if not her. Esper was almost hopeful. Eli was almost hopeful.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
INDENT Derek was floored. He had been sitting with Tara's parents, hoping she would come home. He had sent her nearly two dozen texts with no reply, only to find out she had never come home. They had been waiting for a response when a knock came at the door, and his heart dropped. When Mrs. Saito lead the man with the medieval weapons into the house, it feel through the floor. He could only say one word before holding himself back. "No." He didn't want to believe it. His girlfriend, the woman he was going to try and propose to when he graduated, the woman he was falling deeply in love with, was dead? No. A cape wouldn't give up like that. Were was Eli? He could find her. He tried to pick up his phone and text Eli, but he couldn't will himself to move, he just stared at the man, Huntsman, and looked angry and defeated. Nothing could salvage this. Nothing.
                                      This had always been his least favorite part as a detective, giving bad news. You often became a conduit for the anger and hurt of the people you had to inform. Mrs. Saito was devastated, he could tell. Tears began to roll down her face as she sobbed, her husband consoled her quietly as he moved to hug her. A slight tremor from the phone in its forearm holster told Ethan that he had a new message. A quick glance at the phone told him that it was Esper. Disturbing information to say the least, it was possible that the boy was more strongly attached to the girl than he let on and such a thing was just wishful thinking... but in his experience that wasn't who Esper was. Brandy. Try knocking on the door, if nobody's home and you're sure there's something going on you have my permission to break it down.
                                      After he finished sending the text his attention turned back to the parents and Derek. The boy seemed to be taking it rather hard as well. He'd wait for a moment to let them all collect themselves. "This is going to be difficult, I can't even imagine how much but I want you to know that we will find the person or persons responsible. Tara was the victim of a very heinous crime and unfortunately her body was stolen by an unidentified parahuman." He'd let the words sinkk in before continuing with more. It wasn't a good feeling, but he knew that he'd need to learn whatever they could tell him before getting stuck answering their questions. "Is there anyone besides her stalker that may have wanted to hurt her, or was there anyone in her life with parahuman abilities?"
                                      Yukiko and Hiroshi seemed to stare at him for a minute before shaking their heads. Yukiko began to speak furiously in Japanese at a rate which huntsman wouldn't normally be able to understand. Fortunately the Warden issued phones these days had some very good translation software courtesy of Dragon. 'Of course not! Her birth parents were quite clear about keeping her away from parahumans. If it wasn't for the damn police being useless!' She cut herself off as her husband looked to comfort her. "Tara had some issues... but to kill her? Please how did she die? Hiroshi's English wasn't great but it was better than his wife's apparently. Hunstman glanced to Derek, he had a good idea of who the boy was and after what Esper had recommended he didn't think it was a good idea to answer that in front of him. "You're her boyfriend correct? It might be best if you step into another room. I'm not sure you'll want to hear this."
User ImageBecause Mercutio was certainly not about to activate his burner phone inside his own loft before he had to necessary upgrades, he stepped outside and walked along aimlessly for a spell, down the hill from his apartment complex towards the beach-side plazas. His burner phone was turned on, immediately sending a text message off to another operative.
Ms. Collins. Lunch on me? If you're here a while, I have an offer. A place for to stay. Red roofed hat kiosk in the plaza 5 min.
Where he'd sent her was still a ways away walking, but he could see it in the distance. He was going to take his time because he wanted to finish up this phone call before he got there. Manually tapping in the number, as he never saved them, he let it connect before putting the phone up to his ear and his free hand in his pocket. "Hello, Sir. It's Martino. I'd like to request a quote and dead-drop delivery on company piece, and to let you know I'll be setting up a branch office in New Brockton's South End. Give us a revenue stream while we wait for things to cool down over there." He wasn't to blatantly state he wanted an illegal pistol and that he was setting up a criminal satellite in the city, but he had hoped his generic business talk wasn't too obtuse to be understood by his boss while Mercutio himself was in public.
Vincent was walking through the plaza drinking a cup of coffee wasting time. He was wandering around that way to keep himself from being bored by seeing new sights. After all this was going to be his new home and he might as well familiarize himself with it right? It was only fair that he knew at least the basic landmarks of the area. He stood in front of a sculpture had dozens of rings within it. Simply waiting for a phone call from any of the many corporations that he put applications into.
A voice other than what the man might have been expecting picked up on the other end of the phone. It was the bosses Secretary. "Hello Martino. That'd be $720 and I'll pass the message on. I'll have a time and location for the drop sent to you in a moment and we can handle payment through the usual means. Is there anything else? She waited, in case he needed anything else, instead of just hanging up.
► Name: Esper
► Occupation: Ward
•••▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬•••
INDENT Esper had to get further away from the house he as standing outside of. Tara's house. If he went inside, Derek would know him immediately. It was with a great sigh of relief when Esper received the message from Huntsman he was clear to investigate. He sent a very quick response to the team leader, 'Teal. Only one emotional aura in that house, the victim's. And...something is really off with her.' Quick in only the sense that Esper could type fast. He was already crossing the street to check the front door, to find it was locked. Instead of forcing his way through the front door, Esper went around to the back, and pulled on some of the emotions in the area. Not strong ones, but enough to blast the back lock open. He would make a note for a door replacement. Esper entered the house, and followed the lay out to find the stairs. Shouting could alert a possible parahuman that could stealth themselves, and he wanted to get the jump on Tara, again, due to stranger and master protocols. When he got into the room she was in, and opened the door, he blinked, thinking he should be able to see her, but instead saw...a lot worse. He sent another text to Huntsman. "Penguin. We have a serious problem. Sending pic." Esper started taking pictures, his mind focusing on also searching for anything to identify whose house this is. Perhaps Huntsman will ask Mr or Mrs Saito.
INDENT With his evidence pictures taken and sent to huntsman, showing him the ransacking of the room and the messages on the wall. He had been taking them and sending them quickly, so if there were any sort of static present, he didn't notice. Instead, he focused on Tara's emotional signature, and called out, taking his mask off. "Tara. It's Eli. Stop hiding please? I need your help." He wouldn't move much in the room, but he stood there, mask off, an eye directly at the core of where she should be located within the room, his eyes trying to spot her. He only hoped that she was ok, and not actually through some dimensional gate way.
INDENT Derek hadn't heard of a stalker in her life, and he was simple, not stupid. In connection to all the questions, he planted his feet and crossed his arms, anger flaring to life behind his eyes. Huntsman would recognize that kind of anger, the kind that would seek to harm someone who had hurt the people he cared for and wanted to keep safe. The kind of anger that could birth a vigilante, even one without powers. "Apologies sir, but I am not moving from here. These two are as much my family as my own, and their daughter was more than just my girlfriend. The truth would come out sometime regardless of trying to shield me now." Derek was stern, and stood strong. He was going to help the Saito family through this, no matter what. But his mind also drifted to Eli. He was worried about him in all of this. What if he was on duty? Derek knew Eli was a Ward now, but didn't know his code name. If only he knew who was across the street.
                                      The boy was certainly headstrong. Normally Huntsman would listen to his gut about these kinds of things but it didn't seem like Derek would accept not hearing things straight from the horses mouth so to speak. "She was attacked on her way home from school. I suspect her car was sabotaged by the perpetrator and she was ambushed near the cemetery. There's evidence that she was sexually assaulted before being shot in the abdomen. However she didn't die right away, the evidence points to her living for a few hours after the incident... I'm sorry. It was a brutal thing and I promise that I won't rest until the person responsible faces justice for the suffering they inflicted on your daughter." Yukiko just quietly sobbed as her husband held her. Hiroshi didn't look much better though he managed to hold back his tears. No parent could ever be prepared to hear this sort of thing. The sadness was crushing, and so too was his guilt. They'd told Tara's birth parents that they would keep her safe, keep her away from this kind of horror. They'd failed and now their baby girl was dead. A cloud of defeat, grief, anger, and guilt hung over the Saito's.
                                      Huntsman's phone quietly buzzed against his arm as Eli sent him more. It looked like he'd tried to send pictures after the messages but they were all jammed with static like the footage from the police station. Their parahuman was probably over there in the other house for some reason. This had the potential to be really bad. The connection between Eli feeling Tara's emotional aura and the presence of their parahuman bothered him quite a bit but it was still an unknown connection. For now he wanted to know why their parahuman was in that house. "Derek, I've heard you're a pretty headstrong young man and so please take my word about this and let us handle finding Tara's killer. I spoke with a certain friend of yours earlier today and he told me you might try to take her killer on yourself. I admire that kind of conviction, but let the law do its thing." With that said he turned to face Hiroshi again and took a deep breath while choosing his words with some care. "I don't know what if any connection this has to your daughter's murder but I really need to know who it is that lives in the house across from you?"
                                      Hiroshi stared blankly for a moment before he processed the question. "Martha and Dean Gerrick. Also their son Thomas. Why you ask?" Huntsman entered a request for information into his phone. Dragon would take care of digging up info and maybe they'd get some kind of lead. In addition to that he responded to Eli, Bank. Pics were static so be careful,
                                      probably our parahuman. I'll be there ASAP.
                                      His attention turned back to Hiroshi and he chose his next words very carefully. "A possible connection, just needed some info for my partner."
A weird sensation sparked through Tara's consciousness as she felt the backdoor's lock change in state. She didn't quite understand what it meant yet since she wasn't paying too much attention to such things. Thoughts of what to do next had been consuming her mind as she thought to maybe kill Thomas when he came home but then that'd be too easy, she wanted him to stew over this for a days first. To give him even a glimpse of what it'd felt like to lay there in that filthy hole while nobody came to help. That wouldn't even be close to real revenge but it'd get the job done at least.
Sensing a person, or rather their clothing approach she whipped around to face them. Why they were standing there was pretty big question in her mind and part of her wondered with curiosity if she showed up in photos since the person had held up their phone for a little while and seemed to be looking at all of her handiwork. Then she noticed that the person removed their mask. She didn't really get why, she didn't know any capes and how would they even know it was her even if she did? What was the point of them removing it? Maybe it was itchy or something? But then they appeared to be facing her general direction at least. The thought that they might be trying to show her their face kept lingering. Having so many senses absent was so frustrating! Being blind and deaf left her so unsure about so many things as of late.
Stewing in her frustration at the confusion over the current situation she gripped the lipstick tighter. Her hand reared back to throw it when she noticed that she hadn't touched the closet door yet. Maybe she could ask some questions? No that would be dumb. She was dead so not like some capes could do anything to her but they might get to Thomas before she did and she wanted to handle the piece of s**t herself. Wouldn't be as fun to murder him if he was in prison already. Turning to leave it finally dawned on her that she did know a cape. Eli... His powers were something she didn't recall but what if that was him? Who else would take their mask off? The thought left her feeling less than stellar. In all the rage and desire for revenge she hadn't even considered her parents, Eli, or even Derek. She'd made a promise to both boys to do better hadn't she? It was hard to remember. A pang of guilt crossed her mind, not the usual anger or resentment she'd felt for Eli in the past. It was like when she'd ignored how she felt to create the slander campaign against him. If it was him she didn't know what to do, and what if it wasn't?
On the off chance that she actually was in the presence of Eli, perhaps the best thing to do was nothing? Best if people didn't expect her to be around right? She'd kill Thomas and then well either she'd be stuck like a worthless shadow of her former self or she'd be able to move on to the afterlife. Part of her just sort of wanted to cry. They hadn't always been on good terms, but even now what if Eli was trying to help? Why? Clearly she didn't deserve it. However in true Tara fashion she soon switched from sadness to anger at the cause. One of her many emotional defense mechanisms.
INDENT Derek was white knuckling his own hands, he could feel the pain of his nails digging into his palms as he listened to the cape. Someone had planned to hurt her. Someone...hurt...Tara. "If presented the opportunity, I will not hold back breaking that person's face in. I won't go looking for trouble, but God help the man or woman who would harm her." Derek held his head high, while Hiroshi and Yukiko held each other. They could mourn, but Derek would rage against a world that would do something to a girl that had suffered enough. The question about Thomas's house didn't even register, he were still stewing in his fury, but he didn't move. He would open on hand, and wipe it on his jeans, before resting a hand upon Yukiko's shoulder, as a show of support for the parents of his girlfriend, but he was still radiating the heat of anger. Had he been a Jedi, he would have gone dark right there.
INDENT Esper felt all of the emotional turmoil across the street, and went to speak again, but...the aura began to move, and fast. It went through the wall, and Esper had to sprint to try and keep up after exiting the house, but the terrain was to much for his legs to manage, and the aura got out of range. He returned to the house and looked at his phone. The parahuman had been there? Something really wasn't adding up. Esper put his mask back on and walked to the front of the house to wait for Huntsman. When the man would arrive, he would shake his head. "Penguin. Never actually saw the parahuman. Only senses the victim's aura, and it flew through the walls and went towards the hills and outskirts of town. There was...a bit of emotional confusion from it as well. Guilt and confusion. I...I really think that it was Tara. I can't explain it, but its reaction to my face and voice suggested that it was having a hard time anchoring itself, and it was fueled by rage and revenge. Trust me when I say that. Let me show you to the room." Esper would then lead Huntsman through the house up to Thomas's room, and where the scene he had walked in on had been. At that moment though, Esper just wanted to get into his room and ignore everything. He wanted to shut down for the day. The longer this investigation dragged on, the worse he would feel. He turned his mind to the beacon of seething emotions, and felt bad he couldn't comfort Derek. He had a job to do though, and he was going to do it for him, for Tara, and for Tara's parents. He was going to solve the mystery of that damnable flying aura.
User Image"No. Thank you." He ended the call and punched in another number, this time to an interesting contact he'd had his eye on for a while. The number itself was to a service that would bounce his text around to a few places before finally being sent to Vincent, giving Mercutio himself a bit of insulation from his other activities.
Sie haben fünfzehn minuten zeit, um mit meinem agenten in kontakt zu treten. Fail, und zeig dein gesicht nicht wieder. Ich hoffe du magst italienisch ~The Broker
An address soon followed his text, along with a slightly pixelated image of his face for Vincent to have the gist of what Mercutio looked like., shutting his phone the moment he arrived at the stupid hat stand, right on time. She was literally the only patron there, which he had made sure of yesterday for this little meeting. He'd clear his throat and hold out his hand to get her attention and a shake. "Miss Collins. Very good to meet you. I am Mercutio Martino." He'd give her a chance to shake hands and reply, before gesturing with his arm further into the plaza. "I was thinking Ristorante Italiano, maybe some drinks? If Niccolo is working tonight, he makes an astounding Flaming Dr. Pepper that you have to try." While he hated it, sticking his hands in his pockets did make him seem more civilian, so he did just that and meandered with a purpose towards where their meeting with Vincent was to take place.
-----Talking to People:Sarah stopped her self from giggling, 'Miss Collins, no one has ever called me that before' She thought to herself. She shook his extended hand, "Its a pleasure to meet you Mr. Martino" Sarah said smiling. She followed him closely to his left, gladly leaving the small hat kiosk, letting him lead on. "I don't think I've been to an Italian place in some time" Sarah said idly.
