You're attacked by a group of three small animals -- your choice what sort, but they should be native to the Louisiana area. Their eyes are crazed, and their action are erratic, implying that there's no sense behind their actions. These are wild beasts, and they attack together.
Hit Points: 10 each, for a total of 30, but one dies for each 10 HP damage you do to them. Damage: Each does 2 each time you attack, for a total of 6 to start. This number goes down as you kill them.
If you successfully kill all three animals and reach 500 words, each party involved in the battle gets 10XP and rolls 1d100 to collect loot according to the following:
1-40: You gain nothing but the victory of having beaten this opponent. 41-90: Moly Flower: a small white flower with a dark root. You're not quite sure what it's for, but decide to keep it. 91-100: Rabid Blood: these creatures have been infected with something that makes their blood potent. It can be vialed and used once to deal an extra 3 damage [after modifiers] on your next successful attack, after which it is consumed and leaves your inventory forever.
Briiva walked through the woods, having temporarily lost track of her roommate. And everyone else, for that matter. Her bow was drawn, hand on an arrow should she need it, but Briiva had yet to come across anything that didn't seem friendly. Arthur for now seemed content to ride in Briiva's back pack; It felt like her might be playing with her hair at the moment.
That was when Briiva felt something cold and scaly cross over her foot, prompting her to leap backwards and for poor Arthur to cling to her bag for dear life. In front of her where three snakes, whom had previously been buried under leaves and twigs. They hissed rather menacingly, moving faster towards her than Briiva thought was really fair.

Briiva launched an arrow to see if it would scare them off. It did not. The snakes all attacked, and even through their fangs ripped through her pants fairly easily, they didn't seem to be drawing any blood, so that was good. She stepped back, readying another arrow. "It's going to be okay Arthur, these guys might be a little hard to hit, but trust me, I'll get them."
Regardless, Briiva swallowed a little harder than normal as she notched another arrow.

Briiva launched another arrow, her only reward being three more bites from irritated, scaly worms. Briiva, shivered, she hated snakes. Still, she wasn't by herself here, so she wasn't about to let anything happen to her raccoon Chosen, so she kicked at the hissing things in order to back up once more.

Briiva finally hit one of the snakes. b*****d still bit her, but it was something at least. The bites were irritating, and Briiva was starting to get annoyed that she kept missing. Arthur was holding onto her hair now; she imagined he was at least a little nervous. A raccoon like him wouldn't have a chance against three snakes if Briiva went down. Kicking out at them again, Briiva did her best to maintain her distance.

Briiva fired off another bow, and this time one of the snakes flopped over like a noodle, convulsing in a death spasm. The other two got off more bits, but two was easier to deal with. "Alright, ********. Just two of you, two of us." She took aim again, turning to flash her frightened raccoon pal a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Arthur. I'll keep you safe!"

Before the snakes had a chance to bite at her again, Briiva had an arrow notched and fully extended. The resulting shot struck the snake and then some, sending it flying into the base of a tree where it hung limply. "******** yeah!" Briiva would have jumped into the air at the shot, if not for her tag along riding in her pack. The other snake struck and Briiva growled. Her pants were all but destroyed. She would have to make a note to get something more sturdy upon getting back. "Alright, snake. Just you now, surely you know I'm going to kill you if you don't run away. Your choice."
She circled the snake, notching another arrow.

Briiva shot, and missed. The snake of course, did not. Briiva was starting to consider the perks of natural attacks; she could certainly benefit from the accuracy being demonstrated by these snakes.

Another miss, another bite to remind her of the fact. "********!" Briiva was getting pissed off, more by her own aim than the persistence of her enemy.

"ow! mother- are you kidding me!?" Whatever the reason, Briiva was done missing this ******** snake. The pain from the attacks were starting to linger, and Briiva's patience was getting low. "Arthur, this stays between the two of us. I don't need anyone to know how bad of a shot I'm being right now. I'll give you a couple more grapes in exchange for your silence after this mess, deal?"
Arthur for his part, chittered. All he knew is that the snake didn't look very friendly, and his guardian was frustrated. He just wanted everything to be okay!

Briiva finally managed to pin the snake to the ground with one of her arrows and took the opportunity to walk purposefully to the snake and stomp down repeatedly on it's head. "Stop. ********. Biting. Me. It ******** HURTS!"
She emphasized the last word by grinding down her heel against the ground, hearing the various cracks and pops associated with crushing something hard and brittle like bones to dust. She felt her anger ebb away as tiny paws tried calming her by stroking the back of her head. Sighing, sh pulled Arthur from her pack and hugged him close, even giving him a kiss on the top of his head. "Sorry you had to see that. Here, as promised!" Briiva fed him a few grapes, one at a time. For his part, Arthur seemed unphased by Briiva's brief but violent outburst, happily taking the grapes from his still human custodian.
Briiva looked around the clearing and sighed. She had spent to much time on these damn snakes. Gently setting Arthur back into his position in her bag, Briiva set off looking once more for Davor.
