He pressed her against the wall and lowered his head so his lips brushed her ear as he whispered softly. Her heart beat quickly and she caught her breath. He was going to kiss her. She had never been kissed. She felt a rush as her face colored and Thomas pressed his lips against hers. She stood there fro- Saxon jumped a guilty blush running over her cheeks. Only no one was looking. She stared as the Great Hall was emptying. She looked at the food on the table as it started to disappear. She had read straight through dinner again. She bit her lip and ear marked the page.
Saxon stood and made her way out of the Great hall and glanced around. It wasn't curfew yet... and she would just head to the library and finish reading this chapter. She smiled thinking about the characters in the book. She loved these books. Everyone had a happy ending. She made it five steps up the grand staircase and then sank to a stair. She would just see where they got to... and then she would make her way to the library. She pulled her book back open and reread the previous page, getting lost in the words.

"How is my fault you got detention?" Quillan asked dryly, his eyes narrowing at the upperclassmen. His panties were all in a knot because a teacher found some of the ink bombs he had sold to him. "I'm not giving you a refund and you can't sue me, if that's what you're thinking." As soon as the upperclassmen opened his mouth to respond, Quillan reached back onto the Slytherin mess table and grabbed an apple, forcefully shoving it into the boy's mouth till it wedged into his teeth. "Have an apple."
With that, he quickly darted out of the mess hall. Vaguely, in the corner of his eye, he noticed a girl reading a book but he thought nothing of it. He was too distracted by the idea of being beaten into a pulp by the upperclassmen. Outside the main hall, Quillan managed to blend in to a group of fourth years and slowed his walking to their pace until the coast was clear. By that time, he had found himself on one of the upper levels. Best get back to the common room... He thought, finding the nearest staircase.
Now... that's one more upperclassmen out for my head, Quillan thought, rather amused by the idea of someone taking time out of their day just to give him a visit. But that also left the possibility for getting ambushed and Quillan would very much like to avoid bodily harm... Maybe I should get a representative...
At that moment, he noticed a girl reading on the stairs. Ah hah! A lightbulb went off in his head as he softened his steps. As soon as he was directly above her, he swooped down and plucked the book from her hands and brought it to his face.
"My breath caught as Thomas--," he paused, a wicked smile forming on his face. Oh, this is perfect... "As Thomas pressed his lips against mine. A thousand chills ran up and down my body and there they remained even as Thomas pulled away from me and gave me that smile. The smirk." With that, Quillan eared the page and closed her book, looking at her with a rather pleased expression.
"My name is Quillan," he started, holding her book firmly out of her reach. "And you're going to help me out a bit," he started, a nasty twinkle in his eyes.

Saxon smiled. Thomas was just the man she wanted for herself. He was dashing and charming to a fault. Talented and could steal your breath with a kiss. She read on. Caroline was a lucky woman. A flush formed on her cheeks as she read and she was becoming very aware of her breathing. She knew where this scene was headed. She nibbled on her lip a tiny bit as she moved to flip the page but the book was torn from her hands. She gasped. And then there were words being read out. She turned bright red. No... this wasn't happening. She made sure to only read the novels that had innocent looking covers. So no one would ever know that she liked these kind of books. She turned her green eyes up to see her assailant and she squeaked. She hadn't been listening to the sound of the voice and so she hadn't noticed the male quality to it. But staring at Quillan now she couldn't pretend anymore that this wasn't happening.
She stared at him in terror. What did he want from her. She wasn't a good tutor... and she wasn't very good at general magic. Sure... if he had a pet that was sick... she could tell him how to treat that... but she wasn't one to brag and so no one knew about that... "W-what...d-d-do you..." She took a breath. He wasn't a man out of her books that was going to take her breath away. She frowned."N-no..." she frowned. "I-I-I don't want to help you... G-give me my book back..." She would probably give way if he tried to push the issue but the heroin in the book was spunky and stood up for herself. So why couldn't she. Saxon's face was bright red. "P-please"

Quillan was pleasantly surprised to see the color in the girl's face. He watched as she stuttered and his face grew wider at her troubled expression and tone. Ignoring her determined pleading, Quillan stuck the book in the back pocket of his pants and used his free hand to brush some of his ginger hair away from his eyes. "It's very rude of you," he started, crouching on the step above her so he was closer to her, "I told you my name and you don't tell me yours?"
From her flustered expression, it didn't seem that she was that good with conversing... Perhaps in general, but going from the type of princely romance book she was reading, Quillan would put some money down on her being shy with guys. Easy to manipulate... In fact, it would be easy enough to string her along if he played his cards right.
"You're pretty," he said matter of factly, looking at her eyes as he spoke. "I bet guys have a weak spot for you, right?" As he spoke, he watched her very carefully. Going from her antics, she wasn't used to many guys... She would need some training but Quillan was rather good at polluting others with his behaviors so that wasn't much of a problem. She'd be great at distracting angry upperclassmen going for my head... No one wants to bully a pretty girl... A soft smirk appeared on his face.

Saxon watched him pocket her romance novel and her bottom lip trembled slightly. It was ok... she had almost 100 more in her trunk. Rude? Her eyes snapped up and went to his. "But... you took m-my b-book.... Wasn't that R-rude too?" She flushed though. "Im Saxon... Saxon Seabrooke...." She straightened her skirt a bit.
She started. "No im not." She wasn't one of those pretty girls from her books. She had always wished to be. That perfect little princess type that got swept up in the romance of life. But she was just her... Not someone of emphasis. She went to class and studied. She wanted to be a vet of sorts, she would probably go under the name of Magizoologist. So she hadn't yet done anything of importance.
She shook her head. Boys tended not to talk to her. She read her books and they kind of went here and there making sure to stay a good bit out of her way. She bit her lip. She saw him smirk and she frowned. "S-so... can i have my b-book back?"

Quillan's shoulders shuddered in laughter when she pointed out he was being rude. But beyond that, it didn't penetrate his thick skull. "Nice to meet you, Saxon," He laughed, ruffling her hair with his hand like she were some sort of dog. All in due time, silly little Saxy--... that's really close to 'Sexy'... Wut. Quillan's eyes narrowed at his own thought process and quickly shook the thoughts from his head. Gotta focus!
"You're not?" Quillan inquired, raising his eyebrow. "Are you sure? Because I think you're pretty," He reassured, looking at her thoughtfully. "Nice eyes--green." He started, looking her over, "Guys always like long hair... Oh, and I think I see a cute butt beneath all those robes--but y'know, with all these frumpy uniforms, it's hard to tell," Quillan looked at her and laughed, giving one of his best boyish grins. My mother would be ashamed of me, he couldn't help but notice. OH WELL.
"Will you help me, Saxon?" He inquired, pulling out the book from his pocket and brought it forward towards her, but still just out of reach. "A favor for a favor," he propositioned, shifting his weight slightly so he leaned back on the stairs and allowed himself to stretch out.

Saxon watched him laugh at her. That was what happened. She would stutter and they always laughed. She bit down hard on her bottom lip. She blinked. She was still deciding if it was a good thing she met him or not. And then he ruffled her hair. She squealed coming off the step as if he had jabbed her with a hot poker.
She had to calm her self. She breathed. she looked back to him and leaned back against the hand rail. Ok. So he just wanted to pick on her a bit. She shook her head and frowned when he questioned her. She looked to his eyes when he asked his second question. A hint of curiosity sparked. She was just going to ask him if he was serious... when he went on. Her eyes? Her father had always said she had pretty eyes. But she passed that as she had gotten her mother's eyes... and he loved her mothers eyes so he had to like hers... She knew guys liked long hair. She had read hundreds of romance novels and not one had super short hair. However her face was turning red again. And at his perusal of her rear she fluffed out her robes to hide anything he was seeing. Her eyes roamed his face a moment. He was cute. With his red hair and boyish charm... So he thought she was pretty...maybe....
She gave a shy smile. However at his next question she found herself starting to nod. If he had left it there she would have been putty in his hand but his comment about her needing a favor had her crossing her arms. "B-but i don't need a favor." As he sat back she sank back down slowly not reaching for her book knowing he would tug it away anyway. "I-if you hadn't s-stolen my book... I wouldn't need it back."

Her antics were cute. Fluffing out her skirt to hide herself? It was very innocent of her. Especially considering the type of book he just caught her with. "If," he reminded her with a grin, "But I did and now I have this romance book of yours--and you were just getting to the good part. Thomas and whatsherface were about to have sex, right?" Quillan began to gauge her reaction--wondering if the mention of the dirty deed had crossed the line. "That wasn't a spoiler, was it?" He inquired with a laugh, flipping open the book and reading more of it to himself.
For a few minutes, the book distracted him and he glanced up at her. "So you like guys like Thomas?" He asked, curiosity temporarily taking him out of his current manipulative scheme. Perhaps if I get my hands on one of these books, I can hone my manipulation skills... It was definitely something to think about. Would it honestly be that hard to take one of these corny romance novels and become the moody heart-throb?
Then, Quillan thought of another way of attack and handed the book back to Saxon. "I could get you more of these if you help me out. I'm sure you have to run out sometime--and sure, you can reread 'em, but they must lose their excitement after the third or fourth time," Quillan commented, leaning in towards her but keeping his distance so she wouldn't squeal and bound away like the last time he touched her. "Or I could even help you get over your shyness, if that's what you want," He added with a shrug. From what he read of Caroline, she was strong and independent and outspoken... And if he knew anything about his business, it was that people tended to fantasize about things they wanted. When it came to books or scrolls, it was the things they strove towards. "All you need to do is settle some people down when they come looking for me."

She frowned. He had a point... and if he wore that stupid little hat they had to buy... then no one would see it... She turned bright red and actually felt sick to her stomach. What was she going to say... No? He wasn't stupid... he would know she was lying... Yeah... they were going to go at it hot and heavy against the wall.. The book he had taken was one of her favorites... this was her fifth time reading it. She just watched him with a deer in the headlights look. She could get a new book... just cut her losses and run for the common room? She contemplated it. As he opened it and read she knew he was reading the start of the sex scene.
She turned her eyes down. When he asked her about Thomas she started and looked up at him. Again... what was she to say. Sure she did... he was daring and handsome... The kind of man who would pin her to the wall and love her forever ever after. Didn't every girl want a man like that? She couldn't answer so she just shrugged a bit. Her book was presented to her and she pulled it to her chest. "T-thank you...."
She smiled and shook her head. "My mom sends them Via owl..." She flushed. "She buys them for her... and when she is done reading them she sends them to me... knowing i like to read as well... I have a huge collection here...." She had become animated. When talking about books she came alive and wasn't afraid. "But its a kind offer..." She didn't notice the leaning in so much until she looked up and he was closer. She contemplated moving but he wasn't in her space too bad so she bit her lip. She would love not to stammer and stutter around boys. After all... she was never going to relive one of her books if no man would look at her twice.
She frowned again. "How... would you help me?" She tucked her hair behind her ear and pinned him with a look. She was supposed to deflect people. "Why would they need to be settled down?"

Huh... she has a system similar to the way I get new merchandise... Instead of his mother, it was his cousin, his uncle, and even a bit of his father sending him strange objects. Things like candy he could always request from his mother or from either set of grandparents. They were too naive to believe that he was doing anything besides eating what decadent treats they were giving him. Similarly was the case with scrolls and textbooks, except reading, not eating.
Quillan noticed that she was definitely interested in working her way out of the stutters and blushing. Who wouldn't? It's hard to take someone seriously when they don't look into your eyes and they blush at the drop of the hat... Was that a bit of sympathy he was feeling towards her? Even if it was, he didn't work for free so the conditions had to stand. "For one," he started, "You could stop with the shifty eyes. When I'm talking to you, your eyes should be on mine."
He waited till her eyes met his before continuing, "I'm a guy. You can get used to me, can't you? That's a start. Just talking and being around me--you can even read me those books to get over your stutter," Quillan suggested, indicating with his finger to the book she held against her chest. "And maybe we could try some of those... things out," he said with a boyish laugh. It wasn't a serious proposition--he knew she wouldn't bite. The best he'd get was probably a smack.
"I supply people goods and sometimes the recipient gets angry," Quillan began, choosing his words very carefully. "You wouldn't have to help me out until you feel more comfortable," he began, hoping the idea of postponing the payment would be comforting for her. Then he'd have her trapped.

Saxon looked him directly in the eye as he spoke and there was a a hint of a spark of fire. She gave him a frown. It wasn't like she wouldn't look at them if she could... but she was mortified. She bit her lip. He was a guy... but he wasn't a thomas guy... He was a guy that her mother had always warned her about... She shrugged holding her book as something of a barricade. "Maybe... if you and i hung out a-" She flushed. He wanted her to read her books to him and do... things? She thought about the book in her arms. She remembered the sex scenes vividly... steamy bodies pressed together. She would never... ever... be able to read those out loud.
She stood there... looking into his eyes... it was amazing how much you could see when looking into a person's eyes. But she faltered and looked down. He hadn't been serious. Which was a good thing right... Right? He thought she was pretty though... or had that been a joke too? She looked back up with a frown. "Why would they be angry?" She glanced down the stairs. "Or are you one of those people that go for weak spots?" She looked back to him remembering his first dictate. "If... and i mean if... you can get me c-confident enough to get a boyfriend... I will help you... And not some sleezy guy... i want a T-thomas.." She flushed. There was a hard task... there... She would never have to help him. She nodded. "S-so there... thats the deal... when i have a good looking...charming boyfriend... i will sooth over all the feathers you ruffle."

Quillan gave his best supportive and reassuring smile when Saxon made the effort to look into his eyes. Just from the increase in stuttering and blushing, he could tell how anxious it was making her. This will probably take some time... But Quillan wasn't a quitter. It wasn't in his nature. Well. At least not a quitter when it came to anything besides schoolwork. Either way, he was almost certain he could get her more comfortable. And then she gets to help me... Quillan hid his devious smirk but his thoughts were swarming. The silly girl had used an absolute. Soothe ALL the feathers... He would have her for an infinite amount of time.
As for the Thomas she was describing, Quillan had a few guys in mind. He knew Dorian was hung over on some girl who wasn't in the least interested in him anymore and girls seemed to like his strange self righteous nature. Though he would have to send out more feelers.... and make sure that the guy he involved her with was a good one after all.
"It's a deal, Saxon," Quillan extended his hand to shake, "I will help you overcome your shyness and even help you snag a Thomas boyfriend." With that, Quillan stood up and stretched his back. "Our first lesson will be tomorrow after classes near Black Lake. Bring one of those books you like."
Quillan extended a hand to help her up before making his departure, "See you then, Saxon!"

Saxon didn't know what hell she had just signed up for so she smiled as she shook his hand. "A-alright then... Its a deal..." She pulled her hand back and smiled softly. "I can't wait..." She stared at him though. He was just assuming she had all the free time in the world. She did, but that was beside the point. She flushed. He was going to make her read to him... She would have to look through all her books and find the most innocent. The one she was holding was no where near innocent.
"Alright..." She took his hand to let him help her to stand and then she smiled. "See you tomorrow." She watched him go and then glanced to the time. She hurried off to the common room. What was she doing making deals with the devil... She was going to owe the man her soul for this and that... was terrifying.
