Am I the only one who thinks that playing a football game overseas is a bad idea? The season is only 16 games long and I think they should all be over here in the states. Bring some of these games to cities that dont have a football team instead of punishing the football loving country that we have here. Think about the season ticket holders that can't see this game in person because there home game has been stripped away.
Anyway, anyone else think the same way, or am I just crazy?

i sort of agree with what you are saying but then again to create football stadiums at the places that dont have a football team is money consuming to that city.

It's only a few games, and there is obviously enough of a base to put a few games there.

I feel bad for the players having to adjust to a whole new time, I mean they'll be playing at 3:00 am england time and also worrying about everything. But on the otherhand we're spreading our great National Football Leauge over seas and making it happier.

Goodell did talk about extending the regular season to 17 games with 3 preseason instead of 4. That way, every team plays overseas without costing any type of home field advantage type thing. 8 home, 8 away, and one neutral. Lol.

Well, one team (in this case the Saints and last year the Dolphins) sacrifices a home game to be played overseas. Goodell is thinking about extending the season one game, to play a matchup in another country. ...Anyways, that was a really good point you made about playing football in other U.S. cities. Some big cities do not have a professional football team, and it would be great to play some games there. Cities like Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Portland, Salt Lake, Omaha, etc. And states like Hawaii, Alaska, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Maine, etc.

But on the otherhand we're spreading our great National Football Leauge over seas and making it happier. That shouldn't really be an excuse to the players. They make millions of dollars and have the best job in the world, and a simple time difference shouldn't be problem to them. Anyways, it's easier than you think...The players flew into England on Monday, and have weeks to prepare for the time and the game. Also, both teams have a bye the following week, to get readjusted to their regular time zones.

I don't really know about this. Taking away two preseason games may have a huge effect on teams. Backups and practice squad players will not have a sufficient amount of time to showcase their stuff, and starters will be rusty at the start of the season. No wonder why Tomlinson gets off to bad starts...He doesn't even play in the preseason. Sure, s**t happens, and players like Umenyora get hurt in the preseason, but coaches and players are more affected than fans. And 18 regular season games might be a bit too much. It's hard to get to 14-0, which the 1972 Dolphins did. The Patriots got to 16-0 last season. It will be even tougher to go 18-0 during a regular season. Also, single-season stats would be thrown off completely. There are more problems with an 18 game season. Would the NFL regular season begin in August or end in January? Would teams be awarded two byes? Since there are four teams in an opposing division, and three teams your own division, how would those extra two matchups be determined? Also, that still gives no leeway to a game played at a neutral field.

DIRE SWORD WOUND Thats the commissioner for you hes greedy and not suited to run the nfl i bet by 2015 every team will have to play out of the u.s They need to get him out of the nfl canda dont want the nfl Britain dont Yeah, I agree about him going a little overboard about the schedule and expansion to other countries. But Goodell has done a really good job dealing with player problems, such as using performance enhancing drugs or violating a conduct policy. He's done a great job against Vick, Pacman Jones, and others.
