The gym was relatively quiet at this hour, only a few of the sparring rooms were active, and he found no one in the open training room that was filled with dummies.Along the walls were padded and wooden weapons, resembling the forged steel and iron ones he might one day hold.
The daggers, crossbow and the ninja stars were out, he wasn’t interested in drawing blood. Elias had already tried the buckler (awkward), and the brass knuckles just looked funny. He placed them back on the wall, and sat down in a near by chair. Resting his elbows on his thighs, he rubbed his eyes, pulling his face taunt as he let his head sink. His first week here and he felt so out of sorts, like a complete outsider, he just couldn't figure out where he belonged. A sudden thump from another room roused him.
And that's when he saw them, a pair of beautiful, metal and leather gauntlets. Hand protection. Elias stood and walked towards them, taking them from the shelf on the mirrored wall.
They were a bit dusty, nothing a light blow couldn't remove. Running his hand over the leather, he noted the careful stitch work, and the small metal pinning holding each piece of metal to the knuckles of the gauntlets. Elias pulled the left one on slowly, his finger tips touching fur as he reached the palm. His hands seemed to fit perfectly, and he hurried to strap them on. The right one was more difficult, he had to use his teeth to tighten the straps.
Elias stretched his arms, felt the weight, flexed his fingers and charged towards the nearest dummy.

The dummy wiggled on its base, a rip starting at one of the seams. Elias felt a surge of energy, and he looked down to the gauntlets. He lunged forward and tried again.

Dummy's Health: 21HP - 4
A puff of cottony material jetted from the opening seam.
The hard leather of the gauntlets, sewn in layers pointing towards his fingers dented the dummy's material belly. Elias stepped back, taking a southpaw stance and tried a combination. Right, left, right.

Dummy's Health: 17HP - 2
The dummy bowed forward and back, groaning on it's platform. The dents in it's stomach deepened, but didn't appear to be very effective. Elias wondered if it was the gauntlets, or his lack of strength.
He took a step back to look at the mocking dummy, a silly painted smile on it's face. Music would help him keep pace. He went towards his small backpack at the door of the gym, and unzipped the front pouch where his little iPod was located. The dexterity of the gauntlets amazed him, his fingers were able to move quite freely.
After placing the buds into his ears, he fruitlessly attempted to put on his jogging playlist, but the screen didn't work through the fabric of his gauntlets. Frowning, he brought the device to his nose, using it to scroll and press "Play All" on his chosen play list.
Elias started to bounce on his feet, working his way back to the dummy. He stuffed the iPod into his sweatpants pocket, and began striking the chest of the dummy again.

The base of the dummy rocked, nearly toppling over. The dents in the stomach of the dummy had turned to tears, and stuffing was oozing from the rips. Elias grinned, feeling sweat beading on his forehead. He felt proud of the body blow he had administered, and tried to think of more punches he could try.
He dropped his arms and shook them, feeling the music as the song switched. Elias pulled his hands back up to his face, shifting again to southpaw before unloading another fury of blow.
