Every series I like has always had a Christmas special. Even out there in deep space, the crew must have celebrated some time. I wonder why there was never an RD Christmas special?

It might be to do with the fact that none of them are really set up to celebrate Christmas... I mean, Lister is, and I quote, "The ultimate atheist", Rimmer doesn't believe in religion, Kryten is an android and therefore Christmas probably wouldn't be wird into his programming, and can you imagine trying to convince the Cat to give gifts?!

...

Didn't think so. wink

But yeah; I'd have liked to have seen a Christmas special... 3nodding

Yeah- good point! Maybe it's better this way. They might have tried to get sentimental and sincere at the end of the show. That would blow a lot of people's minds in a bad way, including mine! LOL

That said, there's a lot of good programmes without Christmas specials. 3nodding

I don't think Red Dwarf would be the same with holiday fuss added in. We watch the show because of the predicaments that happen to them. I'd much rather watch them tackle a polymorph than Santa.

Thanks for the good read, Cloudskipper, I think that's a pretty accurate guess at what Christmas would be like for the guys. smile

While the comment about Lister is true enough he certainly is a fan of It's a Wonderful Life.

Lol, awesome fic...I already reviewed it though! Ah well.

And they don't necessarily have to celebrate Christmas...it could be like the Doctor Who special...evil alien things!

Well they could celebrate Clositer day or some such cat Holiday.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 20, 2006 10:05 pm

But would you really want to spend a holiday like christmas without your family? Granted Lister is his own father but somehow I don't think that really counts for the situation.

Well, I suppose they could spend time together now that Lister has found his mom. I'm not sure Cloister Day would cut it since Cat doesn't believe 'that stuff they taught in kitty school'
