Once again Brett Favre is having everyone questioning: Is he going to retire?
Brett Favre has spent 17 years as the starting QB for the Greenbay packers giving them a superbowl championship and walking away with 3 MVPs, 9 Pro Bowl appearances (at the time), and a horde of records set in the NFL and Packers record book. After finally deciding to retire in the '08 off season, Brett decided to return for another season. However, his sudden decision forced the Packers to trade him to the Jets having wanted to stick with new starting QB Aaron Rodgers. Green Bay would finish the season 6-10.
After what might have seem like a promising season for the NY Jets having started off as 8-3 and 1st in their AFC East division, the Jets lost 4 of their last 5 games finishing the season with a 9-7 record missing the playoffs. In response, Eric Mangini was fired as the head coach but the owner and GM decided to keep Brett Favre. Having suffered a shoulder injury and about to receive an MRI, Brett is debating whether or not he should hang up his jersey. The Jets would most likely want Brett to come back for another year, but the word throughout the NFL is that Brett should just retire.
I want to know your opinion. Do you think Brett Favre should retire or try one more season with the Jets? Do you think he will retire?
Brett Favre finishes the season at the age of 39 and as a Pro Bowl selection. Should he return next season, he will be 40 years old.

Another Brett Favre retirement case. What separates this season with the Jets and last season with the Packers, was that his mental mindset was the main factor in his decision last time, while his physical ability is the main factor right now.
Personally, I'd like to see him return for one more season. I want to see a Giants and Jets Super Bowl, with Brett Favre on the other side. I wouldn't even be that mad if he wins it; I'd be happy for him. Favre is one of my all time favorites, and I'd like to see him go out on top. Hopefully he'll return healthy, with a good coach, and a good Jets team.

he will have to get arthroscopic surgry which is not a serious procedure but ANY surgury on the thowing arm of a QB is serious do to if any complications arise it could hinder him even further

Which is true for any injury. Brett's decision is said to be based on the results of his MRI and if its as non-major as they say then he may as well sign on for another season. Still, I'm pretty sure Brett is looking into more than one factor other than his shoulder injury in order to make his decision.
Just as Dude-LAP, I personally want Brett to give it another shot. If he retires now, then he should have just remained retired in the first place. He didn't need to go through all that drama during the mid-summer and then get himself traded to another team just to spend one year there on a negative note. I would love to see Brett make it to the superbowl because he deserves it and it is a great way to head out of the league. Even if he doesn't make it to the superbowl, I hope he at least win a championship for the team. Something that will make his return from retirement and trade seem worthwhile.

SportsCenter and ESPN, over the summer, was completely taken over by the Brett Favre return story.

Yeah, the only pity I savored for Aaron Rodgers because the Packers' decision ultimately tainted his position as starting QB for the season. Still can't get over that he was bad-mouthed by a kid. OMG, what are these parents teaching their kids these days?
Still it is said that Brett will spend the next few weeks mulling it over. I was hoping for a decision by this weekend but if Brett wants to go deer hunting for awhile then fine.

After that, hopefully he can make a full decision on a Jets return. Hopefully before March. And Aaron Rodgers really played well for the Packers this season. He should have a very solid career.

That did bother me last season, but I think the NFL do Pro Bowl selections prior to the end of the season so that people won't just vote for players on winning teams only when someone else on another that just missed the playoffs may have very high stats and is more deserving. I really don't care if Brett goes to the Pro Bowl or not, still he could have been replaced by Matt Cassel and/or Pennington.
I got nothing against Rodgers. I think he's a decent QB for the Packers, but because of the drama that pursued early this season I don't think GB fans really gave him an open-minded chance.
I'm hoping for a decision before February.

I'm hoping for a decision before February.Well Phillip Rivers was the most deserving QB from the AFC for the Pro Bowl who didn't make it. Next probably would have been Pennington, then Cassel. ...And Packers fans shouldn't blame the struggles of their season on Aaron Rodgers or losing Brett Fave. This season, Aaron Rodgers played really well for Green Bay. Their running game fell short this season, and their defense didn't play too well.

Hmm...I didn't bother adding Rivers to that list. I hear a lot about him deserving the pro bowl selection. Probably better him than Jay Cutler. Two reasons why I watched that game sunday: to see a QB showdown and to see if the Broncos could wake up and stop the Chargers from getting into the playoffs. I received double the disappointment of course.
Meh...Aaron Rodgers will get his chance. I'll be looking forward to it, after Brett Favre retires though. Yeah! Let's go Packers! 2010!

Well Phillip Rivers was tied for the NFL lead in TD passes this season with [I believe] 35. He was the main reason why the Chargers were able to sneak into the playoffs, and he's deserving of a Pro Bowl spot.
