"W'eh is eve'yone...?"
Kiro shook his head in mock exasperation. They were, admittedly, a little early. "It's not dark yet Tsu. Look, the sun's still up - see? Unless someone comes along a little early, we've got a little wait."
"Bu' I dun wanna wait!" The ghost seemed to slither off Tsu's head as the boy pulled his costume off, the mouse ears poking up, followed by the pouting face of the Aerandir. "It's Ha'o'een!"
Kiro couldn't help but be slightly amused. He had suggested that Tsu wait until he put his costume on. "Yeah, but it's not spooky when it's daylight, is it?"
"Nu-uh..."
As though being mortally wounded, Bob - a piece of bedsheet tied to Tsu's fluffy tail to serve as a second ghost - was flopped to the ground with a muffled thump, now half buried in the sand.
Quietly, Kiro looked about and did his mental checklist again. They had assembled a few things they'd figured might come in handy... he thought they'd brought everything.
Now it was just a matter of waiting for people to show up.

Nehanda ran quickly down the path, her long equine tail and fabric-covered wings trailing behind. "Hurry up, Foenix! Come on!" Without bothering to look over her shoulder for her guardian, she broke through the trees and out onto the beach. She recognized Kiro immediately. "Kiwo! Hihi! It's a Hallyween party!" She looked over at Tsu. She hadn't seen the Aerandir boy since his wisp form. "Um . . . you're Tsukee, right?" Shaking her head, Foenix walked out onto the sand. "Hi, Kiro. It's good to see you again." Reaching down, she gently poked Nehanda in the ear. "don't you have something for Kiro?" "Oh! Right!" Grabbing the box up, she offered it to Kiro. "I gots that kit you asked for. It's got some salves for burns, and bug bite stuff, and tea for tummy aches." She peered up at Foenix. "Foenix tought people might eat too much candy and sweets, and get tummy aches, maybe." ((Nehanda's costume!))

((OMG!! Foenix!! That picture is SO good! whee ))
"Whoa! 'Handa! Foenix!" Kiro stood up from where he'd been sitting and swiped sand from his trousers as he watched the girl approach. She looked pretty excited, and that was something he was happy about.
Tsukai also jumped to his feet, perhaps with a little less coordination than his guardian, and hurried to pull the costume over his head. Drat! Obviously not quickly enough!
Grinning, Kiro crouched so as to be on level with the girl, his tail swinging out for balance. He then took the box from the little girl with a nod of thanks. "I really appreciate it Handa. Now, if anything happens, we're all ready for it! Oh and, by the way, your costume's great!" He then glanced to Foenix as he stood straight again. "You guys are the first here, so there's not a lot going on right this second - I'm hoping we get a good turnout..."
Tsu, by this point, had wrestled his bedsheet back over his head. "Whooo!! A'm a ghostee!" To emphasise his point, he held his hands in the air and waved his fingers comically. Then he stopped and lowered them, tilting his head - his tone perhaps embarassingly blunt. "You're prettee... watcha bein'?"

((Thanks! Sorry for disappearing. Stomach was acting up so I took a nap.))
Foenix nodded as she placed a fond hand on Nehanda's head. "Well, I know that we're looking forward to everything. And Keanu and Kami were cooking all sorts of things with the pumpkins Nehanda grew. By the way, did you find the ones we'd left at the Centre? I thought people might want to carve jack-o-lanterns."
Nehanda giggled at Tsu's words. "Tanks! I's being a butterfly." she lifted and fluttered her large wings for effect. "You're a really good ghostee, too! You look really . . . scary!" She bounced on her feet as she looked around her. "So, what're we doin' for Hallyween?"
Foenix made herself comfortable on the sand. "So, I haven't seen you since you got those measurements from 'Handa. Tsu's become an adorable little guy, but what else is new?"

"Ahh, you guys left those?" Finally, Kiro understood the mystery of the pumpkins! "We wondered where they'd come from!" He patted one of the boxes he'd brought down from the Centre, which sat alongside the pile of pumpkins. "We carved one of them last night, and brought the rest of them down with us. Maybe someone'll want to carve them tonight? We've got umm..." Absently the neko-jin pulled the box a little closer and looked inside. "Marshmellows for roasting later... lots of little candles and sticks... and a bunch of other stuff." He then pulled his head out of the box. "Should be fun."
Tsu grinned as Nehanda spoke. She was kinda cool! "We're doin' fun stuff! Wif marsh'm'ows, and sweeties and stuff!" His hands waved animatedly as he did so, the little ghostie tuft on his tail swingingly weightedly behind him.
"What's new...? Not a lot really. Tsu's slowly learning to read and write, we've not really gotten much further than that yet. How about with you and Handa? She's really getting on well with her job, huh?"

Foenix grinned and rolled her eyes. "Oh, boy, is she. It's almost all I can do to haul her out of the gardens and inside for dinner. I think she's finally realized that reading and writing are useful tools, though, so our lessons aren't as painful as they used to be." She tapped her heels in the sand. "I used to deal with daily temper tantrums. 'I don wanna wead! I hate stoopid wessons!'" She affected a high-pitched voice and imitated Nehanda. "But things are better now."
Nehanda frowned a bit as she sat down, mindful of the trailing costume wings. "What're masmallows? I never heard of 'em afore." Looking over, she saw the pile of pumpkins that Kiro had gestured toward. "Hey, you found our pumpkins! Dat's good. Feenix says we can carve 'em with scary faces!

The aloof couple, Delta and Sy, had finally made it out of their house. Excited, Delta was several steps ahead of her mother. The little Aerandir had a tiny beaded, shiny tiara that was a semi-circle and was clipped to her hair. There was no question that she was a princess. As she pranced towards them she also showed off her "dress," a small pink apron decorated with small sequins and shiny beads hot-glued on around the waist.
Syrenrei entered after her "regal" daughter. Delta had insisted that she have a costume as well, so Sy had gone to a costume shop. Evidently, the only princess costume they had for adults had a shorter skirt than she was used to. She smiled at Kiro and Foenix nervously before pulling down on her skirt for the umpteenth time. "Hurry, Yassu!" Osu waved about his flimsy, foam-like cutlass in the air before pounding down the path towards the beach. The little Aerandir was dressed as a pirate, complete with eyepatch, pirate hat and toy cutlass. Ieyasu had even managed to rig up a little puffy-sleeved shirt and waistcoat for the kid. Well.. he had cheated just a little. Osu spun on his heel at the bottom of the path, checking just how far behind Yassu had managed to fall, and managed to lose his hat. With a shout of surprise, the young spellweaver bounded after his hat, picking it up and jamming it firmly on his head. How did pirates manage to climb ships when their hats always fell off?
Ieyasu grinned as Osu chased his hat down the path. The kitsune had gone for a traditional vampire costume, with a long black cape (red lined of course!), tuxedo, pale face and of course, fangs. Stepping onto the beach, Ieyasu looked around for others that might have shown up. There were a few here already, it seemed. Kiro, Foenix and Syrenrei, along with who must be Tsu, Nehanda and Delta. Grinning, Ieyasu lifted a hand and waved as he and Osu moved closer.

Kiro smiled a little as first Sy and Delta, and then Ieyasu and Osu joined them. He held up a hand in a slight wave, idly wishing he'd actually dressed up. Tsu and Bob, however, more than made up for it. "Hey guys!"
As he watched the assortment of costumed people come closer, Kiro leaned to take things out of the box, his triumph being a few large packets of marshmellows. He also produced a small box of tealights, that were intended to go inside the lanterns - the one he and Tsu had carved earlier still remaining unlit.
The small fire that had been set up earlier in the day had already been burning for a little while now, the flames happily licking at the wood they'd been given to feed them, another small pile of it off to one side.
Tsu's reponse to the newcomers was to run forward, waving his hands energetically in greeting, making something akin to ghosty noises as he approached them, 'Bob' swinging widely from side to side as the young ghost tried hard not to trip on him. "Whoooo!!"

Delta blinked at both Osu's and Tsu's costumes. Boys. If they had been really smart and fashion sensible, they would have come as princes! Ieyasu looked like he had tried to dress nice, but he was wearing too much make-up because he looked really pale and he had some weird teeth or something. "I'm a princess," she informed the other two Aerandir, just in case they didn't know.
Sy looked over the pumpkins, marshmellows, and tea lights. She really hoped that Delta didn't want to carve a pumpkin. Delta would detest soiling her hands, and the sticky goo and seeds inside would take some skill to get out of fur. The toddler would complain for *days.*

Ieyasu grinned and waved. "Hey everyone. How's it going?" He glanced over the beach, noticing that a fire was already burning. No doubt that would please Osu. Leaving the kid to go off and meet the other Aerandir, he sat down in the sand, leaning back.
Happily, Osu ran towards everyone, only to see a ghost running towards him, hands flailing. Was this a game? He didn't know who (or what) it was, but it looked like it was having fun! Giggling, the pirate ran towards the ghost, giving him an experimental poke. Osu evidently did not grasp that ghosts were supposed to be scary.
Turning to the other Aerandir, Osu grinned. He hadn't met this one before, he didn't think. At least, he didn't recognise her. She said she was a princess. What was that? Not one to be shy, Osu immediately voiced his question. "What's a princess?"
Pausing for a moment, he grinned again. "I'm Osu! What's your name!?

"Late again," Dragonfly complained to herself, smoothing the fabric of her dress, and letting out a soft huffing breath.
Dragonfly had decided to come as she was a half-demon, half-drow, with some sparkling silver make up over her eyes, and a few carefully placed gems, and sparkles upon her wings.
Her dress was midnight blue, with a swirling silver design creeping up the long slit at the side. Her long, delicate ears were decorated with several silver loops and studs, and her left ear had a particular dangling crescent moon ear ring, forged of the finest silver.
Her retractable wings had been allowed their freedom thise eve, the heavy leather protruding from her shoulder blades, dragging in the sand slightly if she didn't pay close attention.
Iniko's bonded item was wrapped in a neat package that she carried with her in her right hand, and under the crook of her left was a rather large pumpkin she had brought from the mainland. Surely there would be other pumpkins, she thought, but it couldn't hurt to bring another.
Iniko giggled as she zoomed ahead of Dragonfly, though she always seemed to double back, and zoom through Dragonfly's hand, or the pumpkin. She grinned to Dragonfly as she peeked her head out of the top of the pumpkin, before zooming forward again, towards the crowd that she could see had gathered.
"FWAY!" she squealed, zooming away from Dragonfly, and heading in haphazard loops towards the gathering.
Iniko's eyes immediatly set upon the ghost, and with a squealing giggle, she looped towards it, before spiralling through it, and turning to point, and laugh happily.
Dragonfly smiled as she neared, though she suddenly felt nervous about the exposure of her outfit.
Well, at least she could always claim that it was merely an elaborate costume..

Luc grumbled the slightest, shooting Nyxa a horrid glare when she dared laugh at his current predicament. She swiftly hushed, though a hint of a smile flitted around her lips.
Luc adjusted the collar of the suit he wore, made sure his blood-red tie was straight, and slicked back his hair. The cape he wore fell almost gracefully to brush against the ground, and despite his "gentleman vampire" ensemble, he still clutched to him his bonded item, the lovely carved bow.
Small shoulders hefting in a sigh, he couldn't help but grow a little apprehensive as he drew closer to the vestivities. As it was, he merely remained at the outskirts of the party, waiting for someone to notice him.
Nyxa simply watched him, clutching a bootlegged bag of candy to her chest. Her own outfit consisted of a casual pair of pants, a bikini top, and two bright red vampire-bite marks on her neck.

Kami and Keanu arrived on the beach finally, Kami hauling a small wagon behind her that contained all the fruits of bother her and keanu's labor the previous night. The wagon was piled high with the pies, all six, that they had made, and the bags of roasted pumpkin seeds. Kami carried one of the caramel apple cartons under her arm, and Keanu held one himself.
The little boy was smiling widely, dressed up quite adorably. Kami had gotten an old black and white striped shirt, which was perfect because it was a bit too large, making it look like baggy pirate garb. A string was fastened around his waist to make it appear baggy at the belly, almost as if he were wearing a tunic of some sort. She had found an old felt gardening hat, and had picked all the designs out before sewing three side of the brim to the top, making the perfect little tri-cornered hat. He wore a black bandana underneath, and Kami had even been able to fashion a cute little eyepatch for him. He had cut out a sword from cardboard, and it was tucked carefully under his 'belt', so it wouldn't be in the way of carrying his precious cargo.
