+Swan-Song+ Swan sat outside the warren for the first time since the raid. Leaving his burrow he learned of a death; and of injuries. So many rabbits injured. Shivering at the buffering wind he look to the sky and watched the clouds rush by. It was cold today, but clear. Quiet suddenly he started grooming the fur of his stomach as he stood on his hind legs. He was worried for those he had gone with. He had raced home, too scared to continue; but what had happened to the others? Namely the brown doe who had been so supportive of him? He had tried to stop a rabbit to ask but they were just all too busy to speak to him for long; if they did at all. He was an odd one; many did not like him near though it seemed to be half and half. Aythi slowly worked her way up and out of the warren, feeling the need to stretch her legs, particularly the left leg as it felt most stiff from where the shot landed on her back haunches. So many injuries, even a death. She wasn't even sure who all on her team made it back alive and in once piece. Her mind kept wandering back to that single moment where she saw her life flash before her eyes. She was sure the black rabbit had been dancing on the tip of the gun as it was aimed her way. And that horrid horrid sound of a gun blast rang so deep in her ears, she felt as if she would never get it to leave. If only she could just get a moment of silence.....
But she paused. It seemed someone else had ventured out side today, despite the cold winds. She was about to hop off in the other direction for a little bit of quiet when she realized she recognized the small white and black rabbit. Swan-Song, the terrified little seer who had been on her team and had to sneak into the bin. He looked upset about something as he groomed himself and that brought a soft smile to her face as she slowly hopped over. "Feeling alright dear?" she asked in a soft and tender voice, coming up beside him and resting on all fours in a way that put less pressure on her sorest side.

+Swan-Song+ Swan was thinking of a great many things, and wishing on others. Such as he wished he was perhaps a bit bigger, or less scared. Either or would work. Then he was worried about the next raid, they had not gotten enough food for the winter. Even though some of the food had gotten shoved out, not all of it had been carried back; and now they had more rabbits to feed. Grooming the snow white fur he didn’t notice the doe, his mind a muddled black wiry mess as he tried thinking of what would happen in this next raid; who else would stop running, be hurt? There were too many rabbits now.
At the sudden voice his ears sprung up and he twisted to see Aythi. Surprised he fell over on himself and had to untangle his own limbs to stand again. “Aythi!” Pleased as could be he moved toward her and crouched down somewhat confused at her odd posture. “You’re okay, I tried to ask but no one wanted to talk and I don’t know where your burrow is.” He wiggled forward and bumped her nose, but as he was so close, he now smelled. Blood. “Are you okay?” He looked at her, seeing how she was standing. (( ooc: ))

Aythi let a soft giggle play about in her throat as he tumbled over himself, only to launch himself forward and bumped noses with her. She smiled at him, her green gaze soft and gentle, though at the mention of blood her ears gave a small flicker. "I'm alright now, its nothing that wont heal in time." she said, shifting herself slightly on her paws. Had he been told yet that she had been shot? Part of her wasn't even sure she wanted to tell him, less it worry him over the edge...and she wouldn't be able to forgive herself if he fretted himself into the open paws of the black rabbit.
Instead she shook her head, doing her best to sit up and look less awkward, taking a paw or too to smooth over his tuft of fur on his head. "How are you? I'm glad to see you seemed to have made it back alright." she smiled again, drawing her paws back to herself. "Oh, if you'd like sometime, I can show you where my burrow is... your always welcome to drop by." she said, trying to sit up a bit and stretch her leg, her wound being a lot more obvious now though she seemed to be trying not to think about it.

+Swan-Song+ Swan frowned as she said she was fine; he was sure she was lying. Frowning ever slightly he tried to puzzle what could have happened. “Didn’t you come back to the warren right away?” He had not looked back, something he regretted. He had just been too scared and wanted nothing but his small burrow and his lovely scented dried leaves lining the bottom. He was distracted from his bleak thoughts as a paw went to his head. He looked up to her and flicked his ears happily, eyes closing in a lull. “I am okay, no one much talks to me now. Better than being bumped into or getting their backs.” He didn’t understand what was so threatening about himself.
He was small, what could he do? Yes he saw things but they could surely help if others let it. Then again, many did not believe him. Ninebark after all, was this warrens seer; not him. Hearing the offer he sat up again having lulled into sitting low to the ground. “Oh that would be nice, I could show you my burrow, but I don’t think you would fit.” He trailed off catching sight of the nasty red wound. Squeaking he gave a hoop to her side and look closer. “You were shot! How is that fine!” He tilted his head, still looking at the hole, how could she even be walking? It had hurt him to and he had only used his paws to dig against that thing that held the doe from before. Guilt crashed down on him and Swans whole body seemed to deflate and he crouched low at her side. “I am sorry, I should have looked back; or stayed.” ( (ooc: ))

Aythi shook her head, her ears flopping a bit against her neck as he discovered her wound. "I live another day, thank Frith, Inle' did not want me that night, so to me, that is fine." she said, her smile still soft and sweet like a mother to her new born kittens, though she surly didn't view Swan as a helpless kit. He just managed to snag a special place in her heart. "And I am healing, which is also another miracle. But I needed to stretch. I couldn't sit still any longer." she chuckled softly again, gently turning her head to touch her nose to his.
"No, I told you to go back to the warren for a reason Swan-song, and that was so you were safe and unharmed." she said more sternly, her voice taking on a new tone she had never quite felt before until after the raid. "I wouldn't have forgiven myself if Inle' had taken you that night, or you were hurt." she said, doing her best to press closer to him, gazing into his forlorn blue eyes. She suddenly picked him slipping into the bin and shoving the food out one by one, even how he couldn't fit the cabbages and shoved them through leaf by leaf. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips from that memory.

+Swan-Song+ Swan looked at her uncertainty but gave a bob of his head in agreement to Frith. He was glad, how horrid it would have made him feel. The first rabbit he silently called a friend; had laid still. He would be cursed and Inle would surely be dancing in his heart to sneak through to any rabbit he cared for. His ears stood some and he pressed his nose back. “Well, you picked a bad day, it’s cold and windy.” He looked at her wound, wondering if it were healing alright. He had not seen it before, so he could make no call on that, agreement or otherwise. He shivered some as a black thought crossed his mind.
His ears dipped at her voice, and he stared back at her, uncertain and wary. He had recalled how scared he was, how he swore his heart would just stop. “Yes, but what of me? I see you come back injured when I had turned and ran to the warren.” He watched her, his ears slicked back and his body low. He had left her, just because she had told him to go home; he left her and she was hurt. Leaning against her with care of the wound he watched her smile and wondered at what. "Next time, I won’t leave until you’re coming right alongside of me.” Aythi was the first rabbit to touch him other than to move him out of the way or frighten him. He felt selfish, but he did not want her to leave with Inle or even Frith. (( ooc: ))

The doe couldn't help but smile more at his persistence. "Then next time we will just have to run together." she said, grateful for his warmth and comfort next to her. The wind stung a bit but it was nothing compared to that night when the bullets had hit her haunch, nearly her spine. She shivered a bit, but from the memory of it, not the cold wind. "A wound heals though. Death... doesn't. Not even in the hearts of those who have lost someone." she mused aloud, her ears back as she half shut her eyes in a day dream like expression.
Truth be told she had no plans to go on any more raids. At least not right now. She was still somewhat frightened inside. And those thoughts sparked a question in her mind. "Would you ever go on a raid again?" she said, opening her eyes and turning to blink at him. She wondered what he would say, though she had a feeling what he might. And that brought a silent chuckle to her throat. She couldn't say for sure if she would or not. If anything, she hoped to be able to some how prevent more rabbits from getting shot. At least she knew how it felt, how it smelt, how things had looked before and after.....
