Talk about your picks and players you like and post your own mock drafts. Whatever. Personally, I want the Niners to draft Rey Maualuga or Mark Sanchez. Lol.

With Maualuga and Willis, that would be a dominating LB corp right there. Then of course, the obvious QB problem we have... I like Hill, but we do need a franchise QB. I'd rather not take one, but if we did, Sanchez would be cool.

The Detroit Lions should select Andre Smith, OT, Alabama. A QB here might be tempting, but an offensive lineman is the smart choice. They can still get some quality members for later picks in the draft. And note that the Lions have two first round picks.

...And personally, I'm hoping that the Giants will draft a linebacker. Maybe Maualuga or Laurinaitis.

Definetly agreed, if the Lions get a good OT in the 1st global pick, they can get either a good QB or RB with their other 1st round pick, I really hope the lions become more competitive this season... Im far from being a DET fan, but I do want more competition at least.

I think the Lions have a good young running back in Kevin Smith. He did well as a rookie and he'll only get better I think. He can also receive out of the backfield kinda. What they need is definitely a QB and an o-line.

Yeah, as Nyu-kun said, the Detroit Lions already have a pretty good RB in Kevin Smith. And remember that they also have Rudi Johnson.

They need many things right now. They only seem to be solid at receiver and runningback. Their offensive line is horrible, and they don't really have a QB. Orlovski isn't starting-caliber, Culpepper is past his prime, and everyone else they tried just failed. Also, they have no tight end whatsoever. And defensively, they have a decent secondary for such a bad team, but have a bad defensive line and horrible linebackers.

...So for their first pick, I'd say grab an offensive lineman like Andre Smith. Maybe even draft another one with their other first round pick. Then they should take a linebacker or defensive end with later picks. I personally think that they should draft a QB next year, when McCoy, Bradford, and Tebow decide to enter the draft. They are in a rebuilding process, and can wait a year to get their franchise future QB.

The sooner you take a quarterback though, the sooner he can learn. He can really learn under Kitna just like Palmer did. It did wonders for Palmer as he became one of the best. If they take a quarterback now, that's a year he's been in the NFL, a year he can watch from the bench. There's also a real chance that Stafford or Sanchez can slip. Remember Quinn and Rodgers slipped way down as well.

I agree with your point on learning the system, but a franchise goes much further than a QB. An offensive lineman dictates how well your offense runs and flows. How many first pick QBs have we seen go to bust? An offensive lineman is a much safer pick. And it's now like a one-year wonder type player. Andre Smith has been tracked as one of the best since high school. If he continues that, he has the chance to become one of the best, and really boost the Detriot Lions, in their rebuilding process.

...And another point. You said that the QB they draft should learn from Kitna. Remember that the Lions signed Dante Culpepper to a two year deal? That gives them time to draft a QB next season, and have him learn from there.

I heard something about the Panthers drafting a new DE since were losing Peppers and the DE we might be getting is as good, maybe better, than Peppers. And we might be getting a new starting QB, not likely, but were considering it.

No way will a rookie be better than Peppers and have more of an immediate impact. And I doubt that his career will be as great.

I think Detroit Lions should select Andre Smith, they need a better offensive line and protect the QB.

Damn...I'm pretty pissed about our draft spot. The Giants select at number 29. Hopefully they can make a few pick trades, because they have the leeway. That's one bad thing about having a great regular season and then losing in the playoffs.

I think the Giants should go with a linebacker in the first round. Receiver in the second round. A cornerback or safety with their other second round pick. Then get an offensive lineman, another linebacker, and another person in the secondary. We don't need too much, but we mostly need a linebacker who's good in coverage.

Mel Kiper's mock draft for the first round was just made. It can be found on ESPN's website.

this draft is wickedly deep in OTs and DE/LBs,
theres like 5 OT that could go in the top 10 and the same thing for DE/LB

With the star-player hungry Lions and Raiders picking in the top 10, I don't think that either will pick an OL in the first round...
