So I'm having some issues with my now ex-boyfriend, and I'd like people to respond to this hypothetical situation:

So if you had something wonderful that you loved a lot, and someone wanted to take it away from you, would you fight for it? Or would you just sit there saying, "Oh, you taking that item is fate. If I was meant to have it I would."?

(No this doesn't belong in I am Me because this could be a possible discussion for the guild, not just a random story about my life.)

I would fight for it.

YOU are the only thing that decides your fate.

What if it was a relationship that your girlfriend was deciding to break off? Would you do something more than just say, "Okay."

THAT, however, is completely circumstantial.

I'm not sure i can give examples.

Fate isn't real, just people being insecure about their futures/hating the idea of their lives being one big dice roll. surprised

Hell yes, I'm fighting!

Well personally, I cared about a person who broke up with me enough to say, "if that's what you want then that's great."

Now, if it's something you love, and you're the only person involved-ish (meaning that... more on only you), then I'd fight.

Now, relationships are another matter. See, it's two people, and if one person doesn't want it, then it won't work. Both must love each other for it to work. Now, I'm not saying that I wouldn't fight, but I probably wouldn't... seeing as how I can't force someone else to do something they won't want to.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that if I were in the position, I may or may not fight, but I would have to accept the fact that it wasn't going to happen.

Not going to bring fate into it at all... just choice, however some decisions can't be made alone, while others can. o.o

Does that help? It sure hurt my head after I read over it... @_@

If you loved the item, you would fight for it. If the girlfriend decides to break up, then that shouldn't change the mindset of keeping the item. If it saves the relationship, would it really stay stable? Maybe I misinterpreted the second part, but... neutral Of course, the "if" is for situational events. Be specific, now. pirate

Well, the attitude that my boyfriend took was, "if we were meant to be together we wouldn't be breaking up," and just let me walk away, even though I wasn't sure completely if I wanted to break up with him or not... So by not saying anything to change my mind, or not trying to fight for it, our relationship died.

If you guys had someone that you loved, would you just let them walk away, or would you try to convince them to stay?
