Chandra got lost A LOT, it was just one of those things she had learnt to accept over the years. That said it never stopped surprising her just how lost she could manage to get herself without even trying - God only knew what she could do if she actually tried! She had not been living in the town of Nuan for very long, and today she had merely been attempting to find a few essential stores, a tailor, a market, and maybe even a pub for socialising. Yet so far all she had found was a street corner, a tree and some gum that got stuck to her shoe... not exactly inspiring. The streets just seemed to look the same to her, and that paired with her obviously strange appearance made things.... interesting. It seemed most of the people of Nuan where avoiding her leaving her with little room to ask for directions. On her back she had strapped four beautiful feathered wings, upon her head she wore a headband with two more feathered wings. Her kimono was dyed silk, and embroidered with silver stars and stripes of blue for a dash of colour. It was probably shorter than most would find acceptable, but that was an essential feature for Chandra since she liked to run and play and long garments simply didn't allow for such things. The only part of Chandra that would actually get her in trouble if discovered was the silver horn that had been growing from her forehead since she was a child. All in all Chandra appeared rather ....odd! "Ok," she pouted as she looked left and right down the crowded street, "...surely I can't be that lost?" Her nose picked up the delicious scent of herbs and fried meat indicating that hopefully some sort of meeting place resided nearby.... all she had to do was find it. Simple enough? Hopefully. Following her nose Chandra skipped off, the feathers of her costume fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

"Well that could have gone better..." Sera's voice moaned as she walked through the streets of Nuen. All in all, this trip to the woods and been a painful one. First she ended up giving some strange person her DNA. Now, she was dealing with having to re-do almost all of her design. Sometimes clients got on her last nerve but they would not be allowed to see her lose it on them. Money was too important.
Still, having to add three more waterfalls and half a dozen statues in a place where only six people could fit was a task. What did he expect? For the gods to walk among people and take a rest in his place? People with too much money...
Thankfully, he had wanted to keep the designs she brought so they did not have to be brought back to Arre with her. Now that only meant she had to stay awake long enough to get back home.
Easier said than done.
As she walked, Sera felt herself slowly start drifting in and out of thought. Before she knew it, an entire block had passed that she had not even seen. But her pace ended as quickly as she started for the nice appearance of a pillar sent her flying to the ground with a few choice words.

Chandra had been following her nose in the direction of the food when she had watched a stranger walk into a pillar and then fall flat on their arse. Instantly she sprang to life and ran towards the pretty blonde female that was now sprawled rather unlady like on the sidewalk. "Don't worry," she chirped, more to the girl than to those who had gathered around them, "I'm a nurse." As always her words where met with whispers and mumbling but soon enough most of the crowd dispersed, obviously dismissing the accident as nothing of interest. Slowly Chandra placed her hand upon the forehead of the other woman, a gentle smile ever present upon her lips as she went about her work. "Are you ok?" She asked with a slight tilt of her head as she examined the woman's arms and legs for any obvious injuries, certain that the only damage was likely only to only be the woman's pride she pulled her into her arms softly and began to fan her. "You took quite a bump to the head it seems. You really should look where you are going. Hitting your head hurts!" It was a silly thing to say, accidents happened all the time -after all that was why they where called such. But Chandra disliked silence and when there was one she often filled it with her own random comments.
It was a skill that often came in handy for her job, she wasn't a nurse exactly but a midwife, and as such usually worked strange hours with woman who where drugged up or in so much pain that a two sided conversation often proved impossible. Talking to yourself often came in handy.

"Whose bright idea was it to put a pole right in the middle of the street?" Sera snapped out before she suddenly heard the voice of another woman. Picking her up her head, it dawned on the half asleep woman that her eyes weren't even open. Well that had to be a site.
Finally snapping those big blues wide, Sera took in what was going on. There was no hiding it. She had just made a fool of herself in front of part of the city. Could this day get any worse?
It seemed it could. Some 'nurse' had come running to help her. Worse, she seemed to be a bit of a fruitcake at that. Nearly rolling her eyes at the comment, Sera looked over at the woman. "Why yes. Indeed it does. Thank you for informing me of that..."
But her voice trailed off as she looked at the girl. What on either was she? Wings, wings, and more wings. She looked like something that crazy Amerald would have in his show or her client would have on his wall.
Not that staring was nice but Sera was doing it, rather rudely.

"Yeah... sorry, I have a habit of that!" She said with a giggle as she helped the poor woman up. "My name is Chandra, Chandra Miakoda." She would say it was nice to meet her, but under the circumstances saying that just seemed, well, wrong.
Chandra was so use to getting stared at that it really didn't bother her anymore. Sometimes she found that only draw attention to her appearance snapped people out of their continual staring contest. "Don't worry, you're not dead and I am not an angel." She smiled softly at the woman who had stumble.
She took a step back from her and looked around, "You wouldn't happen to know your way around here would you?" Around her people continued to go about their buisness, and in all honesty confuse her. She could no longer smell the food though she was sure the aroma was still strong in the air. "I think you should sit down and have a cup of coffee or something, you look tired..... now...." Chandra said as she placed her hands on her hips, "If only I could find a coffee shop."

"I'm not sure if I should be happy about that or not." Sera moaned as she finally lifted on hand off the ground. Brushing the dirt on her pant legs, she ran the fingers lightly over her forehead. A bump had not formed but the skin was tender. With some luck, and some quick ice, she hoped that there wouldn't be any discoloring. How would she explain that?
Leaning her head to the side, Sera's eyes took in that attire. "Isn't it a bit out of season to play dress up though?" Okay, so she wasn't happy and this Chandra was a prime target. Heck, she didn't ask for a nurse to come save her. Given a few moments and she would have been back on her feet. But now she had just been asked for directions. What could she do? Lie?
Inhaling deeply as she looked down the road, the blonde gave a nod. "I have been here several times. One place a client of mine likes is a little shop down the road. I can show it to you if you need." Inside she was admitting to herself that a cup of black tea would help.
"But why in the world are you wondering around, Ms. Miakoda, without a sense of direction?"

((One handed typing and sleepy brain, sorry for any mistakes and lack of capitals))
Chandra similed, "Well, I am a midwife, a lot of my patients like my appeareance, it distracts them and usually entertains their older children should they have any. Originally I use to only wear the headband, it's a tradition of my family.... ok, maybe only when they are at work in my families cafe.... but.... well," she giggled softly, "I quite like being different!"
Chandra listened politely and then nodded softly in responce, "I would love that!" She chirped before stopping, staring and then sticking her tongue out her new companion, "Please do not call me that, Ms. Miakoda is my mother. Way too young for that title, granted I could be a hundred and still too young for it in my book. Please call me Chandra! Or Chan." She held out her hand with a smile, "It's nice to meet you, shame about the circumstances but that's life. Oh," she said with a sudden shocked look on her face that swiftly faded to a smile as she spoke again, "please forgive me, I never asked your name."
After a little while she looked left and right and then smiled once more at the woman before speaking once more, "Well, I will tell you about myself and my directional challenged self on the way to the cafe, Lord knows I could do with an Iced bun and a sit down."

One eyebrow went skyward when it finally dawned on Sera what this woman had just said. Not only was she dressed like a crazy person, she was a midwife? It took everything the young woman had not to turn and run for the nearest doctor to remove her ovaries. That's it! I'm never having children!
One can be different and not stand out like a sore thumb. Sera thought as she shook her head. Chandra was an interesting person but something clicked inside of her as she turned and started to walk back down the road she had come from. As a midwife, Chandra would be many different people. Most of those people would need additions to their home with the new 'bundle of joy.' That was where she came in...
"Sera Alexander." She said with a cold note in her voice. The working woman in her was already plotting as the smell of freshed baked good started to fill the air.
Pulling open the door, a warm feeling fell out as she stepped into the wooden room that served as a shop. "Help yourself, Chandra. First rounds on me. After all, I owe you for not making it more embarrassing."

Chandra followed the other woman with a slight skip in her step, she was pleased that she wouldn't be lost -at least for a little while- and wondered if she would be able to find this place again without aid again.
"Oh thats a pretty name," she commented lightly as Sera gifted her with her name. There was something in the way that Sera said it that made Chandra a little cautious about the other woman, there was hard cold edge to her voice and a note to it that said Sera was a woman very use to getting her own way.
Shrugging the feeling off as they arrived and where struck by the delicious scent of cakes and tea Chandra simply past Sera and smiled once more before looking at the counter, the woman had said the first round was on her but Chandra knew that the only way she would accept such 'charity' would be to repay her during the second round.
A plump little woman in a white apron approached her asking for her order, Chandra scanned the cakes once more before pointing to the iced buns. "An iced bun and an glass of orange juice please." She beamed before turning to her newest companion, "What about you Sera?"

Sera didn't know how to respond to the comment about her name. It was one of the few things she had kept since she ran away from home all those years ago. Surprisingly, no one had ever caught on just who her family was or questioned anything about her. It was a welcomed gift.
A smile would have to do for now as the time for words had passed. Walking up behind Chandra, Sera just smiled over the counter at the little woman. "It's good to see you again Maria. How is the family?"
The plump woman looked up and grinned. "Well, if it isn't dear old Sera! Have you finally come to claim my grandson for your own?"
Sera only rolled her eyes and sighed. "Not today. But I would love a glass of your black tea. Three sugars. And put her order on my bill as well."
Turning her attention back to the younger woman, Sera gave her an innocent shrug. "You can say they want him to see the world and think I can show it to him. I'm still trying to figure out who told them I was single."

Chandra watched as her new companion interacted so naturally with the plump woman who seemed to own the store. She was a little jealous of Sera, since Chandra had moved to Nuan she had made very few friends, and even less connections with other people tending to stay on her own lost somewhere. She sighed slightly but didn't say anything as she bowed her head in thanks as Maria brought placed their order on a tray. Chandra picked it up and carried it to a cute little table just behind them.
As the other woman explained about the grandson Chandra giggled softly, "It's cute! At least you know there will always be an offer ther for you should you want it."

Sera couldn't help but roll her eyes as she sat down across from Chandra. Everyone seemed to think so but in her mind, that was the last thing she wanted. Still with a sigh, Sera leaned back in the chair and attempted not to fall asleep sitting down.
"Frankly, I'll pass. Marriage is the last thing I'm looking for." Picking her head back up, the woman looked a little in wonder as Maria came and sat down her tea. The older lady eyed the new comer, shook her head and went back to work.
"But didn't you say you would tell me about yourself now? Why the..." Her hand went to mock the position on her own head. "Wings."

"Understandable." She said with a smile as picked up her iced bun and took a bite of it. "I must admit that men can be.... well, pigs sometimes." She sighed softly and watched her new 'friend' as the little plump woman Maria brought Sera tea. There was something kind about the womans eyes and it made her feel more comfortable sitting here.
"Ah... wings." She said with a soft giggle, "Well, my family is from Aerr. My parents opened a little cafe called 'Wings of the Moon'. I thought it was cute for the headbands. So well, we all wore them. Though I must admit I took it a bit futher with the whole wings on the back thing. I just like to be.... different." She said as she stirred her hot chocolate with a spoon. It was true she liked to be different, to stand out. In a way it made her somehow more invisable.
"I trained to be a midwife a few years ago and since then I have been moving around a bit. I came to Nuan because there is a shortage of midwives here. I assure you I am very good at my job." Depsite appearances Chandra was smart, and really enjoyed her job.
After a little while she looked up at Sera and asked with a slight tilt of her head, "Anything else you want to know? What about you?"

Well that all added up. Sera had never heard of that cafe but the name fit the outfit. Frankly, she was surprised the woman no longer worked there. Everything about how she looked an acted told her that Chandra would be a perfect hostess. Heck, even she might go there to see her just for the sake of the outfit.
But a midwife? Now those Sera wasn't too sure how she felt about. Things with them never added up. One of the big things was pain killers. Doctors always had them. Midwives, or at least the one she met before, did not. They were for the natural births.
Her last question made Sera grin slightly before taking a sip of her tea. "Not much to say about me. I'm a business woman, an Architect to be more truthful. That's about it."
Shrugging lightly as she eyed the girl again, Sera had to ask. "Why haven't you bought a map of the area? Or if you like, I can introduce you to one of my former clients. He lives here year round and really knows the area. I think he would be more than happy to help you out. Heck, even give you a job. Rumor has it that his youngest daughter is pregnant."

"Oh... an architect! Sounds interesting," she said with a smile taking a sip of her hot chocolate and yet another bite of her iced bun, she had to admit it was fresh and delicious. "Are you working on anything at the moment? I'm sure that's not all there is to know. What about your family? Where did you grow up? What brings you to Nuan at this time of year?" Chandra wasn't trying to be nosy, ok so maybe a little, but there was something about Sera that she liked.
At her next question Chandra couldn't help but giggled, "Well that be the logical thing to I suppose... buy a map." She smiled, "truth is... I like getting lost sometimes, you never know what will happen. That said..." She sighed slight, "...it can get annoying as well. If your friend wouldn't mind I would love to take you up on the offer."
As she mentioned a pregnant woman Chandras ears picked up, only yesterday she had gone on her rounds of her newly assigned patients and she wondered if this woman Sera spoke of was one of them. "Truth is, I work for an agency so its likely she is already on my list. We work in teams since sometimes labor can go on a long time..... and sadly complications can also occur." That was the main thing she hated about her job, losing the baby or the both or even worst both. She tried not to think about it as she took another sip of her drink.
