Arith

Name: Arith Haneko
Gender: Male
Stage: Preteen
Likes: Purple, sports, smiles, loose and comfy clothing, praise, helping others, gummies, hats, and TV.
Dislikes: Sad things, bad news, being scolded, sweatervests, formal clothes, rain, quiet, bad-smelling things, algae, cleaning things, standing still, baths, and reading.
Personality: Arith is friendly and outgoing, reaching out to others. He loves to make new friends and investigate things, and never seems to stand still. He excels at outdoor activities and loves to show off so he can get praised, but doesn't want to make others look bad. He hardly ever is upset, and when he is, he doesn't like to show it. He hates reading and doing things that require quiet and stillness, and will do almost anything to avoid them. Arith always tries his best to succeed and will go out of his way to please or help others.

DNA: Siberian Husky
Siberian huskies are gentle, energetic, and loyal. They're terrible guard dogs, but good friends and sled dogs, and have been used in dog sled races such as the Iditarod for years. They are very resilient and communicative, unlike many other dogs, they howl and 'talk' rather than just bark. They are intelligent creatures, and though stubborn, respond well to training.

Konig

Name: Konig (When angry at him, Kotatsu calls him Konig Healfdane Jornickson, though Arith heavily protests the addition)
Gender: Male
Type: Frost dragon
Stage: Wyrmling
Element: Ice
Likes: Cold, cool colours, dark places, and the ocean
Dislikes: Warm things, Kotatsu, and the basement furnace
PostPosted: Tue Sep 23, 2008 6:21 pm

Kotatsu

Name: Kotatsu Dayle
Gender: Female
Age: Twentysomething.
Likes: Reading, sketching, pretty pastries, rain, classical music, libraries, fast food, formal clothing, joking around, and history.
Dislikes: Cooking, cleaning, messes, noise, outdoor activities, spying neighbours, plants dying on her, fires, large animals, flesh wounds, baggy clothes, and mean people.
Personality: Kotatsu is a woman who has trouble taking things seriously. She's absentminded and clumsy and gets into trouble a lot, but also tends to try to understand and get along with people. She enjoys history and swoons over historical figures and her love for formal clothes is a litle unusual. She gets tired easily and doesn't like sports, but likes to read and likes the sound of the rain. She has a soft spot for Arith and tries to work around their wildly different personalities and be as motherly as she can to him. Konig doesn't like her though, and the feeling is mutual.

Acquaintences

Delta: Arith met her in a cafe. Mia and Delta's mother were good friends, and Arith and Delta themselves are best friends. Even though Arith hasn't seen Delta in a while and doesn't know how to get in touch with her, he continues to consider her his dearest acquaintance.
Chath: Arith met him once in the park, but isn't well acquainted with him.
Liang: Arith met her at the park and she taught him how to play baseball. Arith thinks she's cool.
Aysel: Arith met her in the mall and they looked at toys together.

RP Prompt Entries:

The first entry I made for Arith's rehoming contest:

Kotatsu-chan
Kotatsu edged into the living room.

It was, she thought, a rather trying time for her right now. When she had looked up from her cornflakes, decided to adopt a child, and made inquiries after several before choosing, she had rather neglected to ask if the child she was going to take in had any pets.

Or, to be specific, large dragons.

This had turned out to be an oversight as large as the mythical reptile glaring at her from the couch, and also just another problem to addd onto the list that had been growing by leaps and bounds ever since Arith had entered the front door and asked how long he was going to be on vacation here until Mia came back. That particular problem had been something that, even after explaining to Arith several times, Kotatsu still was having issues with. So for now, she was focusing on something else. She neared the dragon cautiously. What did dragons eat, anyway? According to the traditional legends she had heard, they ate people and livestock. Kotatsu had several neighbours, none of whom liked her, but she didn't quite dislike them enough to feed them to Arith's pet. As for livestock, she had a stuffed sheep in her living room and some ground beef in the fridge for hamburgers. Somehow, she doubted that was quite enough, even for a very small dragon. And even though this dragon was small enough to deal with, what would happen when it got older? She gave an inward shudder.

Arith had said it was called Konig, after he had informed her that his name was Arith, vigorously shook her hand at the door, informed her of everything he liked, which was a long list, everything he didn't like, which was a short list, generally acted excited to be going on a trip to a new place, and totally misunderstood the entire reason Kotatsu had shown up to visit him. Konig. It sounded barbaric. Kotatsu peeked over the edge of the couch at the dragon who lazily flicked an eye at her. She wasn't shiny enough to attract his attention. But he was certainly odd enough to attract hers. Every time she looked at the thing, she felt a million very pressing questions leap into her mind. 'Was it litterbox trained?' always seemed to be foremost in her mind. If not, would she have to carry a shovel with her every time she took it for a walk? She had no idea what Arith did with it. But she had no idea what Arith did in general, either. Once he had got to the house he had begun exploring almost at once. She hadn't seen him since an hour ago, when he had asked her...

When Mia was coming to get him.

Looking back, asking whether the child she was adopting knew he was being adopted was another thing Kotatsu should have asked about. She had never adopted anyone before, apart from a wheezy old cat, which had been kidnapped by Mr. Finchley, the old man next door, and a budgeriar which flew away after an incident involving an open window and a freak wind. She had never even had children before, never dreamed about having children before, or even met a nice man who she could possibly have had the option to have children WITH before.

Hell, she had just barely learned that you could make food without a microwave, even. The problems were, now that Kotatsu looked back... They were dragonic. Of epic proportions. The dragon itself was dwarfed by the immensely massive problems that she herself were the cause of. She was tempted to turn around and tell Arith to go home, tell Konig to go home, tell Mr. Finchley, who had been stealthily trying to peer into her window ever since he saw a furry boy on her front step, to go home and just sit on the dragon-free couch to calm her jangled nerves.

But then she'd be alone again. All alone in this house, the house that she had bought alone and decorated alone and then inhabited all by herself with no one but Mr. Finchley occassionally trying to spy on her. When she had met Arith, she had been drawn to him immediately for that very reason. Anyone meeting Arith for the first time could never feel alone. He chattered and laughed and made a lot of racket, even in a car with nothing but the rolling window to keep him occupied. He was vibrant. And even though his parent was gone, even though he was just coasting until someone new came along, Kotatsu had the feeling he had never felt really, really lonely. It had enthralled her. And no matter what trouble he caused, no matter how hard it was going to be to walk Konig or explain things to Mr. Finchely or pull husky fur out of the shower drain, she didn't want to let him go. She didn't want to be in the empty house again. She would have to explain to him about Mia and help him adjust, and explain to the gardener about Konig and help him adjust, and cook more, and clean more, and sleep less, but it was okay.

Finally, she reached out and patted Konig's back gently. He was cold. She drew her hand back and the dragon gave her a long, measured stare. It twisted its mouth at her and rolled over.

Kotatsu fancied it had smiled.

Second one when I can find it. XD

Growth Requirements

Preteen (8-12):
Third stage, the egg has hatched and children begin attending training classes.

This stage marks that awkward phase where you think you're grown up, but you're not quite there yet. They're now starting to shape their own personalities. They don't need you to hold their hand while crossing the street anymore. And their dragon egg hatches at this time, in which a large reptilian like creature comes to stay wherever you may be residing. The goal is for the two to be best friends.
Also, classes begin to progress. Your child is now offered magic and melee. These will teach the basics of both, in which they'll learn which they like and which they don't like. And they'll get to know their dragons.

Requirements:
3 Months length
Pass another special skill test[x]/[x]
Take 1 dragon informational class[x]/[x]
Pass 3 Melee tests, [x]/[x]
Pass 3 magic tests. [x]/[x]
5 Playdates,
1 Journal entry from parents perspective
1 from child's perspective
Choice of another 2 Journal entries or two Journal RPs.

Teen (13-16):
Fourth stage, Children begin attending competitions and applying their teachings. They also start more advanced classes.

Ah teenagers, this is where your child will get the joyful rush of hormones and interest in the opposite sex.. Or as it may be, same sex. The point is this must be the hardest point of one's life, dealing with the new feelings and hormones, and at the same time dealing with the mass of classes D-corp is trying to shove down your throat before you get too old. This is, by far, the hardest stage of your life.
By now they've chosen whether they prefer magic or melee, and can now focus on mastering those skills. Along with more classes being shoved along, learning about dragon history, and biology of themselves and their dragons... And who can forget sex ed? And most importantly, learning their dragon's abilities. Both flying and fighting, because no one wants an out of control ball of acid flying at them. All the while trying to balance a social life. And you, as the parent, get to keep them out of trouble.

Requirements:

3 Months length
Pass 3 advanced Melee tests([x]/[x]) or pass 3 advanced Magic tests([x]/[x]) (depending on which they want to specify in)
Pass 3 History tests [x]/[x]
Pass 3 biology tests [x]/[x]
Pass 3 dragon training tests [x]/[x]
6 PDs
2 parent journal entries
2 child journal entries
3 choice entries.
