Well.... for years and years I had beautiful long hair was always around my mid-back, sometimes longer. This month my boyfriend decided I needed a change and gave me a bob. Fun. I'm actually enjoying it, but I REALLY miss my long hair, especially because I can't put it in a nice big bun anymore.
Is there ANYTHING to be done? Is there any way to make short hair look somewhat Victorian or am I a total loss?

well... i am no expert on victorian, but what i would suggest is just to go with what you think looks good, and more importantly, what you like. besides, if you want a hairstyle that looks steampunk, then you should be able to get away with almost anything

Curl it, then pull it back away from your face with a hairpeice or headband. Shorter hair styles are also easier to pin up and stay pinned.

While "Last Exile" may not be Steampunk, a lot of people interested in this genre enjoy that movie, and several of the main characters have very well defined short bobs.
Also, well-defined ringlets were popular for children in the Victorian Era, and look awesome besides.
As a final note- I agree, pincurls rock! They hurt my head way too much for me to do with my long hair, but with short hair it may be far easier and practical biggrin

And remember that your hair doesn't have to look Victorian. That could be the punk aspect of your look. My hair is short, and I personally go long in the front, and poofy and spikey in the back.

I have short thick hair dyed red in the front, I hate curls and I don't think I can do anything Victorian with it but then again didn't a few of the women then usually where wigs or something of the sort? Or hats.
Whatever the case maybe I don't think it has to be victorian, I say go with what you like and what best go with you.

Steampunk is not strictly accurate anyway, Plus the fact I want you all to image those hairstyles on steampunk ladies. If you honestly can't see them looking hot with a steampunk outfit I will apologize now.

If we have to restrict Steampunk to hairstyles that calls for longer hair then a few of us are screwed.

In a way I can't imagine that style with steampunk because it's a little fussy... it's difficult to get right, and it's meant to be glamorous. Steampunk makes me think of unexpected beauty borne of practicality, which I think suits a short hairstyle perfectly xx
