#1) Tom Cruise is a legend; he sang amazingly and his acting was out of this world. #2) They most definitely did not ruin it. They changed it from the play A LOT but it wasn't ruined!

I think they were both amazing! Why do you think they weren't? What did they do wrong?

Hey_there_hun I think they were both amazing! Why do you think they weren't? What did they do wrong? sung everything way to low and slowly. Pour some sugar on me sounded like he was burping half the time. They try to hard to add their own flair to songs. Hit me with your best shot sounded like a redneck that just smoked a pack of Marlboros. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it.

Yeah, I'm not seeing it either... I like rock, but I hate musicals/plays... so, I vomited a lil when I saw the previews for the first time.

I liked the music. I'm not such a fan of the acting and how the plotline worked. I've never seen the musical onstage yet, but I was told it actually wasn't very different. All in all, it was a good movie, but not the best I've seen.
And, no, Tom Cruise did not sound like he was burping half the time during "Pour Some Sugar on Me". And Catherine Zeta-Jones did not ruin "Hit Me With Your Best Shot". I admit she didn't sing it as well as the song should be sung, but she certainly didn't ruin it.

Tom Cruise could sing on key, and the way he portrayed his character was really good. He may not be going platinum any time in this century, but I didn't start bleeding from my ears, so that's all well and good. Plus, he's pretty sexy in this movie. Catherine Zeta-Jones was wonderful, and it was too bad that she played a character that had no depth. It was fun to watch. I really enjoyed how different songs would overlap each other and build up the story through their lyrics. I also loved the choreography, especially with the poledancers (secretly my favorite part).
Nobody should watch that movie expecting phenomenal storytelling, characters, and exact replications of their favorite rock stuff. They should watch it expecting caricatures of rock fans and haters of rock, an archetypical plot, and covers of familiar songs that also captures what the moment is trying to get the viewer to understand.
@kefkadragon: Covers aren't made of songs because they think the original singers did it wrong. People cover music they love because they want to add a little of themselves to it as tribute.

As I've said before. If it isn't broken don't fix it. If you love it, just say so. Don't add yourself into it and tarnish perfection.

Irako of the Desert Nobody should watch that movie expecting phenomenal storytelling, characters, and exact replications of their favorite rock stuff. Which is why I am not going to see it... because it's expected that the story's not going to be too good, the characters may act a bit funny, and there will be only a thin replication to favorite rock stuff.
