"Cobblestone?" A woman with bright red hair stumbled forward. It had been a time for her evening walk and she had gone out. Daydreaming and as usual irresponsible, her feet had wandered. Beneath her feet she could feel the hard curves of the stone. More than one she had slipped, unaccustomed to change of terrain. Then a memory resurfaced. 'The rich people like rock.' A grim mouth had once told her. Rich people?
Scarlett scowled at the simplicity of the thought. Those with more money had ruined her family's business, she could only hope they wouldn't hurt her's. Orange eyes darted about the stone and fancy houses, clearly money had gone into this area. The rich district of Nuan. As a resident of the town, she was well aware that a specific amount of land went to those families with money. "What, is this their summer home?" Scarlett's face was terse, taunting almost, about the heat that often fell upon Aerr. But Korr's cooler. She kept that thought to herself, knowing that she had fled from the city due to the stench of fish.
With a sigh the woman shook her head, sending her mostly-straight red hair fluttering. She tried to clear her thoughts and imagined the path she had taken. Nothing but a grunt. So absorbed with the issues of the day, she had forgotten everything. Out of frustration, the tempered woman kicked a misplaced stone, not caring about the direction it soared.

Chandra often walked through the higher end of Nuan, mainly because people didn't tend to follow her there and would often just assume her eccentric look was because she had money or something. It was quite the opposite, Chandra's family run a little cafe that was quite popular but that was her parents wealth not her own. Instead Chandra dedicated herself to becoming a midwife, earning every penny she earned -of course she did it for reasons other than money. She loved children. Always had and always would.
Recently she had been gifted her own little bundle of joy, Rishima had been a shock at first- her differences where obvious and stood out. Yet with a lot of tailoring it seemed Chandra had managed to disguise most of her daughters obvious oddities, the only one she had been able to do anything about was her taloned feet -so they often said it they where merely shoes, a play thing that Rishi refused to take off. It had worked so far, but Chandra tried not to take Rishi into busy areas. Yet another good reason for passing through this district on the way home. "Rishi," she chirped with a smile as she looked to her daughter, "hold onto that tightly, ok?" They had just gone to buy food supplies so that Chandra could teach her daughter how to cook, afterall what Miakoda didn't like to cook?
Rishima looked at her mother with a delicate serene smile, "I will." She beamed excitedly as she glanced into the paper bag she was holding and spotted the item known as 'chocolate' once more. Her Mother had allowed her to taste some in the store and she had to admit she was looking forward to more.
Then as Rishi looked back up she spotted someone else in the street, a little paniced she reached out and clung to her mothers arm. Since they had been brought together she had known that her mother would never let anyone harm her.
Chandra reacted immediatly to her daughters obvious unease as she scanned the area ahead and spotted easily what had spooked her. Although Chandra had never made big deal about her differences she knew her daughter was anything but stupid and that being detected would mean trouble for both of them- after all Chandra wouldn't go down without a fight. As they approached Chandra heard the woman speaking to herself leaving her with two options. 1) Comment. 2) Leave her alone.
Being the social creature that she was Chandra reached over to hold her daughters hand as she spoke happily to the woman in the street. "You know..." she started, a soft smile on her face, "...some consider talking to yourself a bad sign. Its a good job I'm not one of them." She winked playfully before offering her free had. "My name is Chandra, and I hope you don't mind me saying -you look a little lost. Are you ok?" Chandra never meant anything bad by her words, she didn't know where the girl 'belonged' and hd assumed that she most likely lived in on of these houses. But there was something about the redhead that seemed to scream out to her 'I need help'.... and so here was Chandra, offering it.

Scarlett's mood was already rather negative due to the way in which she had misplaced herself. So absorbed in muttering to herself she had not noticed the odd woman approach. Gazing at the darkening sky above she stuck her tongue out at it childishly. The voice beside her make her choke. Hacking, the red-head spun around, blanching at the fact that she had been seen. "A-umm... Hi!" Trying to recover from the blunder. Eagerly she plastered on a smile and shook the woman's hand. Scarlett was a short woman, so in comparison to the one before her, she looked like a teenager. "I'm not crazy, for the most part." She said with a light giggle.
"It's nice to meet you Chandra, I'm Scarlett." Sheepishly she looked about, not recognizing many areas. But her pride stood strong. "N-no, not lost. Just... off-course." Her brow scrunched at her choice of words, Wow, nice way to put it. Hoping for a way to change the subject, Scarlett studied the woman before her, suddenly finding the small child.
The red-head nearly flinched, not realizing that child had been there for so long. "Aww, and you are?" Orange eyes fell upon the black-haired girl. She seemed so delicate and beautiful, like a youthful flower that had just bloomed. Scarlett gave her a kind smile - not the type that generally scares children away. Eyes intent on a means of switching the topic away.

Chandra shook Scarletts hand before releasing it and simply watching her, she seemed so... well childlike, that Chandra wondered how old she was and if something was wrong. There was nothing wrong with being childlike sometimes of course, Chandra like to indulge in costumes after all -although that was for other reasons also. She felt her daughters grip tighten on her arm so Chandra softly reached over with her free arm and stroked her softly. "I know that feeling..." Chandra chuckled as Scarlett explained that she was simply 'off course', "I tend to be very directionally challenged myself. I once found myself standing at the edge of a river with a map, miles away from the location I was meant to be - turns out it was just next door to where I had started." She beamed happily s she continued to stroke her daughter.
Rishima didn't really like much attention from those she didn't know and so she just buried her nose into her mothers sleeve.
"This is my daughter Rishi," Chandra chirped proudly, "...she is a little shy though I'm afraid."
"Home... home...." Rishima said as she pulled on her mother's sleeve again.
"In a moment little one," Chandra said before watching the red head a little more, "....well you may not be lost, but you do look a little cold. How about we take you more off course? If you wish you can join me and Rishi for a drink and a buscuit?" It was rare that Chandra took anyone home these days, she always treated her home as a safe haven for Rishima and the other hraapea that visited from time to time. But there was.... something.... about Scarlett that just made Chandra want to help her a little. Maybe it would be her ay to pay forward the kindness that Amerald had showed her when he had gifted her a child of her own.

Scarlett frowned and looked away from the girl, looking back at the tall blue-haired woman before her. In reality, Chandra was actually the younger woman, Scarlett having recently turned 24. All the same, Scarlett acted younger than she was when faced with an embarrassing situation.
As the girl was introduced, orange eyes trailed back down to her, and she gave the girl a soft smile. She didn't want to further the young one's discomfort. "Hello Rishi." She cooed gently, then turned back to Chandra. "She seems quite sweet." Scarlett said sincerely. Growing up with younger siblings she was both used to, and was kind to children. In most cases she could manage to deal with them.
It was the woman's offer that perked her interest. For a moment pale pink lips tightened into a line. She had been wandering for god knows how long - the Alto Inn was unattended. But still, Scarlett was always looking for more opportunities to make friends. Eyes thoughtful for a moment she gave a quick nod, "I'd love to." The mention of food reminded the woman of her bodily needs. A low grumble crept below the conversation, much to her embarrassment. "But I can't stay long. I need to attend to my Inn in a little while."

Rishima looked at her mother and frown but said nothing, she knew better than to ask what was on her mothers mind. She was an impulsive woman but Rishima trusted her completely.
Chandra nodded to Scarlett softly, "Sure." She gave her daughter a quick little squeeze before starting to walk once more, "...this way then everyone." She chirped softly, a soft skip in her step as she led them back to her ground floor appartment home that was not too far but in a much poorer area. Chandra had fallen in love with the place because of the view of the park behind it, she loved hearing children play -and before Amerald and Rishima she had been alone and unable to have her own.
"Do you have children?" She asked Scarlett casually as they walked.
Rishima held her mothers hand tightly, no longer tucked into the fabric of her kimono, her ears peek up at the idea of other children after all most children liked to play and Rishima was no exception. "Children?" She said as she looked up at her mother with asoft smile peeled upon her lips, her other hand squeezed the paperback softly, "....cook?"
Chandras eyes darted to her daughters and lit up as she spoke, part of her really wished that she could take Rishima to play with other children but outside of the hraapea community it was impossible for long. She simply wouldn't risk losing her daughter. "Maybe," she said with a smile.
