Welcome to my OC thread- a.k.a., my writing thread. I hope this thread will help me (as well as you) explore my Original Characters (and OC's in general).

Take a look around, get some info on my/other's characters, and hopefully even learn what makes a solid, resolute, consistent character. And, as I add on to this, even how to apply a story to the character and make them unique while sticking to realistic and logical tactics.

See that quote? That means it's okay to get inspiration from others!

This is my tips and explanations box. Isn't it lovely? I'll add things onto it as I have more time to write here. C;

Character Maintenance

Creating a character (birthing the character) is a lot easier than making one. What I mean is, a character is like a child; it grows and develops from the first time you created it. An unchanging character is not a character at all. Rather, it is an enigma of stiff, lifelessness, the truest puppet there could be. To take the strings off of your puppet, you have to allow it to change.
It's difficult to do this right off the bat. Most writers have trouble giving their characters backstories when introducing them to the guild; they don't know what to say to make that character unique enough to be noticed. That's a common problem, you see; the object is not to get noticed, it's to write. Write however YOU want to. (Follow the rules of course though hah). Meaning do what you think is right, and true, to your character. Don't make up an elaborate story about how awesome and great your character is and stage every event in their life, alerting others ahead of time what's about to happen, planning it with other members...the character will soon become to feel fake to you, and you will lose your attachment to it eventually. In any case, that is my experience in those situations.
I have started to like the idea of "non-destined" writing. When you don't know what's going to happen next to your character. When you live moment by moment in the present rather than the future of your character. From what I've experimented with, this builds a storyline all its own, and you can start with a fresh, clean character with no story and, when writing moment by moment, build up a long list of adventures that make the character.
Hopefully you see what point I'm trying to get at-people aren't born with backstories! They are made in the life of the character. Of course, if you start out with your character being full-grown, you have to have something about their past, right? Well, right. But don't make their past more extravagant than their future! Give yourself a chance to discover your character's truest moments of living for yourself instead of writing it in their bio.
In sum, making a character involves spontaneous thinking, a will to change personality/appearance/characteristics of your character, and, overall, patience. As you write you will see your character's life forming into something solid, and it just may startle you how much they accomplish. Their children, their mates, their trophies of living, all will be revealed as you write; and it's so much more fun when you don't already know what they are!

v----Puresun
(this pic with folded ears instead of pointed lul --> )

News: wahmbulance WEE-OO-WEE-OO- she's single now! D:
BUT, be sure to note that any cat who gets involved
with her romantically is likely to find negative results.
Negative...that's all I can say! Not to the extent where
your cat gets killed or anything like that of course. But
know you are GAMBLING with this gal-secret story
is secret!

Explanation

Puresun' story began as little Purekit many months ago when I adopted her from the user ' S u m o m o as Purekit, Lavenderstar's little daughter in her only litter of two. I adopted her in my earliest stages of Roleplaying-when I had just started. So, I tried to model her to be perfect.
I had no idea what a Mary Sue was at the time, but my description and ideal of Puresun basically fit just that. She was kind, sweet, friendly, and just hte perfect little angel! And she always would be. Right?
Well, wrong. My bestest friend in the world, Trixie Buddy, joined the guild and made her first cat ever-Forsaken. This twisted, evil demon that liked to haunt the NigthClan marshes. It piqued my interests, at the very least to have her meet him.
And then I got the strangest sensation! As I was writing her first post meeting him, I felt a sudden urge of fascination. Fascination at the thought of this tiny little kitten meeting an evil spirit in the dark, looming marshes! A perfect little kitten, don't forget. Yet, this perfect little kitten seemed to speak to me-seemed to say, Who is this dark cat? What is he?, and her own curiosity seemed to overwhelm me, even though I already knew everything about Forsaken myself.
It was this strange sense- silly sense, I like to call it-that led Purekit to fall in love with Forsaken as curiosity and wonder evolved slowly into compassion and sympathy until, finally, it was a flowering love. On her part, anyway.
Silly sense, yes. What a silly thing it is to say that one felt what their character is feeling! Yet, it is what puts you into their shoes-er, paws. It is the connection between a story and reality. My silly sense led me into having my perfect little kitten fall in love with a dark demon. Silly, indeed!
But she was no longer perfect. She snuck out at night to meet him, constantly deserting her Clan for this obsession of hers, this demon so different from her world. And a thus a theme started showing itself in Puresun that I still use today-her taste for uniqueness and abnormality, and her tendency to be drawn towards it.
She began to evolve. She was no longer so pure. But I pretended that didn't matter, and it worked (sort of, in my mind anyway)- until she met a spirit named Blood, who changed who Puresun was forever.
Long story short, he tried to possess her and got her pregnant. While I was typing up the interaction between the two, I felt an abhorrent feeling I don't like to think about- a similar fascination, but much more darker and evil. A twisted fascination with the idea of Puresun becoming pregnant- with her love's worst rival's children. A being so black and tainted that it far surpassed what Puresun's original concepts of evil were-and she had to bear that thing's children.
It was a dark, twisted, horror-movie-esque thing to think of! And I was ashamed for thinking it! But somehow- somehow- the obsession with the idea overcame my logic. I had to see what it would be like. I had to. And, in the end, it was rather idiotic and broke at least one rule- the physical probability of that ever happening!
The point is, I felt what would be the equivalent of Blood's character that day, and I find it rather uncomfortable to roleplay as him because I can feel his emotions when I write as him, and well, they're not pleasant! D:/
To move on with the explanation, then...Purepaw now found herself pregnant with the children of a rogue. I must note here that in her many a adventures with Forsaken, she became injured and he brought her to a twoleg home for some time to heal for a few moons, so although she may havebeen Purepaw, she was the age of a new warrior. This was quite a taboo, and little perfect miss Purekit was now faded into the past, overshadowed by the anguished, burdened, and confused new Purepaw. She bore her kittens in silence, though many suspected and likely knew.
They ended up being taken to the Order (since they were half-demons and were thus quite unstable). This was mainly a plot to get the kittens away from NightClan without having to pull Puresun out (I was very adamant about keeping her in her Clan), but I now realize it is quite unfair to other members to have this wild, dramatic story for one of my own cats and yet not allow such stories for our member's own hands to create. For that I apologize- I did not mean to pat myself on the back with that storyline, but I wasn't the best at forseeing consequences of my wild writing at the time. >> Griffonsea's story is similar in placing Griffon in a special sphere denied to other members ("ooo, leader's missing child, how sweet and awesome yay") ;_;"
And, in the end, I decided to have Puresun confess, to repent her sins and make up to her Clan. Her decision on doing so was so that she wouldn't be like other sinners and die clutching her secret (or have it wrenched from her and unburied). Though she had already birthed them in secrecy, she confessed, and earned her penance through her Clan's distrust. Still, I ended up glorifying her again- Puresun the martyr, Puresun the 'pure', if you will, once more trying to pull her into that false Purity I so desperately wanted her to have.
Of course, now I have little thought on how to RP her. She is supposed to be happy despite her troubles (perfect), but her troubles are so extensive that I often find myself writing her as depressed. My discord with connecting to Puresun is shown in the fact that I ceased to RP her in first person, feeling less and less connection to the broken cat.
However, though I feel deeply sorry for all the mess I've made with her-both on her storyline and the fact that demons now seem to suddenly exist in our Warriors story-I am, in a way, stuck with her. I could kill her off and end my troubles there, but that is not how one develops a character. One must chug on, however distant one grows with said character and how much passion one loses for them. Because in the end, I was able to talk with Trixie and plan out a good ending for her-not one that would glorify her, not one that would make her perfect-one that would make her happy.
And, in the end, it will make me happy, too.
Puresun has taught me that perfection is a myth, and also that no matter what, I should respect the fact that I have rules to follow too. Giving a character an awesome and exciting story is great and all, but it's not realistic. I need to let things happen as they happen within the sphere of the life I've placed my character. (I can just go to a fantasy roleplay for demons and angels and ghost and all that, besides.) I need to remember who and where my characters are and what limits their lives contain as such. She also taught me that silly sense that exist between writers and their characters-and it is important to pay attention to it! When I felt my silly sense connect to blood, it was such a wrong, wrong feeling, and it should have tipped me off that it was a bad idea. But I ignored it, and now I honestly and truly regret ever making that happen. But I'm not going to try and wipe it away under the table-nope. That was my mistake-and Puresun's. But mostly mine.
In sum, Puresun will forever remain my oddball, my one character in the bunch who just never fit into the warrior world simply because of how perfect and awesome I tried to make her. That is my punishment.I must carve out that happy ending for her-not forcefully, but logically-so that I can repay her what I put her through in order to make her da extremist perfect angel in da wuuuurld. I hope she can find her happy ending-but, seeing as how NOTHING about her has gone to plan, maybe that, too, will change.

- Creeper the Cat(-puppet)

I just want to take this space to mention that this is a thread more for my own speculation to be shared. I honestly don't want to flaunt my characters around as being awesome-in fact, they have a lot of flaws.
This thread was made to help other writers, specifically of Warrior-themed RP's, and not to show off how awesome I or my characters are. I honestly don't think mine are any better than yours. In fact, I love analyzing other characters in this roleplay to see their similarities and differences /nerdtime
And your characters inspire some of the changes that I put into place in mine! So we're all just a big pan of inspiration! ;D

Taking this time to post that announcement thinger about Puresun being 'single' now.

Like I said, be very careful, lol. There is a negative cloud around her for a reason. She'll be a nice mate (I'm trying to be a bit modest, not gonna say "SHE'S DA BESTEST MATE EBAH" ), but it's going to end quite surprisingly for the both of them. :B
In this way of not telling you, I am exploring that aspect of reality where you don't know what's going to happen...it's an important part of roleplaying to be able to respond to that ;D As I have learned ;w;"

ANYWAY, either your cat makes his move or she chooses someone. In any case, sheeee's a lookin!

I read everything you posted and I was very interested. I had no idea that was how you felt about Puresun. When I first joined this rp, I was only told that Purekit was the main kit in Nightclan...and I guess what I was told was correct.

But getting back to this, Puresun reminded me of this quote I heard. I don't know how it goes, but I know it goes along the lines of "The most innocent of children can be easily corrupted by the wickedness of the world" Something like that. I am now stuck; I want to know how Puresun will act now...

Will she still be the same? Or more independent?

Haha, thank you!
I was pretty active back then, but I don't think she was really the focus until she started getting involved with Forsaken. Then it was usually "Where's Puresun", etc., but the funny thing is most cats accepted or didn't notice her disappearance. xD I just say that people noticed her absence when, in fact, most of the time, nobody pursued her or caught her, or attempted to catch her. It might have been because I was VC or just because they didn't know what else to do. On certain occasions I would say to not stop her or interrupt her, but most of the time she was open to be caught. ;w;" It's another thing I realize I need to be more clear about, in any case.

My own realization and reflection on what exactly I was doing as a writer before now has helped me move on as a writer; and it will likely be reflected in Puresun. A sort of liberation from an unknown hindrance that's been tied to you without your knowing (and I was the person who tied it to her). Initially, there won't be much change, but she's slowly going to see it for herself and make a decision. I've had my realization before she has ;D

Of course, her ending is also going to depend on what Trixie, Leo, and I decide, and the differences are large, but she will essentially end up as the same cat I now want her to be (I hope! StarClan knows she changes a lot xD ). As far as no spoilers go, saying she's going to become more independent is the best answer I can give. ^^

Yay!~ I'm right about one thing, and wow. I didn't even know Puresun could have that kind of affect on u O-O, so awesome! I wonder if that's happened to anyone else ahahahaha XD

So this is a another mystery I'm just going to have to be patient with, eh? I guess I can do that, but I'm not one of the patient types...

And I agree about the being whole VC kind of thing with Puresun. I mean, I was to scared to even approach Leo because I thought I'd screw up with my post infront of her, you too. And...it was my first time with roleplaying back then when Puresun was still a kit. I mostly relied on Neko who stuck to you guys like glue XD

I've made my character system quite complicated xD" Essentially Puresun is just a symbol/metaphor for something relating to me/my life. Not that I've ever been possessed by a demon! ;0;"

Oh dear, that's not the kind of attitude we try to exude at all D: We try to be open and willing to help members along. I myself am just a really passionate writer. I've had people tell me they feel daunted by my paragraph posts before, but I would only try to encourage them to RP with me and improve their knowledge of words/stuff like that too ;w;" And there are writers/RPers much bettah than me out there that also intimidated me, but it was those kind of RPers that helped me improve my RPing skills.
( Sumomo is one of them u kno. ;D )
It's a process...but I'm sorry we made you feel nervous, we'd never make fun of you or treat you unfairly xD If you messed up we'd let you know & understand it :B

I'd like to say something. It's quite funny and strange. When I first saw the name Puresun I was all like. 'Who's Puresun? Is this a new member? How come I didn't know!?' And then I found out Puresun was a cat. I always thought the name was pronounced. Pures on. Like Person. But then I told myself. 'Oh it's PureSUN not Pures on, it's a cat of Timber's' I didn't know, I always thought it was Pures on, because I hadn't known she was a cat yet.

Quite interesting Timber.
Back when I still had Slasher, I used to think that this was going to end badly considering Foresaken was a demon and Puresun was still a cat.
Nonetheless, we all seemed to go with it. However, I had not met her until she was found in the twoleg nest.
It was quite an interesting twist to the story.
I have to say, when I first started reading it, I was like. "Yeah! That's how I do my rps! You feel what your chara is feeling!"
And then by the end I was like: "Aw. Danm."
Lol. I have to say, Puresun was quite an incredible cat.
