I'm doing a research paper for school, and I was wondering if any of you would be willing to answer these questions for research purposes. You dont have to, and you can feel free to answer some but not others. Also, if you don't understand a question, just say so, and I'll explain.
How do you usually vote in elections?
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess?
What does "politics" mean to you?
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family?
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics?
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand?
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy?
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used?
How much should the government spend on national defense?
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think?
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think?
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think?
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think?
What is the best way to help the nation's poor?

How do you usually vote in elections?: I'm not old enough to vote.
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess?: Nope. I find out what I can about each of the parties and then I decide which I think is best, and hope they'll win. So far I've been right. (Bush may suck, but Kerry was worse.)
What does "politics" mean to you?: A bunch of people who debate over things that have already been discussed so many times I've lost interest. (I know it's not what politics are, but I myself don't know, so that's what I see it as, feel free to enlighten me.)
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family?: Nope.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics?: Because of the negitive view from the media, or at least that's what most people would say. I'm not sure myself. I've yet to learn about them.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand?: Pro-choice. In my opinion there is little other choice, it's the woman's body, and she's in charge of the child/fetus until it reaches eighteen, if she decides it's bad to come into the world, then it's up to her.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy?: I'm not sure, I think it's wrong for -no one- to have guns, but it's equally as wrong for everyone too, there should be a happy middle.
How much should the government spend on national defense?: Enough to properly defend us.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think?: I think that China is more important to us then we like to admit. Have you ever noticed how much stuff we get from them?
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think?: I think that other countries should do the same for us. We helped the Tsunami (sp) victims right after it happened. But after the hurricane and mudslides, did anyone help us?
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think?: I think that would be good. But I think it would be better if that applied to home schooling classes. (Not sure if it does or not.) What is the best way to help the nation's poor?: I wish I knew.
Sorry if that was stupid, or if I was completely talking out of my arse.

How do you usually vote in elections? I'm not old enough just yet.
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? No. I go with what I feel may be better for our country.
What does "politics" mean to you? I personally think it's having power to take control over many.
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? Only during election time, my mom will tell me about what's going on...other than that, it's a weak subject in my household.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? Because many people don't understand it.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? I stand against it unless the family is definitley unable to take care of the child when born e.g. income, living conditions, family size.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? Permits are necessary, and only to be used if needed.
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? ...???
How much should the government spend on national defense? Just enough to keep the soldiers well-equipped and taken care of, while still keeping our country in good condition.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? My opinion: The U.S. may be making [false] promises to China, and they still agree to trade with us. Or, The U.S. may be bribing them. China doesn't seem to like the U.S.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? We need help as well. If a disaster hits the U.S., I never hear of other countries aiding us. Unless the media has been keeping it quiet, since our local media doesn't tell us much about what's happening in the world now unless it's about a HUGE bombing/natural disaster, or the war in Iraq.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religious schools. What do you think? I think that would be good, especially to those who cannot afford to send their child to a good school.
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? I would like to know why. Is it because they want to scare them away from the U.S.?
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? If I had a good answer, I'd definitley say what it would be.

How do you usually vote in elections? Democratic.
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? Not really anything I'd like to talk about, no.
What does "politics" mean to you? Politics to me, is an excuse for rich people to parade around like they're important. That's all it's come to now. I mean, when America makes a law saying that in time of war your freedoms can be taken away... that's unconstitutional. What the hell do we have the ninth amendment for if they can take our rights away? It seems to me that the will of the people is completely ignored now.
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? Yes, and they were. We talk about politics almost every night.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? It's confusing and upsetting. People dont' want to hear about a court case that decides whether or not a woman can have an abortion. It's unappealing. A lot of people that I know think the government has too much control, and besides that they think that it doesn't do anything to vote. They think that, "Hey, what does it matter if I don't vote? I'm just one person." But that's not true. Every vote really does count.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? I believe it's up to the woman. If she can live with the knowledge of killing her child, then it shouldn't matter to anyone else. This is mostly influenced by the Christian Right, saying that God holds humans above all else and that abortion is immoral. That would only work if everyone were Christian, which they aren't. So, frankly, it's no ones business but the mothers.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? I'm not sure about that. Making guns illegal won't do much. If someone wants a gun they'll find a way to get it.
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? It should be used on our school systems, buying better supplies, books, computers... we should pay our teachers a hell of a lot more than we do. Tuition is rediculous for college. My local college runs about $20,000 a year. Education is the back bone of America, and the way things are now, it'll be taken out completely. It should also be spent helping the poor of America. Last I heard there were 2 million homeless children in California. That's only the children. That's only California.
How much should the government spend on national defense? I have no idea. I don't think America is in any eminant danger from other countries. I think other countries are in eminant danger from us.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? I think we need to take our business back to America. We need to spend time fixing what's broken here, and leave other people alone.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? I think the US Army being sent to other countries for security isn't bad. I think, however, that when we occupy a country and fight a war with them that we are in the wrong. Democracy hardly works here, how can we expect the rest of the world to want to adopt it?
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? A government voucher? No. I think if the government would give schools money again they wouldn't need such high tuition. If we've gotten to the point where you need virtual "food stamps" for college... that's just aweful.
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? I think that's stupid. If someone from another country comes here and is still close to their country of origin, kudos to them. Assimilation should be voluntary not manditory. Just because someone is faithful to their country doesn't make them a terrorist.
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? I don't know... that's a really tough question. There is no good way that I can think of to help the poor. The only ways I can think of are pretty extreme.
In responce to Aphiliam, many countries did try to aid us after the hurricanes. Most of them Bush told to buzz off. Mexico even tried to help us, and look at what we do to them. We were offered help, and we refused most of it.

How do you usually vote in elections? I can't Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? My parents. What does "politics" mean to you? I dunno. Diplomacy, important decisions, corruption. Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? No. We discuss politics sometimes. In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? They blame the government for their bad luck, the fact that they don't have as much money as they want, their low paying job, and the low quality of their sex life. On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? Abortion should be legal if both parents consent. If only one agrees to abortion they are exempt from raising the child. What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? Sure, have a gun. If you outlaw guns, then only criminals will have them. All people should be taught how to use them with caution. Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? To improve the general state of the U.S.
How much should the government spend on national defense? I really don't know, but not more than is necessary to DEFEND the country, instead of alloting money to rampaging around the middle-east. The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? Who else will make our Happy-meal toys? No, seriously. I think we should trade with whoever offers the best product,to a limit. I think trading with China is good. Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? We should focus less on trying to solve other people's problems and focus on our own. Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? Yeah, tha'ts good. It helps smart kids get into the schools they deserve instead of wasting their intelligence because they don't have enough money. In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? I don't understand. I think we should try to heavily limit immigration, but we should round people up based on race. What is the best way to help the nation's poor? I dunno. Enforce a working problem, and limit welfare, raise minimum wage for those over 18 and/or those with children.

How do you usually vote in elections? I don't have the right to vote yet, but I guess I'll vote for the one I believe is right.
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? No.
What does "politics" mean to you? Lies in style.
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? I don't like to talk about politics because it won't change a thing. Democracy is an illusion.. Untill the elections are coming.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? I don't understand what you mean by 'turned off'.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? I'm very strongly against it. I do think it's a murder.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? Hmm... Of course, one has to have a license for it.
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? I don't live in the USA..
How much should the government spend on national defense? As much as it needs. Security should not be taken easily. It's lives of people we're talking about.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? Well, the people who trade with china cares only about money, not really about those 12 years old kids working 12 hours a day in a factory for shoes.. On the other hand, if China would take care about the workers, there won't be any problem. Untill then, trade embargo won't help much, and I don't think it'll stand anyway.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? It's very nice of them. But not everywhere should they send their help.. Sometimes they are not welcomed. See 'Vietnam' for example, and 'Iraq' for another.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? Hmm.. Elemtary-high schools or colleges? 'Round here, these things are for free. It's actually the law to send the kids to school untill they have finished 10 years or so..
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? Well, they have something to count on, not letting strangers in, but.. I just think they should be careful.
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? Don't let them get there (poverty) and you won't need to help 'em out.

How do you usually vote in elections? Democratic.... its the only logical choice in this day and age.
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? No, what did influence me was debate. In HS I was on the debate team, I was a policy debater. It was so insightful, seeing all of the different evidence and different views on certain topics. Plus the debate tournaments were fun as hell!
What does "politics" mean to you? It means... the process in which the country is (badly) run.
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? I am from a staunch democratic family, we would discuss our hatred of Bush, the recent war, economy, and Congress.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? Because it is such a big grey area, people dont want to spend the time trying to learn all the ins and outs of it all... yeah, americans are generally lazy like that.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? Im pro choice. All the way!
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? Im not quite sure about that one. You see, I dont know much about it, therefore I am weary of taking a stance on it. I dont want to be like everyone else and just blindly choose something without the proper knowledge of the subject.
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? Hahahah!! SURPLUS!! xd Sorry, I havent heard that word since Clinton was president. Aaaah, what a laugh. Anyways, I think it should be used domestically. The US has failed to see that there are more problems at home than a broad. We are fundraising for starving children in Africa, but neglect the starving children here. You get what Im saying?
How much should the government spend on national defense? Uhm thats a tough question. I think we should spend more money on intelligence than defense. I mean, come on! 9/11 was totally preventable, its just that no one got it through their heads that intelligence was all f*#!% up. So I think the better intelligence we have, the better prepared we can be for later attacks.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? I think it shows how capatalistic America truly is. If we can save a buck on importing cheap clothes, or shoes, or any other sort of item of lesser value, then we dont care about little kids in sweat shops. The government likes to say that they crack down on those places, but thats just for PR purposes. We all know there are more that the US knows about, and what do they do about it? Nothing...
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? I think the US needs to stop being the world police. Actually, we just need to stop being the hegemon. Its time for the US to internalize its actions, help Americans here, we need it. All that money we spend on war and deployment of troops, its all unnecessary.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? I think that if the voucher will help children get a better education, the we should go for it. Americans sometimes fail to realize that education is the most important gift you can give a child.
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? Thats hard to say... I mean, America is founded on immigrants. So, to deny the very system that created this country is a bit hippocratic wouldnt you say?
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? Get better programs to help with housing and food.

I may be too late but.. here it is..
How do you usually vote in elections? I dont vote, I CAN cause im of the right age.. but I dont see any need. Right now I see that our government/ currently is too courrupt. I dont like any of the leading parties, im more of a socialist anyways..
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? Not really a specific person, but more like life in genral. I grew up in the backend of society, where at first I was of the richer class now im of the much poorer class. I suppose if it was anyone it would be my mother because ive seen the stuggles she has had to go through because of her eye sight.. and how the government treated her with not giving her benifits she deserved because of loop holes in the system.
What does "politics" mean to you? When I hear it, the word makes me sick to my stomach. But when thinking on it, I see it as being intelectual people that run our government to suite the needs of people. Of course.. this isnt usually the case, since you cant suite everyones needs..
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? Not really, I could see my family getting into whole hearted arguments over politics.. which is why no one brings it up.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? Simple, because politics are corrupt, they tend to split society in a whole because of their certain views that must be met. Which is why we are segergating into a rich, middle class society that wont accept the poor.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? Ahh.. this is a hard one, im acutally in between. See im religious.. so I believe that it is taking a life, I cant see how one person could say it isnt killing a life when you do so. I also think that it, in a sense, is a way of birth control. BUT I do think that there are cases, in which life threatening or cases with infertality (think thats the right word?) happen.. and I think that for those reasons it should be alright. None the less, if a women does decide to have an abortion she should think it over clearly.. not a 16 year old having sex with everyone in school and finds out she is pregrant and turns to that.. in the most part.. its her fault and I have no sympothy with those people.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? For freedom of choice I think people should be allowed guns, but not all types, like a house hold doesnt need a machine gun.. thats just silly..
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? To help shealters, like the katrina incident along with giving more money to homeless shealters and fix serious building/construction issues.
How much should the government spend on national defense? Not certain on the right amount.. but I think that they should spend some.. but not a whole lot. Yes.. Sep. 11th was bad.. but even if you have the best defense... some things just cant be provented. I think that they should keep up with checking people on planes.. buses.. and other transportation, maybe go the bristish route of having cameras. But.. thats about it.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? I think trading with them is fine, after all China does rely mostly on trade. But.. I think we should pull back a bit and focus on our industries.. or those will fall altogether.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? Well.. if its a natural distaster.. then I agree with this, after all those people need help and turning away and ignoring it shows poorly on this country.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? Confused on this question.. why would they just give it to anyone?
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? I think.. that its hard no matter who the person is. Thats bull that its only foreigners.. I do agree that it probably does effect them, but it also effects people with disabilities, for instence my mother has been looking for a job for 5 years and even though she went to college and everything, no one hired her because of her eye sight, which wasnt the problem since she can see well enough to do the job she went to school for. I think that there should be strick enforcement on desegergation.. and discrimination when it comes to the work world. So that these people can get jobs, thats if they can do it..
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? Government involvement, the government currently has little.. if any help with the poor. Currently in our state they passed a bill that if you give money to a street bagger you will be fined money. I think that is the most terrible and idiotic thing thats been passed here for years. Not only do these people have little if any food/money now their main way.. which usually is a peaceful way has been taken out. For action on this issue I think that they should do the system that they do in Prisons. The one where they train prisoners for a job and when they get out they get offers/interviews. This should be the same for the poor.

Flamesi ish bored, so she shall answer your questions. heart
How do you usually vote in elections? Technically, I can't vote yet, but if I had to... it depended on the positions of whoever was up for election. razz Someone, eventually, is going to get elected whether I vote or not. So I might as well put my two cents in, ne?
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? School mates of mine, actually. Very politically aware school mates of mine, who I have to say... are a couple of the coolest people I've ever met.
What does "politics" mean to you? The Government. razz The people who run our country?
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? No, actually.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? So many people are turned off by politics, at least I think so, is because each person has their own opinion about how things should happen. But sadly, one person governs this country... and not all views are met. Mistakes are made in every president's term, and in every politicians career, that in the end anger the people in general. Not to mention the media propaganda.
What angers me so much about politics is that so often, not everyone's opinion is heard, in most cases the minority. In both the way that I do not believe that one political party's certain goals are enough to represent the whole of the country... and how people get so fed up with politics that they sit back and decide their fed up. And don't make their opinions heard, or simply don't vote, because they 'hate' a certain political figure and ect. Abstaining you're vote, in my eyes, does nothing except take away you're voice completely in the government ((no matter how small it may be)) and leave the choices to the masses. At least try to bring some political awareness with your views and try to enlighten a few of us with your opinions. Even if you don't vote because you disagree with what a politicians have to say, enlighten us with why instead of just going 'BUSH SUCKS', for example. That kind of blind ignorance, along with the blind ignorance of following the masses in contrast, makes me want to laugh at them.
((And if you can understand one word of the above, I congratulate you... I'm not even sure I get what I was trying to say O.o ))
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? I think this is no issue of 'good and bad', or 'back and white'. Killing innocent life is just murder, no matter what the situation, in my eyes. To those who do manage to get themselves knocked up, they should've been using birth control and their child should not suffer as a consequence.
But with populations growing, is there really space enough for all the orphans in the world that would exist if not for abortion? And what about cases of rape, where the mother had no choice in the conception?
Truthfully, though, I believe that the goverment has no control over what someone does with their body, just as I believe they have no control over how a person marries. While I do not support abortion, I support the notion of the government not telling us what to do with our bodies.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? Of course, you'll need a license for a gun. But this is a totally helpless case in my eyes. There are so many unlicensed gun holders out there, it's not even funny. The government nor anyone else can do anything to control this, truthfully.
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? For education. In the areas that NEED it, who use techonology twenty years out of date. These children are the future of our nation, and the slacking attitude America is adopting is not helping anything. Compared to other countries, our education system is almost shockingly lax.
How much should the government spend on national defense? As much as it needs to keep people safe. As one of the strongest nations, we need to protect ourselves. But not be overly zealous about it.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? Withdrawing trade, in my opinion, would be a stupid move. It would only make the economy suffer both ways. Whether we withdraw trade or not, unless we make some sort of bargain, will not change human rights.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? As one of the strong, it is our duty to protect the weaker. But it's not smart, either, to get involved in petty wars or to get over patriotic. There's a time to stay on the sidelines.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? I think this would be a helpful boost to the educational system. I see nothing wrong with it.
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? Is it really that surprising, viewing America's current distrust after certain events which shall not be specifically mentioned? Or the way we seemed to get mocked by other nations for our choice in the government...
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? More homes for the homeless, lower taxes, ect. ect. ect. This answer never really changes, does it? Does anyone know how to answer it...?

What does "politics" mean to you? Politics, to me, is the view of right and wrong and how it just doesn't effect me but the world.
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? My father and I do get in heated arguements about the world today and how everything is done.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? Because most people think that government ruins their lives while it could make their lives better but they just don't want to see it.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? I view it as you have the choice, I believe in religion, but religion has no place in politics.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? I see it as they have to have a secure and formal background check, no and I do mean no criminal history and they need to have it registered.
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? The money should be used for here, and only here and to advance our nation into the future. It should be used for helping and developing our poorer areas, and make jobs.
How much should the government spend on national defense? The world is going into a new Cold War, and I think the national defense needs to spend enough to protect ourselves from the enemy, not heavily but just enough to discourage any foe.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? The US can trade with that nation, they are another Super Power -or soon to be- and we shall not, or will not interfer what goes on in the nation. We do not want to have issues with them.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? People call us trouble makers and we are the world's "bully" so I say we just leave them alone. Take back all forgein aid and weaponary and try to help ourselves.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? Actually I do not know much about this subject to make a real conculsion about it.
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? I think it's good, it takes jobs away from the nation and strains our resources, I view it as "boot them back home."
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? I still say we should mind our own business, the world hates us right now so I think we should build up Iraq and Afganistan and then focus on ourselves.

How do you usually vote in elections? I vote for the best candidate regardless of what party they belong to.
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? I believe my American Politics professor had a big influence. Unlike other professors he would present us with unbiassed information.
What does "politics" mean to you? The study of goverments and how they function.
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? No, but it has always fascinated me. So much in fact that I am currently majoring in political science.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? Because they do not know how the sistem functions.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? For abortion because a woman has a right to choose what is best for her.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? Certainly, the second amendment's right to bear arms clause was created at a time when Militias served as a Police Force of sorts for the states. At that time the states could not provide those in the militia with firearms but they did have a "right to bear arms", so those in the militia had to purchase their own firearms. So you see the second amendment does not really say that citizens can have firearms.
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? Right, the US owes more money than most nations.
How much should the government spend on national defense? I don't think they should spend more on national defense than on education, which is what they do today. However, in difficult times such as these national defense needs to be a priority.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? I could say that what might be considered poor human rights to us, wouldn't be thought of the same way in China but I won't do that. As a capitalist country, the US values money more than anything. They do not in fact think about the poor human rights when trading with China.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? The US is almost obligated to send troops and money to other nations since it one of the most poweful countries in the world.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religios schools. What do you think? As long as said funding passes the Lemon Test(ie it will be used for secular matters) then it is perfectly fine.
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? Please elaborate.
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? Investing in education. Sometimes welfare creates a dependency which helps to foster more poverty.

How do you usually vote in elections? We shall see when I am eighteen. ^^
Did any specific person or event influence your life and cause you to have the political attitude that you now possess? Yes - Bush - I hate the government, politics, and anything to do with the news. >.<
What does "politics" mean to you? World-wide court case with lawyers and criminals.
Are you from a strong political background? Were politics a regular discussion point with your family? Not really. I try to stay away from discussions of politics because I get so POed about them.
In your opinion, why are so many people turned off by politics? Because they are stressful.
On the issure of abortion, there is little middle ground. Where do you stand? It's none of our business what other people do. Obviously, if someone needs to get an abortion, it's for a good reason - they don't have enough money to support the child, or they were raped, or they don't have the maturity level to take care of a kid. Abortion is a private thing, and shouldn't be advertized on the news like some hair-care product.
What do you think should be the nation's gun control policy? Guns themselves are not dangerous. The people who use them are the ones that are dangerous. Don't ban guns - ban the stupid people from using them. ^^
Assume that the U.S. government is running a surplus. How should the money be used? It should be used on things that everyone needs - education, homes, security, et cetera.
How much should the government spend on national defense? I guess it depends on the situation. With the war in Iraq, the people had no say in whether we should go or not. Bush said, "There's weapons of distruction over there, let's kill them," and sent our troops off. That's a horrible way to spend our money.
The U.S. trades heavily with China, despite that country's poor human rights record. What do you think? I haven't heard enough about the problem to form an opinion.
Turmoil around the globe often prompts the U.S. to dispatch money and/or military troops for assistance. What do you think? I have mixed feelings about that. Sometimes, other countries need help due to their lack of military and/or money. But sometimes we cannot just jump in and help without knowing who the enemy we are fighting is.
Some propose giving parents a government voucher or coupon to use to help pay tuition at any school they choose, including private or religious schools. What do you think? I think that is a good idea, because the government should help pay for things like education, which is required in our society. That's what the taxes are all about, right? Why not use some of that money to help parents lacking a good source of income to send their kids off to get a good education?
In recent years, the U.S. has made it harder for foreign nationalists to live and work in this country. What do you think? So what if they are foreign? Everyone should have an equal opportunity to get a job. That's what discrimination is, for crying out loud!
What is the best way to help the nation's poor? Have people with more money pay more taxes, and people with less money pay less taxes.
