In the forests surrounding a town out in the country, there is not supposed to be wolves. Yet all the villager know there are. They have seen them and heard them. Strange, very smart and so very large wolves.
It's the time of the full moon and the sun it setting. It's night like these that they were most active. Strange, how no one notices some of the people slip away when the people turn in for the night.

Lark on such night when she can't sleep and the howling is louder this night for some reason decided she wanted to find out about the wolves that howled near the village every full moon she wanted to see if the tale the villager's told was fact or fiction if their where larger than life wolves she wanted to see them for herself what she found instead was something completely out of a horror movie

Devon moved through the forest and silent feet. He could feel his pack surrounding him and spreading out through the forest. They were strong and swift. Filled with the vitality and strength the moon provided. He knew they could all run on all fours for hours. He felt there eagerness. This was their night to let go. Within reason of course.
A breeze ruffed threw his white fur. He turned to the left, making a b line for higher ground as his pack continued forward. He made in up to an outcropping looking over the valley. He raised himself up, letting loose a long strong howl.
The others took up the call, entering their voices into the pack song.

Lark was wandering in the forest looking for the wolves of legend her family had told her about all while growing up in the village and that said family and towns people had no idea she was out wandering where she shouldn't like always she stepped carefully over a fallen log making sure she didn't fall she had only a flash light and a camera with her and the only clothes she had on was blue jeans and a dark shirt in case she was seen going outside the village boundaries
her gym shoes were not exactly the best choice and her feet kept getting caught in the undergrowth while she was getting her foot out of a prickly patch she looked up and closed her eyes for a moment and heard the howl of the wolves. "There close." she whispered to her self before moving on

Devon let his howl drift away. He turned, padding down the steep hill. He would make his way to the meeting place. He and his pack would meet with the alphas of other packs, updating him on the news all the towns they occupied. Hopefully there weren't going to be any problems.
He made it to the clearing first. There was a ring of boulders around. Places for everyone to sit. This was also were they left their clothes. Devon shifted back. Rising back up onto two legs, he returned to his 6' 2" height. He grabbed his pants and pulled them on. He enjoyed his wolf form but these meeting were taken in human form. It kept arguments from getting too violent.

Lark had found her way into the cleaning on the other side of the ring of boulders she stayed hidden from the very large and strong looking white wolf so the legends were true then the wolves were larger than normal and they seemed to be very intelligent or at least this one did this white wolf was also very beautiful and he sang powerfully was this the packs leader he looked like he was if he wasn't then the real leader then the alpha must be very formidable indeed as she was hiding in the shadows she picked up her camera and started taking pictures lucky for her the flash was off soon the white wolf stepped down from the hill and moved toward the boulders and sat there and then before she knew what had happened she was staring at a boy with white blonde hair she gasped and took a step back not looking too where she was going she fell and some twigs snapped under her

The snapping twigs rang in Devon's ears. He turned toward the sound. His eyes still a startling yellow. A grin spread across his face.
"Oh? You're here already?" he said, walking swiftly over. "I suppose you are the newbie I heard of?" he asked. Newly turned were always introduced. Mostly to help reinforce the pack mentality they were now getting used to.
She was cute. Though extremely frightened looking. Understandable. This must be so new to her. He reached toward her, but froze. His nostrils flared and his face hardened. She scent wasn't Were. It was human.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?!" he growled, grabbing her arm.

Lark squeaked when the boy came over to her and started talking but then she was just confused Newbie ? How did he know she was coming and a newbie at what? He wasn't making any sense at all how could she be a newbie when she never met him before in her life she had accepted his hand that was offered to her but the minute she took it his nostrils flared like he smelled something bad but she didn't smell anything then she suddenly found herself in a grip like iron and he was growling words at her she couldn't help it she trembled in fear and whimpered when she grabbed her she had dropped her camera and the lenses broke she manged to st udder out the answer but she couldn't get much out do to fear ."M..m.my name is Lark and I..i was taking a walk." she closed her eyes hoping it was just a dream

Devon saw the camera drop. His eyes widened and his eyes seemed to burn with his anger. "You were taking pictures?" he said quietly. He picked it up. The lens was broke now so he didn't have to worry about more pictures. But what had she gotten?
"How much did you get on that camera. And how much did you see?" he growled out again. The angrier he got the more animal like his voice became. Yet, he had a right to be angry. He'd manage to keep his people a secret. He could not afford to expose themselves now. Not when they've had peace for so long.
Howls sounded behind him again. He glanced over his shoulder, cursing. They were coming.

Lark was shaking harder now and crying she was so scared it was just a dream it had be if it wasn't then she was in a living nightmare with someone out of a horror movie and he was getting angrier and angrier by the second and he was sounding more and more like the wolf he had been two minutes ago but that was impossible right wolves don't become people that just didn't happen it couldn't could it? "I was taking a few pictures of the white wolf and then you where standing their where the wolf was but i didn't get and pictures of you just the wolf please don't hurt me please." Her head shot up in absolute terror when she heard the sound of more howls there was more of them she tried to run but had forgotten she was begin held in a vise whens she was reminded she only cried harder

Devon gritting his teeth against the hysterical crying coming from the girl. He needed to calm himself. He may have gotten the answer he needed, but traumatizing this girl wasn't helping. He had to worry about his people. Dominating didn't work with humans. They were much more delicate. Especially this girl. Her arm felt so fragile in his hand, even as she struggled against him.
He took a few deep breaths, calling on the control he'd used do many times before. His eyes became a duller color and when he spoke his voice was smooth again.
"Calm down. I won't hurt you." he said, his face expressionless. "If you don't be quiet, things are going to get a lot harder for you. I can't hide you from the others. You need to prepare yourself." he said.
The other wolves were stepping into the clearing, one by one.

Lark pressed her lips together and let out a small whimper when she saw more wolves come into the clearing more or less the same size the white one had been and one by one they started turning into people like the one before her had done she was shaking uncontrollably and was unable to stop plus her eyes got bigger when they began to come closer to them she felt faint with fear but she couldn't faint if she wanted too because what would they do to her if she did eat her? Maybe and she didn't want to try it out. "Please just let me go please." she begged quietly she wanted nothing more than to go home and write this off as a really bad dream

Devon stared at her. He felt them come closer, changing as they did. Some would see her already. He looked deeply into her eyes and nodded. Releasing her arm, he stood.
Tonight, she would do nothing. He was sure of that. She would probably run home and hide herself. But he was afraid he could not leave her alone. She had already seem too much. One day, she would get brave enough to tell. He wouldn't have that. Not now. And not like this. He took the camera and turned to his pack. Right now, he had business to take care of. He wouldn't let a human be the center of that.

Lark stifled a sob when so saw yet more of the wolves coming in from the tree line on the other side of the clearing she bolted before he had even fully released her hand she didn't want him changing his mind and hauling her out in front of the wolves like an offering not like she would be that heavy the guy seemed like he could lift her with one hand which is what her farther had done often when she was younger she was not very tall for her age in fact she never has been but that didn't stop her from running blindly into the night forest like a deer by the time she got home she collapsed on the bed and tried to go to sleep. "It was just a dream she whispered

Devon watched her flee his presence. She was like a mouse. So small and frightened. He chuckled at the thought, but was abruptly serious. It wasn't a laughing matter. That girl could expose them all.
"What that what I think it was?" said Fredrick, his Beta at his side. His nostrils were flaring as he scented human.
"Yes." Devon said bluntly.
"So you just going to let her go?"
Devon shot him an amused looked.
"I thought not." Fredrick sighed. "Sheryl! Bo!"
Two women step up, both wearing simple shift dresses. Everyone dressed simply tonight. They didn't need a lot of clothes. They got in the way when changing.
"There was a human girl here. Follow her to her home and make sure she talked to no one. Once you find the house, one of you return. The other will guard." he commanded.
A look past between them, but they nodded and obeyed.
"And I thought tonight would go by smoothly." Devon grumbled. "Seems I have some explaining to do."
Fredrick clapped him on the back. "Isn't it always like this?"
And so the meeting started.
