Personality:
Having happily cloistered herself within the city library as a child, Galacie grew up to love not only books, but the efficiency and process of organization itself. She enjoys a neat and orderly schedule, and finds peace in the quiet pages of books.
As to be expected, her introverted nature has made her social interactions more limited. Galacie is shy in that she doesn't know how to approach others, but she is not always quiet as she is brimming with thoughts to share. Both parents are particularly social, so she knows much of the general social etiquette and therefore becomes extremely polite in new situations. Living in the upper middle class has also fortified her ability to follow social niceties. Beyond weather commentary, however, her conversational skills take a noticeable dip.
Although her reclusive habits have left her primarily without friends, Galacie has a cat for companionship, who she found wandering the stacks of the library when she was a child. Having grown attached to it, she marveled at how living creatures as a whole can mean something, regardless of size. Her admiration for life in general has further been fostered by the stories in books, from fantasy adventures to the science of the human race. She is fully aware of the grim fate that humanity faces with the titans that prowl their walls, but can't help but find herself optimistic for humanity's potential.
As a voracious reader, Galacie is always on the hunt for new information. She's like a dog with a bone in that once she catches a hint of information, she refuses to let it go until she's satisfied with the whole picture. Having run out of mysteries in the city library, she wants to have the ability to explore the capitol and the military's libraries.
History:
Galacie's parents are a part of the upper middle class, with their wealth accumulated from smart investments and family inheritance. They are community leaders and run fundraisers to organize events, as well as host various groups for businesses and networking.
Having been left alone for the most part, Galacie took to the library from an early age, quickly forming her instinct for information science. This is her primary drive for joining the military, where she aims to gain access to information not readily available elsewhere. Her parents, though displeased with the potential danger, urge her to further their networking by making ties in the military. They, like many of the wealthier districts, view titans as a distant and negligible threat. There hasn't been an attack in 100 years, after all, and their location in the middle ring gives greater distance to the threat.
As a trainee, Galacie volunteers to do archival work for the military. Much of it is the general paperwork, trainee applications, and menial tasks that many dread. Her first goal upon graduation is to join the garrison to aid in protecting the walls, while using her prior volunteer work as experience to apply for the military librarian position.
Her future in this position, however, is to be compromised as she will eventually transfer to the survey corp to join the research division. She has little interest in fighting titans or becoming "humanity's hope" due to her less than exemplary fighting skills, but the chance at information on a mystery such as the titans is enticing enough to draw her out from the safety of the walls.
