Nuan, the type of city that ended with one of several things happening. Boredom, retirement, or some value information gathered. For Jonas it was the latter of the three. He was far from boredom since his latest amount of intel gathering ending in a bar fight and he sported a bruise on the right side of his face as if it was nothing.
He was also the type of guy that rather die then retirement. The valuable information was coming in about Hraapea so much lately his little notepad was starting to run out of extra pages.
His mind however was focused on his current situation. He sat with his notepad open doing math on his current financial situation. His funds were starting to make him wonder if he should pack it up for this week.
A few swords and maybe something special and he'll be back bribing for information; enjoying a few good bar fights, and back to enjoying some "less maintenance" women.
His eyes lifted to look from his pad to look around the barren street. He was alone at the moment leaning on the side of a abandon building thinking things over. He really wanted to sell something he could always go to his forsaken childhood home and see if anything was left from the looters over the years.

Chandra had just finished at the market and was holding a paper bag full of a selection of fruit and veg. Although Rishima seemed to eat most things she did tend to favour the more earthy creations of fruit and veg over meat. It was't a problem but meant hat Chandra needed to go to the store every few days to ensure they where nice and fresh rather than days old and past their best.
Now she was trying to find the fabric store. During the 'low' periods of her work she had started to sketch out designs for a few outfits that would love beautiful on her daughter an would have the added bonus of covering up most of her 'oddities', they really didn't matter to Chandra now but part of her wanted to show her little girl off to the world. She was still trying to come up with a reason for the red mark upon her forhead but figured that a excuse about it being a 'cultural' thing may make most neglect asking more. After all it was obvious from the kimono that Chandra wore that she was of a different culture to the general population.
Sighing she looked around the practically empty street for any signs of what she was looking for, it was early morning and most of the stores where only just opening. It was strange to be around so early considering her last patient had only given birth six hours ago and Chandra really should have been in bed. Yawning softly she pulled a piece of paper out. On one side she had drawn a map to get her from the market to the fabric store and on the other side was written the address. "Great...." she mumbled, "...now I can't even follow my own directions." She turned the piece of paper around a few times and scanned the area trying to get her barings. After several moments she raised a hand to her temples and rubbed softly. "....why do I always seem to manage to get so lost?" She sighed and tried once more to figure out where she was.
"It's useless..." she declared after several long moments and instead tried to look around for someone who may be able to help her.

Jonas gave a annoyed sigh as his numbers kept coming up awkwardly. He wanted to pull out his receipts and go throw everyone to get it right. Finally deciding he'll look at it when he got to the inn he stuffed it quickly into his back pocket of his slacks as he did his usual fixing of his cloths. The one open button; and the straightening of his shirt, and the usual sweep of his eyes where he looked on a curious being.
As he watched her he was silent as he studied her for a moment. The first thing that caught his eyes was her clothing, it was highly unusual for any city. Although it was highly attractive on her, then their was the horn and wings. They didn't seem like a costume in the least. He knew that she wasn't human in the least and he knew she wasn't a Hraapea either. She didn't fit the 'requirements' that he had been able to compile to file someone as a hraapea.
He watched with an amused smile as she flipped the piece of paper over several times. She was either lost or was unable to read. Finally hearing her voice from the distance he was impressed at the sound. He laughed silently to himself, another day with another beautiful women in need of assistance. He pushed himself off the wall and walked over to her. He intentionally put on a non-threatening pose as he made his way to her a warm smile on his face. "Nothing ever useless ma'am. Just minimal results." He said smiling as he stopped at a comfortable distance.
"Is there a way I can be of assistance?" He said smiling at her.

Chandra sighed softly and reached absentmindedly to play with the strap for the four costume wings she wore on her back. She began to look at her map once before. She really wanted to scream, or even curse but was resisting. Closing her eyes in frustration she tried to calm herself. It wasn't like it was the first time she was lost nor would it be the last.
Suddenly Chandra jumped, a voice. Her eyes shot open and she looked directly at the the figure that had spoken to her. Almost charming blue eyes looked at her, they where smiling and she could clearly see the laughter lines that surrounded them. They seemed kind enough, and as her view of him looked away from them she noted that the owner was a man much taller than herself with dark hair and what appeared to be a trench coat on. It was a little plain for her liking but then again her eccentric style wasn't exactly for everyone.
"Well you obviously have never met my sence of direction then." She smled softly before adding with a pretend puzzled look on her face, "Actually... nor have I. I think it got lost trying to find me. Lord knows I am forever getting myself lost so it only makes sence I guess."
She sighed softly and took one last look at her home drawn map before spinning it over to reveal the address. "You wouldn't happen to know...." she turned the piece of paper towards him so he could read it, "....this place? I am trying to buy some new fabric to make some new kimono's but I appear to be lost."

Seeing the woman suddenly jump he held a laugh as he finally saw her wings. They were actually fake from the strap, still the horn though. As he kept his gaze with her and he could guess what she was thinking of him. Jonas gave her a slight shrug as he listened to her, it wasn't like this city was so hard to get lost in. Although it was pretty easy to lose your direction of you take a short cut.
He gave her a warm smile back at hers. "I seen people with worse. You obviously made it to one of your locations." He said making a motion toward her bag as he leaned forward to look at the piece of paper.
He read it over and thought it over. He actually had to stop their to get his shirt patched up when he had been a guard. "Yes I know the place. I can take you if you want." He said nodding his head.
"I'm Jonas by the way." He said giving her a slight bow. "I would kiss your hand but their currently full.

Chandra smiled and tightened her grip a little at the paper bag she held full of food. "That is true. But I guess the smell of food is something that aided that feat." She said with a slight giggle.
"Oh.... you do? That would be great." She said with a smile. As she adjusted her bag she spoke in her usual chirpy almost sing song voice, "Name's Chandra Miakoda. Its nice to meet you Jonas."
She smiled at his daring to try and charm her. "...no need for a kiss -its not like I am of importance or anything anyways. Isn't it only royality you are suppose to do that to?." She said stuffing the piece of paper away in her pocket before holding her her hand so she could shake his if he wanted.
After a short while Chandra asked with a soft smile and a chuckle, "So..... which way good sir?"

"I know what you mean." He said smiling as a memory of his guard days flashed to him, lost in the woods not having eaten in days and coming across a rotting cattle. Was the best steak he ever tasted. He just gave a slight laugh, a inside joke.
"Yes I used to live here a long time ago..." He said still keeping a smile on his face despite his past with this place. If he really thought about it he would wish to burn the whole city down.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Chandra."
He gave a slight shrug at what she said. He was raised old fashion, and around the saying "For god and the ladies" but he'd usually keep that saying to himself. "Sorry, I was raised old fashioned by the guards."
By the guards he said, he haven't used that word combination in so long it tasted like water down gin. Disgusting until you get something that tasted worse water down.
"Right this way madam." He said walking forward, "It's a nice little walk."

"You used to live here?" She asked with a smile, "I only recently moved here myself... so it will probably take me... oh, at least five more years to figure out the basics." She giggled softly, and took in a deep breath. She loved how fresh the air was here, much nicer than the much busier city of Aerr. Chandra actually prefered the peace and quite.... of course that often meant less work for her, but with her daughter around that was fine.
"Ok," she chirped and began to follow him.
Chandra would usually have made a comment about him calling her 'miss' but decided that it wasn't worth it. Especially since he seemed to be almost remember a time long ago, and perhaps he was right in a way.... there was nothing wrong with tradition or things old fashioned, after all her own family had its share.
WAIT! She stopped suddenly in her tracks. Recalling her family and the time she had watched them opening their little cafe brought back memories.... memories of a man that looked similar to this man, but younger... could it be? Unable to resist asking she blurted out, "Have you ever been to Aerr? To a little cafe called 'Wings of the Moon'?" Her father had once been in the military, but it wasn't something he ever spoke of to her so she knew very few details about it. When the cafe had first started collegues of his would drop in -most would scorn him for his unhonorable discharge, but it was something that Chandra was proud of him for. He hadn't abused his power like others often did. It was one of the reasons why Chandra usually avoided them. That and the fact that she was 'different' and those of difference where hunted, plus with her new precious gift, her daughter, she could not risk it.
Chandra watched the man as she waited for his reply. Would it really make a difference if he had been there? It wasn't as if the cafe wasn't popular.... but.... to Chandra it really did seem to make a difference. Of course if he had been there he probably wouldn't have recognised her, after all she had been much younger, her hair usually swept back into a bun and her kimono either white or all blue. Her horn hadn't started to grow until she had reach the age of fifteen so it was also unlikely she had had one at the time either. Not that 'differences' had been frowns upon then.

"Yes when I was younger...then something came up and I had to move to the guards barracks in Aerr." He said his smile disappearing before a smaller one came back on his face. "I see. Well at the rate I'm going I might still be visiting here every other week till I get kick out." He joked, if that did happen he would find out how ironic it was to be kicked out just like his father did.
Jonas walked with his hands behind him and his trench coat open. It was the type of day that something like this was optional but in Aerr he probably would die of a heat stroke.
As he suddenly heard the end of walking behind him he stopped and turned around to look at Chandra with a confused look. The sudden fact she was looking at him so hard made him utterly confused at what she was thinking. If she was trying to compare him to a criminal she was going to come up short.
At the sudden question of him been to Aeer and the mention of a cafe. "I live there in Aerr." He said lifting an eyebrow at hte mention of Wings of the Moon. "Yes, I used to visit it often when I was still a guard. A ex-general owned it. He probably saved my life a couple times, I stopped going after I was forced out." He said shrugging it off. The guy was younger then him by a few years but Jonas was trying to go a different route. The highest position possible was what he wanted and being a general would take that away. Being forced ruined and he hit the bottom. No job or way to get money, it was a rough year.
As he looked at Chandra he drew a blank at why she might ask him this. It was just so random and out their he didn't understand it fully. Just the fact he hadn't been their in years didn't help him in remembering.

There was something suddenly so sad about Jonas's that it made Chandra feel bad, what had happened in his past that tormented him so? It was a look that she oftened caught on her fathers when he felt no one was looking, it was almost longing, almost.... something missing.
Yet her thoughts changed direction completely as he spoke of living in Aerr. She wanted to cry, yet she didn't fully understand why. Before her was yet another example of her fathers kindness, he had saved this mans life. It made her proud to be a Miakoda, but she wondered if her father had once gone by another name since Jonas hadn't commented or appeared to reconise it, or maybe he just knew Maion by another name. After a short while she smiled softly and looked up from the ground to the now familar blue eyes of her companion. "My father," she begun her smile growing slightly larger as she spoke. She really was proud of both her parents, they had formed a business out of nothing and overcome the harshness of the world. "....he and my Mother own that cafe. I...."
Wiping her eyes swiftly so not to cry and make a fool of herself, she started to walk once more and continued at a slow pace in the direction they had been heading. She decided not to continue what she was originally going to say about believing she had seen him before there and so said something different instead. "You should stop by again, I am sure you would like it. It has changed a bit recently."

Jonas watched her silently, his face was calm but it still had a few hints of what he was feeling. A career, life, and a different future just ripped out from him just to avoid someone else getting in trouble. When he get a hraapea however...then he'll fix everything. He'll create the perfect soldier; tactician, and predatory animal. His musing over his dream always covered that he was a lonely old man who really wanted someone that loved them...or at least fake it.
As he saw the frown on her face he forced a slight smile, the first one he done yet with her. She probably knew that look from somewhere.
"I see...at the time when I was under him I had been a captain for a while. I could of went the general route like him but I didn't want that." He said smiling, it was a story her dad would probably thank him for telling if he had bad relations with his daughter. "First time we meet our views were different. Well I got a special order to hunt down a dangerous halfie. It would of got me a big mention if I had of accepted it but he game me a waste of my time kind of order. I did as I was order found out the later that same weak that halfie had killed a group of mercenaries that were much more able then me. All they wanted me for was fodder for a trap." He said shaking his head. At that was when he just made officer and was so dedicated he started to lose his own personality. Well that didn't matter if he was dead.
As he looked at the girl he started to realize who she was now. "Your one of his little girls. You use to run back and forth working." He said starting to walk beside her at the same pace as her.
Jonas lifted a brow at seeing her wipe her eyes quickly. She wanted to talk about something else he guessed but he let it go. "I might just do that. My shop shouldn't be to far from it. Since I been gone I bet it has. I wonder if that old dog still has his old tricks." He said laughing. "Your lucky to have a father like him. And he's lucky to have a daughter like you. I'm glad he took the chance and got what was really important in life."

[[As a Child Chandra had blue hair like her mother, but no horn. That started to grow later.]]
"I see....." She said, not really understanding most of what he was telling her. Her father never told stories of that time of his life, believing that he had no need to dwell on the past since he had such a wonderful family. Chandra really did love them all, it had been one of her driving reasons for wanting a family of her own one day. She had always enjoyed noise, big families.... and well, she had lots of love to give and before Rishima she had no one to give it to.
Chandra actually had no idea what a 'dangerous halfie' was, so decided to move away from that and to his other comment. "Yeah I am, my sister is called Io and my brother Mal. His wife is Sengdroma." She said with a smile. It was an inside joke but herself and her siblings had been gifted names that meant 'Moon' in some way, it was a tradition she had continued with Rishima, after all her name meant 'Moon beam' and that was exactly what she was to Chandra. Her light in the dark. Her hope. "I think..." she started to say as she recalled that day in more detail, "...that when I saw you I was simply on duty to collect and tidy the menu's. I was too small to do much else." Not once had she complained about her work at the cafe, not even when it had been her turn to clean the toilets. It all neded to be done, and as a family they did it together.
"Oh..." she said a little surprised, "You own a shop? What kind?" Something told Chandra that his shop would be anything but 'cute and cuddly' a supply store or weapons smith or something was likely to be more fitting, afterall Jonas seemed very attached to his military past, and part of Chandra wondered if that was all he knew. Not the laugh of his child, or the hold of a woman he loved. She felt sorry for him if that was the case.
"As for my father," She said with a smile as she spun around, "Of course he is lucky." She gave Jonas a playful wink before placing her free hand on her hip while she readjusted her grip on her shopping. "As for his tricks, he certainly does. I heard they have several new recipes that I have yet to try and learn myself." She smiled, cooking happened to be on the things she was trying to teach Rishima.

He gave her a simple nod as he listened to her. Jonas didn't really keep in touch with any of his "brohters". They were mainly dead or fat and happy in some position. He obviously avoided the first and the second he might get if he can make this Hraapea goal work.
"Wow, three kids and a wife." He said looking off picturing himself with that. The "family" Jonas came up so weird to him. He had pictured having a wife and kids but that was long gone. He was happy just having a friend stay the night. "I do recall you were small...if you don't mind me asking why move to Naun if all your family is located in Aerr?"
He gave a small smile as a thought popped in his head that he highly doubted, "Let me guess, you got a Hraapea." He said at his inside joke. He figured she wouldn't get it if she hadn't of heard any of the rumors.
"Ahy, a weapon shop. Well I do do some side work, training, some light metal work, and poetry to burn some time when I'm bored while the shop open." He gave a slightly embarassed smile at the mention of poetry. No one would expect someone like him to write love poetry or poetry in general. However sitting in a shop can get highly boring.

"Huh?" She said a little confused as to why he had asked why she was now in Nuan. Alot of people tended to visit here and move from the larger city. Of course she had come here way before she knew of the exsistance of Hraapea so she was honest with her answer, "I moved here because there is a lack of midwives... thats what I do for a living," she said with a smile. She had always been proud of her profession.
Then he said something that suprised her, how did he know of the hraapea? Before she had met Amerald she had known nothing of the exsistance, she had merely gone to his store in search of fertility herbs. Granted what she got was much better.
Due to her profession Chandra had always been very good of not showing it when she was shocked or afraid, after all doing so usually only led to stressing the mother out which often led to more complications. Amerald had told her not to tell anyone and to protect her child -which was something she planned to do without any hesitation. "Whats an Hrrrapaea?" She said, looking a little confused as she watched him.
As he talked to her of his store and hobbies she found herself giggling slightly. "Poetry hey.... I bet you are pretty good." She was quite use to two things that didn't seem to go on the surface matching perfectly. Her parents where a good example, as was her fathers previous life with his new one. Things just sometimes had a habit of joining in the most unexpected of ways.

Jonas gave a slight smile at her confusion. "Umm sorry if that seemed so weird. Normally people your age hate places like this and move toward the big city." He said as he tilted his head at hearing her profession. "Your a midwife? That's something that scares me more then a Snapper hound." He said smiling knowing it was the truth. He had seen all kinds of death and been able to keep a calm stomach. Although seeing afterbirth might be worse then he thought.
His trained eyes didn't catch any signs of what Chandra might be thinking of his question. If she knew information he would of gladly took it. "A Hraapea is from what I gathered is a being that is genetically made. From what I been able to gather they are in all ways better then us. Stronger, faster, smarter, and more beautiful. Their a combination of birds and humans, I don't know how but they are. I actually meet one. She was a full grown adult and the most beautiful woman I ever seen." He said as he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his notepad and offered it to her.
The notepad was full of conversations, rumors, and random information from Nuan to guess at their creator. On a few pages were a strange training schedule with things ranging from studying to combat styles also ending with nutritious meals.
"I see her eyes as they stare into me I taste her lips as I steal a kiss I feel her heart as I pull her close I smell her scent as she lay against me I hear her breathing as I watch her sleep I felt the could touch of death as he took her away"
As he spoke his poem his eyes zoned out toward the distance lost in some thought that came up as he spoke. His voice carried a off sound at one point it had a slight small quiver that disappeared quickly. "I'm not a professional but it's good enough to keep me from getting bored." He said giving a small smile.
